There was also Someone’s five finger prints on her two cheeks, that single sight had boiled up my anger.

“Sharon”. I called. Immediately she heard my voice She sat up and used her hand towel to wipe her face, then looked at me with a smile which I knew wasn’t real.
” what happened? “. I asked her and she shook her head.

” nothing. It’s all settled “. She said and I frowned at her. Kelvin called ugochi and left with her so I went and sat down close to Sharon.
“Who beat you like this?”. I asked.
” Godson it’s okay. Just don’t worry about it “. She said, getting me more confused.
” You’re crying and you think I shouldn’t be worried? “. I asked confusedly.

” I’ll be fine just let it go okay?”. She said. Then Sarah tapped me from behind and I turned, she pointed towards a direction and I followed her hands to see Charly panting angrily and jekwu trying to calm him down. I stood up to leave then Sharon held me back.
“I’ll be back”. I said and she shook her head..

” promise me you’d let it go”. She asked Holding my hands tightly and I said nothing.
“You won’t do anything, promise me”. She asked again. I sighed out loudly and looked at her for a while then nodded before she left my hand. As soon as I got out, Kelvin called me. He sat with Kingsley,Bully and Melody. He told me it was Charly that beat Sharon but didn’t tell me the reason he did it. He only went on to ask me not to do anything yet that he’d handle it his own way. Charly was our fellow outlaw but he goes with school bus so, I didn’t know how Kelvin was going to handle it but i was willing to let go. The others on the other hand wasn’t okay with it though.
” that bobo f--k up oh. He just get luck say no be me. Him for don smell nyash”. Melody said and left immediately.
“Smart make we treat this boy FK now nah. See how him dey carry shoulder say him beat girl”. Bully ranted. It wasn’t surprising that they all wanted revenge immediately because almost everybody in our class had come to love Sharon because of her friendliness.
Kelvin ordered Bully to leave and he stood up immediately.

“If to say na me. Him for don dey find him teeth for ground like this”. He poured out his bitterness as he left. Kingsley didn’t say a word but, you could tell from the way he was hissing every now and then that he wasn’t okay with it either. I started having a rethink immediately. How should I just let him walk? Won’t I be the worst boyfriend ever?. I asked myself repeatedly as I walked to my seat. Break had automatically ended for our class as everybody had returned to class on hearing that someone had beat Sharon. They were all staring at me as I walked to my seat. Sarah joined me as soon as I sat down.
” thanks for informing me”. I said to her and she shrugged.

“Sharon is my friend too”. She said then went on to narrate what happened( that’s why she’s the Lord of gossip anyway). According to her; Charly hasn’t been happy with Sharon after their little faceoff in jss1, they haven’t been talking. Sharon had decided to make Peace with him today so, She followed him into the class tendering her Apologies repeatedly and Charly instead of reconciling with her seized the opportunity to insult her. She called her names and even went on to say she was nothing but a slave who carries my cloth and write my notes. That didn’t go down well with Sharon so, she returned the favour in double folds. When Charly couldn’t swallow the insults anymore he lashed at her and Sharon didn’t fight back.

“Sharon did nothing wrong to him and he just beat him like that.” She ended her report or should I say gossip. Any other day except today and I wouldn’t have listened to her words, and maybe if I hadn’t I wouldn’t have done what I was about to do. She stood up to leave then turned to me.
“I just hope you’re not planning on letting him get away with it. I hope you have a plan”. She said then left. Some girls are really serpents, she succeeded in putting a hunger for vengeance in me. Sharon wasn’t in class, she’d been taken to the tap topuncheder face. I stood up walked up to where Charly sat.

” Guy I want see you”. I said to him and left immediately for the back of our class, He soon followed walking as slow as he wanted. we had our gang handshake once he came then I started.

“Guy no vex oh but, I go like know wetin that LT do you wey make you beat am like that”. I asked and he smiled wickedly.
“That girl get mind dey yab me. I never even beat am well. she get luck, if no be jekwu, I for done run am down”. he said remorselessly and even went on to make more threats on what he’d still going do to her. Maybe he thought I was there to make peace with between him and Sharon or beg on her behalf, or maybe he’d forgotten that Sharon was my girl. He went on with his endless threats and when I couldn’t stand it anymore I gave him a headbutt on his nose, punched him hard on the tummy then kicked him on the chest and he crashed to the ground. He la!d There and watched me in shock, his nose already bleeding but I wasn’t done yet.

“It will do you no good if you don’t fight back”. I advised as I walked towards him. I tried pulling him up then he punched my stomach and I staggered backwards holding my tummy.

