ONCE A LOVER - Season 1 - Episode 20

SAME DAY – 6:21PM
I came back from the field totally tired and
exhausted, I was also injured by a bully and
rough player. That day match was really a bad
one, we play woefully and the result was very
disappointing.
“Weldone Mama.” I greeted Mama who was busy
preparing Dinner.

“Don’t go into your room with that stinky and
disgusting body, go and take your bath.” Mama
cautioned and commanded and I concurred.

In less than two minutes, I was through with
bathing; I sluggishly entered into my room while
using the towel on my body.

“Let me check if there is any message from that
idiot.” I said serenely to myself as I reluctantly
slammed the door behind myself. I switched on
the phone and it load for a while, I gently tossed
the phone at my bed just then the beep of the
phone could be heard, I checked and it was two
messages from an unregistered number.

The first message state thus: ‘Please, if I was
able to get that culprit out of the police custody
and I grant your requests, will my secret remain
a secret?’ I smile after reading the message and
I opened the second message and it state thus:

‘Please, if I may ask, are you a student or who
are you, beside why is that culprit so dear to
you?’ I replied the messages thus: ‘Sure, your
secret will remain a secret but only if you don’t
go back to your bad doers. I am not a student; I
am just someone that understood everything and
Daniel; not a culprit is really dear to me for every
reason’ I replied and send the draft.

In less than one minute, a message was sent
back by the principal and the message state
thus: ‘Daniel will be released tomorrow I promise,
and your requests shall be grant also… but can I
know you?’ I smile after reading the great news.

‘We can’t see one on one but your phone will be
sent to you without your memory card and please
don’t reply this message, let end this bargains
here.’ I replied and I send the message. I
switched off the phone and keep it under my
mattress. I am really overwhelmed with joy.
“Does that mean I am victorious? Yes I did it and
I succeeded.” I serenely said happily as I jumped
on my mattress. Shortly, I slept off.

NEXT DAY – 6:30AM

“Ola! Ola!!” Mama called from outside as I
sluggishly and reluctantly walked out of my
room.

“Good morning Mama.” I greeted kneeling before
her.

“How was your night my dear?” Mama asked
smiling.

“Fine ma…” I replied but unfinished.
“You woke up late, won’t you go to school?”
Mama asked doubtfully.

“Yes but I am going to school.” I replied and I
left Mama and I hurrily ran into the bathroom and
in less than three minutes I was out of the
bathroom, I used the towel and I creamed my
body with groundnut oil in substitute of body
cream and hair cream.

In less than five minutes, I was really for school.

“Mama, I am ready.” I announced and she
handed my t.fare and pocket money to me. I got
to the bus stop and in less than twenty minutes,
I was in the school.

Cynthia and Princess are already in the school,
they were chatting and smiling and I was really
surprised to see two foes talking, chatting and
even smiling at each other.

“Good morning girls.” I greeted from a distance
with smile all over my face.

“Good morning Ola.” They replied in chorus.
“You look happier today.” Princess observed.

“Despite the fact that our friend is in the police
custody.” Cynthia concluded sadly.

“I know all will be alright, I know Daniel is on his
way to the school…” I uttered sadly but
unfinished. Guess what. A police van drove into
the school compound, the van siren was not
blaring and the van driver drove straight to the
principal’s office and he parked infront of the
office.

“Weldone my officer, you can go.” Mr. Chorus
commented as the police officers jumped into
the van and the driver sped off.

I watched the scenario from a distance and I
was really happy and joyful that my good and
best friend is back in school.

“Daniel is back.” Cynthia screamed happily in an
alarming but angelic voice, her alarming voice
drew the attentions of some other schoolmate.

“My great friend is back, welcome back friend. At
last, I succeeded.” I though happily

“Can I have a minute talk with you in my office?”
Mr. Chorus requested.
“Yes sir.” Daniel replied with a frown face.

In less than a minute, Daniel came out of the
Principal’s office, he walked up straight to me
and he hugged me firmly.
“Thank you Ola, you’re one in a million.” Daniel
whispered into my ear and we disengaged.
“Princess, Cynthia, thanks for your immeasurable
support, I really appreciate.” Daniel appreciated
serenely to Cynthia and Princess.
“Daniel, what about you expel, hope…” Princess
questioned but unfinished.
“Expel? It has been terminated.” Daniel
announced loudly with smile all over his face.
“I’m really happy for you.” Cynthia uttered
smiling.
“The courageous one is back, Daniel the lion.”
Biggy hailed from behind and he shook hand
Biggy.
.
“Leo, Daniel is back in school.” Senior Jeff;
Senior Leo best friend whispered into Leo’s ear.
“What?” Senior Leo screamed confusingly.
“What about his expel?” Leo asked puzzled.
“Terminated…” Senior Jeff replied and his
statement left Leo’s mouth wide open in agape.
