Stacy’s hand went up too, coming down to Albert’s face, but she has enough self-control to stop before her palm could meet his cheek.
She folded her palm and slowly dropped it, breathing heavily with half of her eyeballs hid in her eyelids. She’s glaring so bad like a petulant, rebellious child.
Anita and Albert’s eyes were still wide, especially Albert’s. Did his daughter just try to slap him back?
“Stacy?” His voice sounded low. “Did you just almost slapped me?”
Stacy bursted into tears suddenly, walking to the last staircase to sit on and resting her balled palms on her knees. She stayed there sobbing.
Albert looked at Anita, and Anita nodded at him.
He went to sit beside his daughter, staring at her as she shed tears.
“Sweetheart, I’ve tried very hard to overlook his shortcomings and bloody personality, but I just can’t. Do you know what a lover means? You share intimacy, souls and hearts and body. You share forever, and if forever gets shattered cos he later broke you, I won’t be able to take it.”
Stacy kept crying.
“I’ll even tell you that I tried to find his family. I heard the story of how his bathhouse worker mum and his graveyard guard dad are both dead, but still, there should be an aunt and maybe uncle, right? I tried to find them so I’ll see someone to hold accountable if he breaks you, but I found nothing. The only Fabio family in the Bronx belongs to a handyman, meaning Cove isn’t a Fabio at all. He has been fabricating his identity. He’s not only a killer, he’s a liar!”
“I know,” Stacy sniffled.
Albert’s eyes darkened. “You do?”
Stacy faced him.
“He’s Thiago, didn’t you hear when I said it earlier? His surname is X.” She sniffled again, chest rising.
“Wait wait…” Albert spranged up immediately, eyes growing wide with shock. “Did you just say X?”
Stacy looked up.
“What?”
“Did you say X?” Albert repeated.
“I said X!!” Stacy yelled, standing too. “I never lie to you and he said it himself cos he never lies to me too!”
Albert held his head with his two palms, his body shaking suddenly like he had caught the flu.
“Dad?” Stacy gulped, wiping her tears a little bit from her cheek.
Albert laughed amusingly, getting down the one staircase before becoming serious, the his eyes turned murderously hard.
“That is even a greater reason for you to stay off him!!! X? I won’t have you enter that trap! Do you know the kinda family you’re talking about? Those sickly rich animals forced people to stop calling the Australian president by his Excellency title cos they feel the president isn’t worthy of the title! Their family head Nathan X is the only one people address as His Excellency in that country. They’re literally ruling Australia, and even after Nathan’s death five years ago, no one could still dare address the President as His Excellency cos they’re still scared!”
“And do you know who killed Nathan? His own evil son Thiago X, and who is Thiago? The same boy you’re stupidly in love with? He killed his father, he was sentenced to fifteen years imprisonment, but after one month in jail, he set the penitentiary on fire, burning more than hundred prisoners. Everyone thought he died in the fire, but he actually escaped to LA! He has been hiding here cos that bastard finished uni since five years ago! He’s lying to and deceiving everyone including you, sweetheart. He’s a criminal!”
Stacy’s palms suddenly began sweating, and her armpits and foot.
As she sweated, she’s also feeling cold. Two in one which made her head spin, and she nearly fell.
Anita quickly caught her. “Beauty! Take a deep breath!”
Stacy couldn’t even hear. Her ears are boiling, oozing steam.
Albert’s secretary suddenly ran inside, holding his wife tablet to his chest. He’s obviously rushing from the office, and he’s panting.
“Sir, you need to see this!” He handed Albert the tablet.
With a frown, Albert took it, and the news from Australia displayed on screen lucidly.
→ The X Family that has been laying low since five years ago cos of the death of the family head—Nathan X, is now back to the public after an awareness made by the heiress of the family—Shelby X, this morning. According to her, her half-brother didn’t die in the penitentiary fire. In fact, he had escaped to Los Angeles in America five years ago under the cover of his disguise name—Covey Fabio. Now, Shelby and the whole Australia government are after the bloody criminal with a bounty that whoever captures her in Los Angeles would be awarded a sum of a billion dollars for a job well-done.
