Monster Unleashed - Season 1 - Episode 10

“It’s Jason.”
Nancy recoiled. “Pick up already!”
I shook my head. “The guy’s too full of himself,” I flatly said, “He needs to learn Catherine Chilumba isn’t as desperate as certain other women are.”
“Why do I get the feeling you’re referring to me?” said Nancy, eyebrows raised.
“Sorry,” I lied, “I honestly didn’t mean to offend you.”

“It’s fine.” said Nancy curtly, standing up. “I’ll be in my cubicle. Call me if you need me.”
“Sure.”

Jason called about three times more but I still ignored him.

Half an hour later, my door flew open. I abruptly stood up and was more surprised than shocked to see Jason in my office, Nancy in his wake.

“Nancy,” I hotly said, “what’s the meaning of this?” I was pointing at Jason.
“Am sorry, Cathy. I tried to give you a call but Mr. Banda-”

“It’s fine.” I said, slumping back in my seat. “Leave us alone.”

Nancy nodded and closed the door behind her. Jason took a sit as he stared at me like he were starving and I were some yummy pizza.
“You’re enjoying this, aren’t you?” Jason asked flatly.

The scent of his expensive cologne hit my nostrils and I found myself too mesmerized to speak.

“Cathy, I asked you something.”
“Enjoying what?” I shrugged.
“Treating me like a fool.”
“Jason,” I said, leaning forward, “you don’t expect me to leave my work and come have lunch with you, do you? Besides, I hadn’t made any promise to meet you at O’Haggan’s so I don’t get why you taking this so personal.”

“My bad,” said Jason, pushing his chair back and standing, “I tried my best Ms. Chilumba but seems I’m forcing you into this friendship thingy. Am sorry for literally taking advantage of you last night. Have a nice day, Catherine Chilumba.” and he headed for the door.

Jason had just touched the doorknob when I said, “Wait!”

He turned on the spot, his face expressionless. “Did I forget something?” he asked tonelessly.

I shook my head, pushed my chair back and approached him. “Am sorry.” I quietly said.
“For what exactly?”
“For treating you as I have done,” I said, thinking about my next words carefully, “It must be all the work pressure taking it’s toll on me. It was just a kiss, I shouldn’t have reacted so childishly. Am sorry.”
“That’s the spirit!” said Jason enthusiastically, beaming at me. “You’re forgiven.” he added and pulled me into an embrace.

Not knowing what to do, I stayed in his warm masculine arms, inhaling his scent which turned me on to the core!
