Me: okay. What’s the time are you ready..* I checked the time and it was 7am.*
I cut the call and go off my bed…

I went to get have my bath and get dressed…
I called Nolly

Me: Babe, I’m ready.. Where are you..

Nolly: I’ll be with you shortly.
I parked my stuffs after saying goodbye to my folks….

Nolly came by in an unusual way…

She wore this long native with some shades, things people wear to burials…

Me: What’s with your dressing…

Nolly: Nothing, I’ve not had my bath… so I just wore something.

I got inside the car, and to save her the stress, I decided to drive…

The journey to the airport took about 1hour after we experienced light traffic here and there…
8am, I was in the airport..

On getting to the airport I started remembering everything, how I entered the airport with Shola then… I’m a totally changed man now.

Then, I entered that airport as a naïve guy who was in love with just one person….

If shola hadn’t gotten pregnant, I probably wouldn’t have still be with her… but the love was there… she was my first love.. she introduced me to everything I know today…

We got inside the airport through the departure wing….

After locating South African through the notice board, we went straight… as we found people were already check-in for the journey…

I was in a heist but Nolly sat me down…

Nolly: Jide, I need to talk to you *She said as she smiles*

Me: What’s that baby?

Nolly: I’m going to miss you…. But at the same time, please don’t do anything funny… I know you’re committed to me now… but you know you guys…

I cut her short as I approached her lips with mine….

We were cut short by onlookers who were murmuring…

Me: I’m not going to do anything funny. Trust me

I stood up and joined the queue to checkin

Nolly: so when are you coming back babe? *As her face was shrinking….*
I went on to her, and hugged her…

[/B] Me:[/B] Baby, you shouldn’t be crying… common… I’ll be back sooner than you think… I love you. Okay.

I left her and joined the que….

Sooner than I thought, I was next in line…
I submitted my passport with the ticket… after verification… I was able to check-in…

One difference was that… at that moment… I realized Shola was just different.. everything about us was different…

I waved to Nolly as I got to the point of no return…
30minutes later, we got in the jet-way and I was inside the plane…

There was this huge feeling…. And nervousness…
What will Shola look like?

I got my seat in the plane, I was to share space with one old man…

His hair was grey all through… beards were full grown…

The man looked to be probably in his late 70s….
After the announcement was made, I put on my headset and went into a relaxing position.. In about 30minutes, we took off…

All the months I spent in S.A, I’ve been with Nolly, who according to me, is the most beautiful I had set my eyes on. Nolly is that near perfection everyone talks about… but then, I’m going to meet Shola… who tied me down with pregnancy, although our love is still there.. To an extent…

Since sleep wasn’t coming, I decided to start a conversation with my neighbor…

He was busy reading the airline’s magazines, looked like a first flier…

Me: Sir, did you enjoy your stay in S.A?

Elder: *He looks towards me, folding the magazines….* Well son…. You know, I can’t really say it was all fun…and it wasn’t..

Elder: Do you school there?

Me: Yes sir… I school in here in Pretoria… I’m studying I.C.T…

Elder: Ah! That’s good… * As he continues with his magazine*

The conversation wasn’t going as planned so I decided to try my sleep again…

I slept this time around and was woken by 2:45pm, the Pilot announced our arrival to Lagos…
I tried to peep towards the window through my sleeping neighbor….

I could see those houses… Oh baby!
I was so nervous, I couldn’t help myself as we began our decent towards the runway….

After the flight attendant announced the safety precautions, the man was woken.. and he sensed my nervousness…


Elder: Son, what’s going on…

Me: Girlfriend sir…

Elder: Oh… girlfriend … aren’t you young to be in a relationship?

Only if this man knew, I’m not just in a relationship, I’m going to have a family also…

Me: Yes sir… I’m still young… but we are in love..

Elder: Hmm, what do you know about love….

As smart as I could be, I checked his hand to see if a ring can be spotted… NO RING!

Me: Sir, I understand… Thank you!
We buckled our seat belts as the sounds of the engine started ramming harder in our ears…
5 minutes, we’re on the ground in Lagos.

After another 5 minutes, we taxied to the arrival jetway….. as we were asked to prepare for deboarding….

Sitting towards the tail section, it took some time to deboard.

We got out of the plane and through the jetway….
After recovering my luggage, I entered the airport….

And my eyes started wondering….about and about….

Until someone tapped me…
