Jemeji - Season 1 Episode 144 Recap

Folake comes to meet the elders at the palm wine joint.
She tells them that she's writing an article on Aji in a newspaper and thought she should start by talking with the elders.

Johnde tells her what she's doing is good but this is not the right time.
Folake says she won't take their time; she just needs people who have ground knowledge of Aji.
Johnde says they can do it very quickly.
Daddy Love cautions Johnde but Johnde says Folake said it was just quick questions.

Folake thanks him and takes out her recorder.
She asks for their names, Johnde gives his name but Daddy Love politely declines.
She asks Johnde how long he's been living in Aji.
He says he was born there and lived there all his life.

She asks what happens when the mantle of the chief is being passed to the next person.
Johnde says the mantle is inherited but under special circumstances where the matter of who will be the next chief arises, the elders will decide.

Folake asks if Otogan Adomeh inherited the position.
Johnde says he was selected by the elders.
Folake says she didn't know.
Johnde says Otogan's brother was having some illness so Otogan was appointed.
Folake asks what the nature of the ailment was.
Daddy Love stops Johnde from responding and tells Folake that they are leaving because they have something to attend to.

As he gets up he says he hopes Folake won't write anything bad about Aji in the papers.
Folake says they won't read anything bad.
As the elders leave, Folake tells herself that the story is definitely going on the blog.
Nowheyon meets Oviyon along the road.
He asks her what the problem is.

he starts crying and says Sewedo has lost his mind he was making sense at first then he just changed.
She says she has heard about the curse that follows the boys in her father's line; it's the same thing with Miyise and Sewedo, the obsession with the eyes.

Oviyon asks if she believes it.
She says she doesn't know, she thinks he needs medical attention.
Oviyon asks if Miyise told her he got medical attention.
Nowheyon says she doesn't know.
Oviyon says he thinks they should get him medical attention; they need to take him to the clinic immediately.

He assures her that it would be okay.
She says he knows it wouldn't be okay.
Peace is with Folake.
She tells Folake that she hasn't been able to tell Jonah what to do.

Folake tells her to just give him a list.
She asks if Peace has a smart phone.
Peace says no.
Folake tells her to start with that.
Peace says Jonah is a nice person and she doesn't want to do that to him.
She smiles and says she has thought of something.

Folake asks her what it is.
Peace tells her not to worry.
She walks away.
At the palace, Obi is with Sonayan.
He assures her that he's not trying to be vengeful and he has just been asking himself what Chief would do.

Sonayan goes to him on her knees, begging.
He tells her to stand up.
She sits back on the chair and says Chief would have taken him to Mausi and the last time Chief did that, the child disappeared for 20 years.
The attendants rush in shouting 'Akweyon!'
The new Akweyon walks into the palace holding a calabash.

She sets it down and lights a match.
She burns the leaves inside the calabash.
Obi asks what she wants.
She points in the direction of Sewedo's room.
Sonayan shouts 'No!'
She tells the Akweyon to let Mausi know that she can't have her son.

Obi says he's not sure it's a good idea.
Sonayan says she's taking Sewedo away from Aji and there will be no more killings..
Obi says that's not very wise.
Sonayan says Sewedo stays with her.
Akweyon walks up to Sonayan and flicks some of the content on Sonayan's body then she drags her feet on the floor like she's making a mark before leaving.

Sonayan begs Obi to let them leave.
Matron and Jonah are in Fonton's house.
Matron asks Fonton if he's sure.
Fonton says 'Gbamsolutely!' If they think they can keep him away from the burial then it means they don't know the man their daughter got married to.

Jonah says they are with him.
Fonton asks how they can't tell him not to attend his wife's burial after he has proven that he had nothing to do with her death.
Iya Oviyon walks in and asks Fonton if he's attending the funeral.
Fonton says he is.

She says she and Petunia had their differences but all that is forgotten and it's a good thing they are all attending the funeral, in case Petunia's people want to try anything.
At the lodge, Senami is watching the video on her laptop.

Oviyon walks in and she quickly closes the laptop.
Nowheyon follows.
Oviyon introduces her to Senami and says she came to see Senami about her brother, Sewedo, who she thinks is suffering from mental illness.

Senami says what they need is a specialist.
Nowheyon says it's a lot, especially as the police are involved.
Senami asks if Sewedo is the Prince and they are Obi's siblings.

Nowheyon says yes.
Oviyon says he knows it's not an ideal situation but if its really mental illness, they need to know as soon as possible.
Senami asks if Oviyon went to see a specialist when she advised him to.
He says this is a different situation.

