Obi is standing in front of the palace.
The town crier announces that the old men will be first in line to pay homage to Chief.

The old men go and prostrate before Obi.
Dr Jide returns.
Fonton asks if he's still around.
Dr. Jide ways he wants to see Obi.

Fonton tells him that he can't talk to or see
Miyise anytime soon because the entire village will be coming to pay homage to Otogan through Miyise so Jide should forget it.

Kingsley is waiting in his car outside the clinic.
Senami joins him.
She says she's never seen such a thing as a whole village mourning.

Kingsley says it appears Chief was a good man.
He asks what she called him for.
She says she heard from matron that there will be no work in Aji till the burial which means Mausi will be away from the shrine for a while.
Kingsley asks where she is.

Senami says she's at the palace and now that Mausi is away, it's the best time to get Akweyon away.
Kingsley asks if Akweyon is not going to be with Mausi for the rituals.

Senami says Mausi has to perform some of the rituals alone.
Kingsley says it sounds very risky.
Senami says she hasn't thought it through but she sees an opportunity that can work.
He says he's not sure he wants to be a part of abducting a girl who almost attacked him.

Senami says Seyive will calm her down and Neza will be the one to get her from the shrine.
Kingsley asks what she needs him for.
Senami says they need a car.

He asks where she would take Akweyon and Seyive.
She says she's looking at a rehabilitation center for now, till she can get enough money to them a place.

He tells her to make sure Seyive is on board otherwise they will be stuck with a girl they cannot communicate with nor control.
Matron comes to see Iya Oviyon at home.
Iya Oviyon tells her about Half-a-day's goons entering her house and turning it upside down.

Matron says she's on her way to Fonton's house to tell him about his boys as enough is enough.
Iya Oviyon says she will go with her.
Half-a-day's boys are making a boy do 'frog jump.'

The slap him around and asks where he was the last night.
He tells them that he was home.
A woman is washing clothes nearby.
One of the goons sees the type of fabric Half-a-day picked from the shrub that night.

He asks the woman who the shirt belongs to.
Doris is at the clinic, still weepy.
She asks Senami how Sulah is doing.
Senami says he's stable.
Jide walks in and asks Senami if the patient made it.

She tells him there is no improvement.
She gives him the file and leaves.
Doris asks Jide why her brother hasn't woken up.
He says they are doing everything to help him.
She asks how he even fell when he's an expert at climbing trees.

She says his wife hasn't eaten anything since Sulah had the accident.
He tells her to go home and take care of the wife.
As soon as he leaves, Jide goes close to Sulah.
Papa Francis walks in and tells Sulah to wake up so they can drink palm wine at the funeral.
Sulah's body twitches slightly.

Dr. Jide tells Papa Francis to take it easy.
Peace serves Petunia a plate of rice.
Petunia takes a spoon and says it's tasty.
She thanks her for standing up to Half-a-day for her and says women need to stick together.
Peace says the charm didn't work.

Petunia says she knew it wouldn't work if Peace doesn't believe.
Peave says she believes.
Petunia says maybe it's because she touched it first but only Mausi can say what the real reason is.

Matron and Iya Oviyon come to ask for Fonton.
Petunia tells them that Fonton is at the palace.
She asks them what's going on.
Iya Oviyon says Fonton's boys have been entering people's home and scattering things.
Petu asks what the people did to warrant the treatment.

Matron says Petu cannot pretend not to know what's going on.
Petu tells Iya Oviyon that she's disappointed in her; after all they've done for her she should be supportive.

Iya Oviyon says because they gave her a basket of rotten tomatoes she should support their rubbish?
Petu tells them to leave her house before she gets the boys.

Iya Oviyon says she knows a lunatic never has anything good to say.
Senami and Seyive are in Senami's office at the clinic.
Senami tells Seyive that a rehabilitation centre is willing to take them in.

Seyive says what if Mausi catches them.
Senami says Mausi might be powerful in Aji but not in Lagos.
Seyive asks when they would leave.
Senami says when Mausi leaves the shrine for the burial.

Senami and Kingsley walk out of the clinic together.
Folake meets them outside and in a very meek voice, says she wants to talk to Senami.
Her face is a picture of despair.
Kingsley goes to wait in the car.
Senami asks Folake how the lodge is.

Folake says she will survive.
She says she's worried about Obi and hasn't been able to reach him since Chief's death.
Senami says he's going through a lot with the burial rites.

Folake says she wishes she knew how he was doing.
Senami says he will be okay.
Folake says she knows things are somehow between them but whenever Senami wants to go to the palace, she would like to come along.
Senami says okay but it can't be tomorrow because she was told that there will be masquerades out.

Half-a-day's goons ambush the boy who was with Oviyon that night.
He tries to run away but they catch him.
Half-a-day says only the guilty runs.
The boy says he didn't do anything.
Oviyon is with Neza inside the hut.
Oviyon sees a car approaching.
He asks Neza who he knows that's coming to see him with a car.

Neza asks if he has spoken to his ex- girlfriend.
Senami and Seyive walk in.
Senami is uncomfortable with Oviyon's presence.
Neza tells Senami that she can say whatever she wants to say in front of them.
Senami walks out and Seyive follows.
Oviyon looks hurt.

Neza looks confused.
Seyive returns with a note for Neza and tells him that Senami says he's not to show anyone.
She also gives him the drugs and wristbands that were returned.

She leaves and Neza reads the note.
He crumples it up and throws on the floor.
He asks where they are taking her to? Wasn't it through him they got to her because she comes so see him?
He sounds really upset like he's about to cry.
Oviyon reads the note out loud.
'Neza, found this in my office.

I Think Mausi knows we've been meeting with Akweyon. We need to act fast.
Will call you during the masquerade dance tomorrow to get Akweyon so we can get her to safety and treatment.

Don't tell Oviyon.'
Oviyon asks why he's upset.
Neza tells him to talk to his girl.
Oviyon says he's not a part of it and Senami is with Kingsley now.
He sees the boy.
Neza says Senami is carrying on like his own opinion doesn't count.

He storms out of the hut.
It's nighttime once again.
Half-a-day's goons are still beating the boy up.
Half-a-day asks him what he saw that night and who he was with.
The boy says it was just him.
Half-a-day says warns that they will tie him up in the forest if he doesn't talk.

The boy insists he's telling the truth.
Obi is sitting on the palace porch, with his head resting on his knees.
Dr Jide approaches him.

Fonton stops Dr Jide and tells him he can't talk Miyise or go near him because Miyise cannot talk, he has to remain silent and keep vigil for the first night.
Dr. Jide says he looks exhausted.
Fonton says that's why the attendants are with him to make sure he doesn't sleep.

He says Dr. Jide's job will just be to take Chief's body to Wesere.
Neza goes into the forest to dig up a bag.
He takes out a bundle of money from inside it.
Folake is sitting up in bed.
She tries to call Obi's line but no response.

She wonders if he's okay.
Kingsley and Senami are in the living room, looking at a map of Aji.
Senami asks how they will leave Aji without anyone seeing them.
He points to a spot on the map and says it's a back road that's well hidden.

He also shows her where the car taking them to Lagos will be waiting.
The boy has been tied to a tree and left alone in the dark forest.
He is calling for help but nobody can hear him.
Doris is sitting at the foot of Sulah's bed in the clinic.

She falls asleep.
Sulah fingers twitch and he opens his eyes.
Neza is on his canoe.
He mutters to himself 'Nobody will take you away from me.'
He starts to paddle.
