(Few minutes earlier)
“Did you just say innocent?”The
Chairman asked.
“Yes.”I replied.

“Where’s the evidence to prove
your innocence?”The Chairman
asked.

“I have none.”I said.
“Then you’ve nothing to justify
your argument.”The Chairman
said.

“Actually i do,I’ve been working
in this school for a while now
and I’ve never not even once
gone against any of the school
rules,I feel i ought to have earned
your trusts.”I proclaimed.

“Earn our trusts?”The Chairman
began”Ofcourse you’ve earned
our trusts that’s the main reason
why we’re giving you this chance
to prove yourself innocent in
light of all the evidence against
you.”The Chairman concluded in
anger.
“Mr Jefferson i am afraid we’ll
have to call the cops on you
unless you can tell us where the
rest of the money is?”The
Principal spoke.

I hung my head down with only
one thought on my mind ‘It’s
over.’

“Before you’ll take any step i’ll
like to say this.”That came from
the Vice-Principal Isabella.”I think
Mr Jefferson here is innocent.”

She said those words and my
world lighten up,not at the
thought of been vindicated but
for the mere fact that she
believes in me.

“What makes you think so Miss
Willis?”The Principal asked.
“I need you to trust me and give
me 15 minutes to prove his
innocence.”Isabella said.
“15 minutes you say?Very well
then,what do you all think?”The
chairman asked the members of
board.

“Granted.”They all chorused.
Isabella left the conference hall to
who knows where,the meeting
came to a fifteen minutes pause.I
decided to use that opportunity
to speak with Zach.

“Hey buddy,how far with the
proceedings is the meeting
over?”He asked.
“No,Isabella i mean the Vice-
Principal said she was going to
find some evidence to prove my
innocence until then the meeting
has been postponed.”I said.
“{Smiling}That’s great.”He said.
“No Zach am scared what if she
doesn’t find any evidence,they
are planning on calling the
cops.”I told him.

“Well atleast she’s bought us
enough time to carry out my
plan.”Zach said.
“Which is?”I asked.
“Okay listen,so there is this friend
of mine who owes me a favor his
name is Tommy he deals in
smuggling goods in and out of
this country so we are gonna
have him smuggle you from here
all the way to India,where you
will lay low and go by the
name,Rajveer.”Zach said
excitedly.

“Dude i’d rather spend a few
years in prison than become a
victim of human trafficking or is
it smuggling and end up
becoming a fugitive all the way in
India,You do know I’ve my nanny
to take care of.”I told him.

“Dude there’s nothing wrong in
fleeing from one country to
another look at me i fled here all
the way from Mexico.”Zach said.
“Yeah and they’re probably still
celebrating.”I said jokingly and
we both laughed.

With Zach i always seem to forget
about my worries i couldn’t wish
for any other friend.

Fifteen minutes passed and the
meeting resumed.Everyone was
seated,i was standing in the
front and Isabella was no where
around.I was waiting in
anticipation the boards were
growing impatient.WHEN.

“I am sorry for keeping you
waiting.”She said as she walked
in.

“So have you found any
evidence?”The chairman asked.
I held my breath.
“Yes.”She said.

“Where is it?.”We all asked and
yes including me.

She brought out a tape and
inserted it into the video player.
“I had a cctv camera installed in
my office earlier on and this here
is a recording of everything that
happened inside my office
yesterday.”She said as she played
the video.

My eyes were glued to the screen
in anticipation until the video
clearly showed a man dressed in
black sneaking into the Vice-
Principal’s office and stealing the
briefcase,his face was clearly
shown as he was speaking to
someone over the phone we
couldn’t make out what they
were saying,he took some
money out of the briefcase and
left the VP’S Office.

“There you have it that’s the
evidence.This clearly shows that
Mr Jefferson here is being
framed by someone and he’s
clearly innocent.”Isabella said.
Just like the angel she was she
just saved me.I felt like hugging
her but all i could say was.”Thank
you so much.”which she replied
with a smile.

(5 minutes later.)
The meeting was over and in
light of all the evidence i was
vindicated,apologised to for the
mix up and all was forgiven as
my position and dignity was
restored.

I could see the look of hatred on
Paul’s face when the Principal
announced that i was still the
Personal assistant to the Vice-
Principal.

“Whew am i glad this is
over.”Zach said.
“Yeah i feel relieved all over
again.”I said.
“Ladies and Gentlemen please
put your hands together for Mr
Anthony Jefferson.”The Principal
announced infront of the
crowds.

An award was presented to me
and my salary was increased as a
form of compensation but i was
mostly grateful for keeping my
good dignity and my job and
none of this would have been
possible if it weren’t for
her.Isabella Willis was an angel
god had sent to my life.
I was standing in the hallway
discussing with Zach when one
of the junior staffs came to
deliver a message to me.
“The Principal wants you in his
office Mr Jefferson,the sheriff is
here and he will like to ask you
some questions.”He said.
“Alright tell him i am on my
way.”I said and he left.
“The cops had better catch that
guy before i get my hands on
him.”Zach said and was walking
away.
“Where are you going?”I asked.
“There’s something i need to
take care of.”He said and left.
I smiled and was just about to go
and meet the sheriff when i saw
Lizzy running towards me she
leapt on to me and hugged me
really tight.

“Thank God Tony you’re
alive.”She said.
What the?? Was i suppose to be
dead?
