Ambrose POV

Haira left home very early in the morning, she even forgot to make me breakfast, since she started preparing my dishes, i suddenly found other women food tasteless. I could no longer eat at any of those restaurants again, it just felt strange in my mouth.

She had a lot to handle, she has started monitoring the laundry business sternly. She left for work this morning, she had a lot of employees to interview. She just sacked almost all the old staff. It was her era and I let her handle it while I faced agriculture.

I coiled in bed, i wasn’t comfortable with this her new style. She can’t just leave me to myself all day, I miss her and I think I have to mandate her to return home once it was 3pm in the afternoon. I got out of bed, it was 10am in the morning, I quickly had a cool bath and rushed downstairs. Eugene was seeing a nollywood movie with her family.
“Good morning o” I greeted them immediately i stepped into the room. Sammy jumped at me and I threw him up in the air.
“Good morning sir, would you love rice or pasta or maybe bread?” Apollos asked. I and Haira were waiting for the current school term to run out so that we would enroll her in a new school. She dropped out at SS1.
“You cooked the food right?” I asked Apollos and she shook her head negatively.
“I did” Eugene answered.
“I would prefer fruits, a lot of fruits” I said. Eugene and Apollos exclaimed “what?!”
I smiled.



“I prefer fruits in the morning” I lied.
“Or you think we can’t cook?” Eugene asked and I laughed.
“No oo, I just think i would be good with fruits”

Apollos went into the kitchen and brought me varieties of fruits in a plate. I ate with little Sammy.

I became bored, Sammy slept in my hands and i couldn’t sit down and gist with ladies so i left the house, I haven’t seen Fiks privately since I return from South Africa, I decided to pay him a visit since he’s always home smashing his ladies.

“Open now” I said. I have been knocking and he kept asking who is that. I intentionally kept mute and he never opened up. When I was tired, i finally spoke.

“Ohhh, you? I can’t believe it, i thought you were too busy to even think of me” We hugged slightly.

“Guy, no vex oo, i was busy exploring my wife” I said. I walked up to his bar and got us a drink.

“I understand, love is beautiful, everyone should experience it” He said and my eyes widened. Fiks is now talking about love.
“You don’t believe in love, do you?” I asked taking a sip from my wine cup.
“I found love guy” He said and my jaw dropped. Right now, a fist would easily enter my mouth with the way I left it open.
“You can’t be serious? Love? Fiks? How now?” I asked and he hissed.
“It was first like a night mare, i suddenly found myself carving for a lady that came to get drugs in my pharmacy. I couldn’t take my mind off her, she blew me away. You need to see her talk, her words are of wisdom, she isn’t like those use and dump girls, you need to see the way she runs her wine shop, so much intelligence, so simple and………….”
“Fiks, come hope am not dreaming, you are praising a woman for real? O lord of mercy” I exclaimed. I saw the seriousness in his eyes and i knew something big has happened in the few months I have been away.
“You know I have never spoke so well of a lady before, she won me over and I can’t help it”




“I pray she’s plain with you”
“We have you and your wife has our role models, I love the way you two proudly stand up for each other” He said and smiled.
“You know, a lot happened in South Africa, we saw hell. I was shot and I almost died. Haira played a very important role in my survival story, you wouldn’t believe she came into my kidnappers territory with a gun”

“What? Wait oo, did she really killed that lady? The one the press accused her of killing?” He asked and i inhaled.
“Yes but she did it in self defense, she killed her after i was shot”

Fiks rolled his eyes, I rested into the sofa I sat and slipped gently from the cup I held.
“What happened to Donatus?”
“He raped her, don’t worry, it’s just a year imprisonment, he would be out soon” I said not feeling remorseful.
“Nawa oo, your eye see for that country oo” He concluded.

“I am telling you, it’s a long story and i would have to take an entire month gisting you o” I said.

“What would you eat? Anita was here yesterday, she made some soup, I can call her over to do us some good food”
“Is her name Anita?”
“Yes”

“The one you came with to Haira’s birthday?”

“Yes”
“Oh, I would love to meet her personally, she’s so beauty but, but, but not as beautiful as my wife oo” I grinned.
“For your black mind abi?” He scoffed.

She returned home around 7pm in the evening, i have survived on fruit all through the day and i was so angry with her. She started boring me with business gist and I flared up.

“Haira, I am hungry” I yelled at her. She shook her hands close to the sides of her head.

“Don’t tell me Apollos and Eugene didn’t cook for you oo”
“Listen to yourself, you expect me to eat their foods? I don’t have the strength for arguments now, Just get to the kitchen and prepare me something edible”
She didn’t argue, she changed from her office dress and rushed to the kitchen. When she was done, I gobbled the food like an horse, I ate up to three plates.

“In three months, you would see changes, i just ordered new washing machines, i paid for adverts too” She told me happily as i ate.
“You would have to return to this house 3pm daily” I said not looking at her face.

“But why, we close by 6 and i definitely would have little things to round up before coming home”

“Look, i should come first in everything. What about my food? my sexual needs? I am used to having you around and i can’t cope with this new system” I said dropping my cutlery.

“Let me see to the business for at least three months, we can always make up in the middle of the night”
“3pm or sleep there”