Albert finished reading and instantly turned the screen to Stacy for her to read word for word.
Stacy instantly felt dizzy from the shock. She felt queasy and rushed upstairs, holding her tummy.
Anita went after her.
“You should check the second news, sir.” The secretary said.
“There’s a second news?” Albert blinked, raising the tab to his eye level again to scroll.
Then, came the second news.
→ After laying low for five years, Shelby X is back to shake Australia with the family doings such as; Launching of her first Human Cryonics, Space Exploration and Satellite Tech. As at now, Shelby X is the richest human in the world with her newly-revealed net worth being multi-trillions. She overtook Albert Montana and Kaylee Wesley in the game. The world is still in shock about how a blind heiress could achieve that much.
Albert fell against the couch behind him. The tab fell from him, and his eyes felt dizzy too as he shook his head several times as if trying to convince himself he didn’t just get overthrown. He has been humbled.
By a blind Shelby X??
He gulped, dragging his palm across his face to fight his dizziness.
“Sir? Are you ok?” His secretary asked with concern.
Before Albert could reply, Stacy came rushing back downstairs with Anita at her tail, hollering.
“Beauty!”
“Sweetheart!” Albert stood straight, but Stacy just rushed past them.
Outside, her friends are just arriving. They came after seeing you circulating Australia news online.
“Babe! Cove… I mean Thiago is a crimin—”
Kehlani was still talking when Stacy got in her car quickly.
She drove out.
Albert and his secretary drove after her, and Anita drove out too.
The girls all packed themselves back into their cars, all zooming after Stacy on the road.

[Two-bedroom Apartment]
Dorian grabbed the two pillows behind him, freeing his back. He threw the pillows at Kaylee, but both could only land halfway to her. His energy ain’t that impressive yet.
“I never asked for a replacement, did I? I never asked for a Fuçkin replacement bîtch! I thought you knew me better than anyone? You should know I’d rather die than let anyone take my Fuçkin place!!! I am Dorian Wesley, your only friggin son! Not a nameless Jeremy!!!”
“I just knew you’d display your ungrateful tongue to me, and at this point,it’s irritating to even answer you, but yunno what? I’ll give you the reply you want cos you need it! Throughout the months Jeremy acted as you, I had peace! I was at peace with myself and I once wished you’d stay in coma forever and he’d continue acting like you! He gave me no headache! He didn’t R@PE! His stage presence was even sharper and fuller and yours! Jeremy was a better Dorian than you who’s the real Dorian! You foolish son!”
Before Kaylee could even finish saying that, Dorian already got down from the bed, lifting the monitor beside him. He threw it at his mother, but Kaylee quickly went out of the way. The monitor shattered.
Dorian immediately held his chest, squirting blood from his mouth.
“The clotted blood is starting to come out, but you really need to calm down and conserve your energy, Dorian.” The doctor said.
“And who are you to talk to me???” Dorian faced him with a devilish glare which didn’t freak the doctor.
“I’ve been working my arse off since last year, doing everything possible to keep you alive in coma and trying hard to make you wake!!! You will not ruin my efforts with your hothead cos if you do not sit and rest right now, you will slip back into coma and won’t wake up for years!!”
Dorian scoffed, spitting blood again —on the white bedspread this time.
Kaylee still stood where she was, but now she has dropped her purse, and her smile is derailing.
“What? Are you pained?” She scoffed. “Don’t forget I am your mother, and I know your only weakness is when people talk down on you. So now…sit your arse down and inhale.”
Dorian’s lips were still wet with blood as he sat in bed—right on top of the bloodstained sheets.
“Tell me, everything… everything…”
Kaylee smiled, stepping closer on her extra tall heels.
