3days later her dad had suprised her.He bought her so many books that had to do with spelling, she was really happy.She was more determined than ever to win the competition.

She studied like never before. They had gone for an exam, it was necessary so the organisers of the competition could pick 10 schools to do the finial. She had emerged second out of 100 students.Her dad had only encouraged her.

I believe you in you sophie, you are going to win but you only have to take the challenge and work harder.

Mrs dim; I told you son. you have won the semi-final, I believed in you.

Phillip; Thanks mum, it wouldn’t have been possible without you. (All smiles)

mrs dim; Am so happy, you just have to work harder, and guess wat?

Phillip:wat?(curious to hear what she had to say )

Mrs dim; I will get you a car if you win.

Phillip:what?? mum are you for real

mrs dim; yes son. she had already opened her arms for a hug. He gladly hugged her.

people says time flies but not as fast as Sophie thought, she had no or little time for herself.

She was lucky for the kind of friend she had.Florence had helped her to copy not es and every other school activities. She wanted her friend to win. It was just 4 days to the competition. Sophie had decided to call her mum.The phone kept ringing but there was no reply.An hour later she had called back.

priscillia; hello dear, I haven’t been with my phone.

Sophie; it okay. can i ask you a question?

Priscillia:yes what is it?

Sophie: do you even have any likeness for me

Priscillia: Every mother love her child

Sophie; except one.Which is my mum.when was the last time you called me

Priscillia: stop acting like a spoilt brat, you know am always busy.

Sophie; it ok, that wasn’t even the reason i called

Priscillia: so what reason? or do you want to insult me again

Sophie: hmm . There’s this competition am going for, I would be happy if u can make it.

Priscillia: will Henry be there?

Sophie:sorry I can’t make it.

Sophie; yes, will that be a problem?

Priscillia:yes.am sorry i can’t make it
Priscillia didn’t say any other thing but ended the call.What was she expecting from a mother who hadn’t even call her for months.She wasnt sad but just calm.

The Competition day
Philip had never been this nervous before, he was starting to feel feverish, he was really scared.He heard a knock on the door,come in he said.Mr and mrs Dim walked in.

Mrs Dim:you are so nervous,ir written all over you

Philip:am scared

Mr dim:you dont have to, be a man.A real man dont fear challenges but only strive to overcome.

Mrs Dim:you heard what your dad said,you can do it honey

phillip; Thanks .

Mr Dim; dress up quickly we will be waiting in the car.

Phillip; ok dad.

Sophie was dressed In uniform, a purple pencil skirt with a ash long sleeve with a purple tie.She was staring at the miror
you’v been doing that for a long time sandy said

Sophie:Oh i didn’t hear you walk in.first impression matters alot, just trying to look my best

sandy:Have been knocking

Sonia: sorry.

Sandy: your dad said he has to pick up something in the office that the driver should take you to school, he will meet you there

Sophie; hmm, what exactly. ? I just hope today won’t be like other days.

Sandy:your dad wont do that to you he knows how important this is to you.

Sophie: okay.

Sandy; am sorry i can’t make it , I have exams by noon today

Sophie; Good luck then.

Sandy; Good luck too.

Henry was angry, not for once have he hated his job not until this moment. He had to do an operation, a critical one.He was angry with his secretary why did she have to fix it today, he had met her for explanation and all she could utter was save a life sir, 7 doctors had tried ….

he was upset, he just have to calm down to do it.

Finally they were all seated, Sophie felt like crying, she had scan through the auditorium countless times .where is my dad??
