'Jemeji' Season 1 Episode 161 Recap - Aired: Monday 16 October 2017

It's night time in Aji.
Senami is crying at the lodge.
Matron is consoling her.

Senami asks how the villagers could do that after she thought they had accepted her and were sorry for what they did to her grandmother.

Matron says she doesn't think the villagers caused the fire.
Folake brings a glass of water to Senami.
Senami says she has nothing left of her grandmother now.

Oviyon returns home, tired.
His mother asks why he keeps concerning himself with other people's problems.
Oviyon asks if she heard about the fire.
She says she did but it has nothing to do with him.

Oviyon says he and the boys tried their best but the hut still burnt to the ground.
Iya reminds him that it's the same way he was involved with Nowheyon and her problems.
Oviyon walks away.

Michael Welt and the lady come to the lodge.
They meet Folake and tell her they were told they could stay there.
Folake says they can't stay there but they can go to a hotel in Wesere.

They tell her that they can't go to Wesere as it's too late.
She tells them she can give them money for a cab.
They tell her they have money.

Folake says they can't stay because she lives
there with 6 other guys who won't be happy.
She pretends she's calling them then she says they are all asleep.

Michael Welt and the lady leave.
Outside the Palace, a white cap has been placed on Obi's head with leaves sticking out of the sides.

He tells the elders that he thought they agreed that Fonton's family would be Chief.
Fonton says he can't take it when he knows the gods have chosen Miyise.

Obi says the gods didn't choose him.
Johnde says Mausi wouldn't be there if it wasn't the will of the gods.
The elders leave.

Mausi asks Obi if he thought he could run from his destiny.
Obi says it's not his destiny.
Mausi says he's who he says he is, Otogan Miyise Adomeh.

Obi says he doesn't want it.
Mausi says Aji is in his hands now and if he fails her, he will die, if he leaves her, he will die.
Seyive is in the clinic.

She calls Neza.
He says he has been calling and she's not answering.
Seyive says she didn't see the calls.
Neza asks why she told Sesinu things that could put her sister in trouble.

Seyive says she didn't mean to get anyone in trouble.
Neza says there is trouble already and Kingsley even threatened him.
Seyive says Kingsley got someone to take her to him and she told him she didn't know anything.

Neza becomes worried and asks if she's sure she still wants to be in Aji.
In the morning, Senami meets Fonton and Doris in the village.

She asks Doris if she saw how the fire started.
Doris says she didn't see anything.
Senami asks what plans are in place to bring the perpetrators to book.

Fonton suggests she talks to her friend who is the new head of Aji.
Doris starts singing and dancing.
Fonton tells her to be quiet as it hasn't been officially announced yet.

Doris continues singing and dancing.
Oviyon enters the Palace and sees Obi dressed in traditional attire.
He congratulates him.
Obi doesn't look pleased to see him.
Oviyon apologises for what happened with
Sewedo

Obi tells him to just go as he's not in a good mood.
Senami walks in and tells Obi that her grandmother's house was burnt to the ground.
Oviyon tells her it's not the best time for that.
Senami says Obi is the Chief so he needs to find out who started the fire and who stole her grandmother's body

Obi tells her she's being very rude to think she can just waltz in and make demands of the chief.
Senami asks if he's being serious.
Oviyon cautions her

Senami says so the village title has gone to his head.
Oviyon tries to shush her again.
She says even if he doesn't help her she hopes he would use his title to do good.
She leaves and Oviyon follows her
He asks her if she's doing okay.

Folake walks up to them.
Oviyon tells her it's not a good time to see Obi.
Senami reminds her that they broke up.
Folake tells her not to say what she doesn't know.

Folake enters the Palace.
Obi asks what she's doing there.
Folake says she knows he's in a bad mood because of her and she wants to apologise for how she handled the Sewedo matter but she did it for him.

Obi says that's why they can't be together because the things she did are not normal.
He says he needs to be alone.
She says she's not leaving because they are in it together.

Obi says they are not Bonnie and Clyde and he did it alone so he will handle it alone
Folake's voice breaks as she asks if he's sending her away after everything.
He thanks her for everything but says he doesn't like what she's becoming around him.
She leaves.

Oviyon is walking Senami home.
Senami asks what the point is to have a friend in the Palace if he can't help.
Oviyon tells her that she comes on too strong sometimes.

Senami says she's passionate but she's not trying to hurt anyone.
She asks what he was doing at the Palace.
He says he went to apologise for his part in Sewedo's issue.

She says it was a dumb ass move he made with Sewedo.
He tells her to continue with the insults.
She thanks him for helping with trying to put out the fire.

He says it was mainly the boys who did it.
She says it's good to see the boys are behaving well now.
Oviyon says he is thinking of enrolling them in some skill acquisition programme.
Senami says it's a good idea. Oviyon says it was Nowheyon's idea but he's running with it.
Senami's demeanour changes and she asks how Nowheyon is doing.

Oviyon laughs at something he's reading on his phone.
He says Nowheyon has a wicked sense of humour.
Senami says she can walk home by herself.
He says he wants to go with her.
She says she's fine.

She walks off.
Fonton sees Michael Welt and the lady.
He asks how they slept.. They tell him they had to go to the hotel in Wesere because Folake said they were strange.
Fonton says he understands.

He asks what business they are doing in Aji.
Michael Welt says they are doing some field work, some kind of survey, that's why they need Fonton to show them around and they will be making an initial deposit of 5k.

Fonton say he's available.
They hand him an envelope with the money.
Fonton is shocked.
He tells them to go into the joint and take palm wine.
Sesinu calls Senami on the phone.
Senami is still on her way home.
She is relieved to hear from Sesinu.
She asks what happened to her.

Sesinu say she ran into trouble.
She tells Senami all Kingsley told her and she says he's not the bad guy but Saul is.
Senami asks if Saul confessed after he was arrested.

Sesinu says Saul died in the fire at their granny's house.
Senami is about to respond but she hears Mausi's jingling bells.
Mausi says 'Osenami Minasu. It is time.'