“That January night last year…..” She drawled intentionally, stopping right in front of him.
[Back To That Night]
Kaylee stood, slowly with shadowed, curious eyes…
“Why do you have my son’s face?”
“No….” Jeremy shifted back on his butt, literally dragging it on the pavement, fearfully.
Sensing he’s not gonna talk soon, Kaylee signalled to Angela to take Dorian to their private hospital since his pulse is still throbbing.
Angela obeyed and bundled Dorian’s bloody body back into her own car behind them.
She drove off, and Jeremy instantly stood. He began running back to Lynn’s dead body, but Kaylee blocked him, and he stopped with a gasp.
His chest is high, like he’s holding all his breaths there. He doesn’t look like he’s breathing at all.
“Are you Anita Wolfe’s son from Los Angeles?” She smirked.
Jeremy released all the breaths in his chest at once, and he fell back on the ground, gasping.
Kaylee squatted in front of him, smiling deviously. “Your mother is one of my loan customers, and I know you cos when loaning people in my bank, I take identities of family too. You and your twin sister were infants when your mother borrowed the loan, but year after year, she makes sure to send the new appearance of her family, so yeah…I know you, Jeremy Wolfe.”
Jeremy gulped, fingers scratching the pavement like he wants to enter the ground.
“And I was surprised too when I saw you had the same face as my only son, but at the same time, I wasn’t surprised cos doppelgangers still exist. Then you talked just now and I heard you have the same voice as my son too! Looking at you right now, he’s only taller than you by an inch… Gawd is really wonderful.” She laughed, so tricky her red lips seemed like it’d swallow him.
Jeremy gasped again when he heard a car honk from afar, and Kaylee looked back.
A car headlights shone slightly, but not for long before it disappeared. No one’s coming that way.
“Don’t be expectant, Jeremy.” Kaylee smiled again. “This road only has one cheap hotel at the end, and the hotel was closed just last week. I guess you and your friend were going to the hotel to lodge without knowing,” she clicked her tongue, glancing over Jeremy’s shoulder to see Lynn’s dead body still lying in blood. “May her soul rest in peace.”
She looked at Jeremy again. “Oh… it also leads to an exclusive tattooist shop where Dorian went to get himself tattoed, and the patrons of the shop won’t stop to help anyone on this road if they drive past… Don’t wait for help, none is coming, dear.”
And this is when Jeremy’s shaky energy gathered.
He raised his knee at Kaylee and jabbed her on the chin. The woman lost a teeth, and her nose bled as she fell on her butt with a very loud yelp.
Jeremy stood, turned around, and ran for his life with tears on his face. He ran past Lynn’s body on the ground and cried harder.
‘I’m so sorry, Lynn.’ he thought sorrowfully, but that was the end of his run cos he was attacked in the front by Kaylee’s guards.
The heavily-built men suddenly appeared from nowhere, attacking him from all angles.
For him to study moves and use them against the owner, he has to be calculative and calm, but right now he’s far from calm cos of the cold shock in him, so how will he be calculative at all?
He was taken down by the guards, and two of them placed their legs on him to hold him down.
Kaylee walked up to them and dragged him up, sending two blinding slaps to his face.
Jeremy fell back to the ground, crying. “You killed Lynn and the taxi driver, and I’m badly injured!!! Now you wanna hold me down? I never expected Dorian’s mum that I adored to be like this! You’re not human!!!”
Kaylee ignored him, taking a tissue from one of the guards to wipe her bloody lips slowly.
An extra guard brought a new car for their use.
“Get the girl’s body and the taxi driver’s body in the car, set the taxi and my car on fire, and wipe off the blood on the road. Also, take care of the road cameras and check for any witness…clear them.” Kaylee ordered.
“Yes ma’am!” The guards chorused.
They did as they were told, and Jeremy was forcefully dragged into the car with them too.
