Movie Story: Jemeji - Season 1 - Episode 110

It's morning in Aji.
Mausi is standing in front of Obi, outside the palace.

The elders are all sleeping on the veranda.
Mausi gives the guards a signal and they take Obi inside the palace.

Mausi claps loudly and the elders wake up.
At the shrine, Akweyon is dressed in white attire similar to the one she usually wears and the red cloth covering her mouth has been replaced with a white one.

She's carrying a little clay pot filled with burning coal.
Mausi returns.
Fonton returns home, very tired.
Petunia asks what he will eat now.
Fonton ignores her and gets on the bed.

She asks how the wake keeping went.
Fonton is snoring.
Kingsley meets Senami in the living room packing a bag.
She's in her NYSC uniform.

She says she figured in case anything happens they will see she's a Corp member.
He asks what the plan is.

She says she is going to the clinic like she normally would so there is no suspicion.
He says she's been overly cautious and maybe she's not as sure about it as she thinks.
He says it's not too late to change her mind.
She says she is getting Akweyon away no matter what.

At the clinic, Sulah's eyes are open but he's not talking.
Doris is crying beside him.
Matron is with them trying to make a call.
Doris asks her why Sulah is not talking.
Matron calls Dr Jide to let him know Sulah is awake.

He asks what Sulah said.
She says he's not talking.
He says he should be left alone as he's in a fragile state of mind.
Matron says he appears okay.
Dr. Jide says he must have suffered a brain damage but they can't be too sure so if he begins to talk, nobody should take him seriously.
Half-a-day and two of his boys come to Fonton's place.

Petunia comes outside to receive them.
Half-a-day tells her to call Fonton.
She says he's sleeping.
He orders her rudely to go and get him.
She says she wants him to sleep a little and she will serve them food in the meantime.

Half-a-day asks if Peace made the food.
Petu says she made it.
He says 'This your food.. ehnm.'
She asks what that means.
He tells her to go and bring it.
She complains that he's ordering her like his help.
He asks if she's trying to make trouble.
She goes in quietly.

One of his boys asks if he has a problem with Mama.
Half-a-day says once in a while it's good to put women in their place.
Petunia brings the food and he rudely asks what it is.
She says she will bring a tray.
She goes back inside the house and returns with a tray.

He rudely asks what it is again.
She says she put it the food on a tray and even added a malt drink but he's still complaining.
He says he won't eat till she kneels down and serves him properly.
She asks what that means.
He asks if she really wants him to answer her question as she knows he knows how to answer it.

She looks around and goes down on her knee to serve him.
Half-a-day's boys are shocked.
She goes back into the house.
The boys are about to talk but he gives them a signal to be quiet
Oviyon is ready to leave the house.
His mother asks what he's doing today.
He asks if she wants him to help her with anything.

She says she was wondering if he could go and see Mausi.
He says he guessed as much.
She says he has to.
He says he's fine.
She says he talks to himself yet he says he's fine.
She asks if he knew what Mausi meant when she said he knows how to untie the rope he tied himself with.
He asks when Mausi has ever made sense.
He says he has better things to do than worry about Mausi.

He leaves the house.
Folake calls Senami to ask if she heard anything from Obi.
Senami is at the clinic with Kingsley.
She says she heard Obi is still at the palace.
Folake says they won't let her see him.
Senami suggests she talks to Dr Jide as she heard he was there.

Folake thanks her.
Seyive arrives.
Senami asks where her bag is.
Seyive says she hid it so Matron doesn't see it.
Senami says it's a good idea.
Matron walks in and asks Kingsley if there is a problem for him to be there so early.
He says he came to drop Senami off.
Matron tells Senami to come and see the patient.
Half-a-day is done eating.

Petunia clears the tray.
He and his boys are about to leave when Fonton comes out.
Half-a-day complains that Fonton is not involving them in the burial process.
Fonton asks if Half-a-day is not the one controlling the masquerades.

Half-a-day says they ought to know everything.
His boy whispers in his ear and Half-a-day tells Fonton that they are leaving.
Fonton becomes suspicious.
He asks what's going on.
Half-a-day says it's nothing.
Fonton asks if he's sure.

Half-a-day says if he wants to see what they are doing, then he can come and see for himself.
Fonton follows them.
Senami is with Sulah.
Matron says she shouldn't have come today since the masquerades will be coming out.
Senami says she couldn't leave the patient.
Dr. Jide walks in.

He asks Senami what her assessment is.
She says she thinks it's Locked-in syndrome and he needs to get to Wesere for tests.
Dr. Jide says he would see to it.
He looks around and asks Doris why she doesn't go home to rest and eat.
Doris says she can't eat.

Dr. Jide tells matron to take her out to eat.
Doris says Seyive can buy and bring her bread.
Dr. Jide, eager to get rid of her, says 'No no no, that won't do!'

Kingsley walks in and Senami follows him out.
Dr. Jide tells matron to take Doris home and make sure she eats well and sleeps.
Doris says she can't leave her brother.
Matron begs her to go home.

Dr. Jide rubs his hands together in excitement.
Seyive runs into the clinic and tells Senami that the masquerades are out.
Matron tells Doris that they have to be careful as they go.
They leave.

Senami calls Neza to ask if he's ready
He asks if it's time.
She says it's time.
Obi is seated in the unfinished bathroom he was making for Otogan when he just arrived Aji.
He hears the guards telling Folake that she can't see him.

He goes out.
Fonton follows the goons into the forest.
He yawns and complains that the place is too far.
Half-a-day says now that Otogan is dead how will they divide Aji?
Fonton exclaims.

He looks in front and his eyes almost pop out of their sockets.
With fear, he asks what that is.
The boy who was tied to a tree in the forest overnight appears to be lifeless.
Fonton asks who he is.

Half-a-day orders his goons to wake him up.
Fonton asks what's going on.
Half-a-day asks if it's not part of their job.
They untie the boy and try to wake him up but he slumps.

They discover he's dead.
Everyone looks confused.
Fonton is almost crying.
Half-a-day tells him to calm down.
Dr. Jide enters the clinic reception room and locks the door.
He pulls the curtains shut and turns off the lights.
He goes into the ward where Sulah is sleeping and pulls the curtain tightly shut.

He looks at Sulah and says 'It's a shame, you certainly seem harmless enough as you are but who is to say for certain what you're thinking?
Paradox unto itself.
I'm sure if you could talk you would assure me of your silence but I'm also sure if you could talk, you'd ruin this entire process for me and even if you spoke and assured me of your silence, you and I know very well I would take convincing of your choice of cocktail of deceptive words.

I have come too far to believe the words of a lousy villager.
Not to worry, so long. '
He injects a harmful liquid in the IV and walks away
Sulah's eyes bulge out.
At the shine, Akweyon is still holding her clay pot with the burning coal.

Neza whispers to her that it's time.
She looks around.
He says if she has ever wanted to get away from Mausi, it is now.
She drops her clay pot and follows him.
The pot spills over and the raffia palm used to adorn the shrine catches on fire.