She says when it's his own case, it's a spiritual condition.
She asks how he knows or how anyone can know.
He asks if she's okay.
She says maybe she doesn't know as much as she thought.
Nowheyon asks Senami if she would help her or not.

Senami says she's sorry, there is nothing she can do.
Oviyon says she just wants Senami to check him and say if he has a mental illness or not.
Senami tells them to see maybe Dr Jide can help.
Nowheyon stands up and tells Oviyon that she already told him it was a waste of time.
They leave.

Akweyon returns to the shrine.
Mausi asks where Sewedo is.
Akweyon points in the direction of the palace.
Mausi asks if his mother stood in her way.
She asks if Sonayan thinks she would be safe when Aji runs red with blood or she doesn't know the curse starts from her house?

She says to stop the snake, they must cut off its head;Sonayan might have stopped Sewedo from coming but the justice of the gods can be served anywhere.
Fonton and his family have arrived Petunia's family compound and they are facing off with the family.

Jonah reminds them that Fonton went to the shrine like they asked him to and they thought he was going to die but he didn't die, so what is it again?
Petunia's sister tells him to stop shouting and she tells Fonton to caution him.

Fonton says they have come for the funeral
and he wants to see how they will send them away.
The sister goes in and brings a bowl of water.
She pours it on them.
Fonton asks what she has done.
She says they have poured final water on them to cleanse the bad luck they brought to their
family.

Fonton asks what she means by 'final water.'
Her brother says it means whatever Fonton is thinking.
Jonah says they just used the water used in bathing Petunia on them.
Iya starts shouting.

Matron says it's just water.
Iya asks why they had to pour the water on all of them when they can see where Fonton is standing.
Fonton tells them that he will never forget what they just did and they will regret it.
Senami makes a call to Dr. Jide.

He asks why she's not been coming to work.
She says she took a couple of days off.
He asks if that's how they do things now.
She says she's calling him about a patient.
He asks whom.
She says Sewedo.
He asks if she's mad.

She says he's sick.
Jide says he's not sick but insane.
She says he needs their help.
Jide says they cannot provide the help he needs as he's not a psychiatrist, neither is she.
She says they can just examine him.
Jide calls her Florence Nightingale and tells her to use her time off to attend to him.

He hangs up.
Senami calls Oviyon and agrees to see Sewedo.
Fonton returns home with Jonah and Iya.
Iya asks Fonton if he can see what happened.
Fonton asks why she's just been complaining as if he poured the water on her.
She asks who she followed there.
He asks if he forced her.

Peace walks in and asks why they are all wet.
Jonah says it was Petunia's family.
Peace tells him to go in and change while she gets some water for him to take a bath.
Iya is surprised.
She asks if Peace is now with Jonah.
Fonton calls her a gossip and tells her it's time to leave.

Iya asks if he's chasing her away after she accompanied him to the burial.
He says he didn't force her to go with him.
She says she doesn't blame him andtells him to delete her name from his phone book.
She turns to Peace and asks if she is cursed to be with their family or there are no other families in Aji.

Jonah tells her to stop.
Iya asks if he's defending Peace.
Jonah says he can't stand and watch her insult Peace because Peace is going to be his wife.
Iya turns back to Fonton and they begin to trade insults.
Iya eventually leaves.

Fonton praises Jonah and says he's happy he was able to defend his woman.
He excuses himself and goes into the bedroom.
Peace asks Jonah why he's telling everyone that he's getting married to her when she hasn't even accepted.

He asks why she hasn't accepted.
She says she wants him to help her with something first.
He asks what.
She says she wants him to help her find her mother.

Sesinu returns to the lodge.
Senami asks where she's coming from.
Sesinu says she went to see Kingsley, to talk to him about what Senami said about him being a killer.
She asks if Senami lived with Kingsley as just a corper or she was sleeping with him.

Senami admits she was sleeping with him and says she feels gross enough already.
Sesinu asks why she did that when she suspects he killed their grandmother.
Senami says she didn't know at the time.
Sesinu asks if she just has a hunch or she knows for sure.

Senami says he confessed to her the day he kidnapped her and took her out the baby factory.
Sesinu asks why she hasn't gone to the police.
Senami says she wanted to but it's complicated.
Sesinu says things are always complicated with Senami.

Senami asks what she has done.
Sesinu stands up and says she's going out to get some real answers.