As they drove away, the guards set the taxi and Kaylee’s car on fire after they removed all traceable items from the two.
Jeremy and the two dead bodies were driven to a reserve forest where abandoned wells are.
The taxi driver’s body was thrown into one of the wells, and Jeremy’s eyes widened madly.
When the guards started taking Lynn’s body to the second well, he stood quickly.
“No…this is wrong… She has family too. Let’s take her to her family I don’t mind going to jail!!”
He was kicked off, and he stood immediately, dragging Lynn’s body with them stubbornly.
The moon sat brightly in the sky like a mute witness, and the dry leaves on the ground were crunching.
Kaylee picked a thick stick from the ground and slammed it on his head from behind. Jeremy lost his breaths and energy. He landed on the ground heavily, and dry leaves flew up.
Lynn’s dead body was thrown in the second well, inti darkness.
Then, the guards began gathering big stones to throw into the well so the few visitors of the forest won’t perceive their odour when they start smelling rotten.
As they piled stones into the two wells, Jeremy’s eyes brewed hot tears from where he lay weak on the ground, and his heart broke.
It got destroyed.
Coming to Los Angeles for Dorian’s concert was the biggest mistake of his life. He shouldn’t have done it.
If he’s opportune to go back in time, he’d chose to stay at home.
Now in a strange city, he’s getting involved in a murder case involving the mother of the singer he adored.
Fate is too cruel.
Kaylee’s phone was handed to her when it started ringing, and she picked too quick.
It’s Angela.
“Coma, Kay. Rian landed in coma. And the worse part? It’s indefinite. The doctor said he might not wake up for several years. It’s too severe I don’t know what to do…” Angela sniffled, crying.
Kaylee cut the call, showing zero emotions like she had been expecting this. She looked back at Jeremy on the ground and sighed.
She walked up to him and squatted beside his weak body.
“You’ll be 24 next year, and you only attended highschool. You didn’t attend uni cos your poor mum is too poor to fund your uni education… How about I change your life?”
Jeremy’s red, sorrowful face came up.
“Be my son. Act like him till he’ll wake up, and I’ll forget about your mother’s loan debt.” Kaylee said.
[Present Time]
“The fact that he acted as me is making my stomach twist in a mad kinda way, but I can’t blame you, so all the blames will be on him. He has to pay for acting like me!” Dorian threatened bitterly.
He’s still sitting on the bloodstain, looking so crazy with his haphazard hair waving around his head.
“That’s why he’s going to jail for trying to kill you and killing Lynn. He’ll be lucky if he doesn’t get death sentence.” Kaylee smiled.
“And why is Angela not here? He should be here, sucking my d_1ck!” He looked up with contempt.
“Oh what if I told you that bîtch is obsessed with Jeremy now.” Kaylee laughed slowly. “She seriously thought I wasn’t aware of his affair with you back then. If only she knew you never keep anything from me.”
“Obsessed with Jeremy? What the fûck!” Dorian shouted, but he instantly held his chest and vomited saliva. Just saliva.
“Stop raising your d@mn voice! You’re still too weak!” The doctor cautioned.
Dorian lay flat in bed, grunting.
“Going to jail suddenly doesn’t feel enough for this Jeremy. I need to off him with my hands.” He muttered.
“Can you forget about Angela now? I got you the prettiest doll in this country who you’ll have complete control over cos her father will soon drop dead.” Kaylee said.
“I knew I had a sweet mum,” Dorian smirked.
“All you have to do now is rest here and wait till we leak the fake news to the public.” Kaylee nodded.
No words were spoken again.
She left with the doctor, and outside the house, they met a couple—the wife who poured onion water on Jeremy and the husband whom Jeremy beat up that year.
Kaylee had contacted them.
“You’ll be the ones to discover this attic, and you’ll be the one to break the news.” She said, handing them fat money envelopes.
They took the envelopes with greedy smiles. “We’ll do a great job, ma’am.”