” very good now it’s a fair fight “. I smiled at him, he rushed at me and grabbed my waist then tried to carry me up but I held my ground. I knocked him on his back repeatedly with my elbow until he left me, then I punched his jaw and staggered back and ran into the class while I followed. The girls started shouting when they saw him stagger in but I didn’t care as i kept walking towards him. He came at me again but this time I was faster as I quickly shoved him to the ground then started stomping on his body and he swiftly kicked me down and jumped on me but I quickly turned him over. Held him down and rained punches on his face not minding where it landed.

Melody came and pulled me off him, and Kingsley and Bully came and pulled Him away. I pushed Melody away and ran towards them. My leg knocked down our class mopping stick and I picked and made to hit him with it but Kelvin caught it behind me, forced it off my hand and threw it way. He Also held me back from advancing towards Charly who had already gotten more than he bargained for. His Mouth and nose were bleeding and I still wanted more as I struggled to free myself from Kelvin then Sharon showed up staring at me disappointedly. I calmed down immediately and made to sit down on someone’s desk but Sharon held my hand and dragged me along with her outside.
“What have you done Godson?”. She yelled and I said nothing.
” you said you’d let it go”. She said calmly and I nodded.
“Yeah. Not till I was told what actually happened. He…”.

” by who? The same bunch of girls you tagged gossip squad? You’re now going to take their word over mine?”. She asked continuously.

“So what are you trying to say, that they lied?”. I asked her too and she shook her head.

“It doesn’t matter anymore. You didn’t keep your promise that’s all. Now someone is bleeding allover because you went to fight for me”. She said disappointedly and I giggled wickedly.

” So, that’s what you’re mad about? That I fought for you? Fine! I didn’t fight for you, is that..”.

“Of course you didn’t fight for me. You’re too paranoid to fight for anybody but yourself”. She scolded. My mood saddened the more, the fact that she was the one to call me paranoid hurt me the more but I tried as much not say anything to her. She noticed my angry face and unlike before, Sharon didn’t feel any remorse. Instead she smiled and continued.

“You’re mad at me too now right?”. She asked but I said nothing. The bell for break over had been rung and maybe if I’d just went back into class then, I would have escaped what was about to happen.
” Oh I forgot, it’s still my Arrogant boyfriend that hates..”.

“No Sharon. You don’t call me that”. I warned. Nobody has been as lucky as being warned when they Call me Arrogant, except they’re bigger than I am. Yet she didn’t take my warning.

“But, it’s the truth. You’re Arro…”. I shut her mouth with a Slap. She looked at me in shock and heartbreak, Me on the other hand was already crying in heart.
” You…you… Just slapped me?”. She stammered in a broken voice. A part of me wanted to apologise there and then but the other part that’d never let me apologise even when I’m totally wrong suppressed it. “Why will she call me arrogant when she knows how much I hated the word”. My proud mind said. But Sharon was right, I really didn’t fight for her, but for my pride. I fought because that’s what majority wanted me to do. She was only wrong to call me paranoid and arrogant.

“That still doesn’t change the fact Godson. You’re Arrogant”. She yelled in tears and I slapped her again. She kept on calling me Arrogant as she wept and even though it hurt me so much to hit her, I kept doing it anyway. First person to notice our angry exchange was Sarah.
She ran out and came to hold me back but I pushed her and she fell, she switched to Sharon and Sharon hit her and pushed her away too. Funny thing was Sharon didn’t even try to fight me back, she didn’t jerk my cloth like other girls would. All she did was call me that name, and it did hurt me anyway. Not just the name but her tears too.

I couldn’t hold back my tears anymore as It dropped. Our classmates started trooping out to separate us when Sarah called out for them. Bully and Kelvin held on to me tightly that I couldn’t free myself from their grip. deep inside I was happy they held me even though it was too late. Sharon wouldn’t let anyone touch her, not the boys nor the girls, she even threatened to bite some. when they all left her She came and started trying to pull Bully and Kelvin’s hands off me, she even went as far as hitting them but they just watched her without shaking. I other tried pulling away from them as well but there wasn’t any need to try though.
“Godson you have paranoia. You are Arrogant, go ahead and hit me. is this the best you got baby”. she screamed at me in tears then Chidimma appeared. where the hell has she been? All this wouldn’t have happened if she was here. She grabbed Sharon’s two hands off Kelvin’s shirt,and Sharon wept into her arm while Kelvin and Bully bundled me into the class. I dragged my hands off theirs with force and Bully pushed me. I ran to push him back and he held me by my neck ready to punch me but Kelvin held him back then asked me to leave their sight. I thought I was mad at everyone but, everybody was actually mad at me. I ran out of our class and went to the school toilet to cry. Real men don’t cry in public, I never returned to my class that day. I spent the rest of the day in B class.
