Ana walked away from Ryan, she felt his eyes still on her back.
She smiled politely, brushing her dress down, but inside, her mind spun.
Seeing Ryan again had brought up old memories .. not bad ones, just… unexpected.
Mr. Kings stood a few feet away, watching the whole exchange.
His fists were in his pockets, but the tension was all over his face.
He wasn’t smiling.
Not even pretending to.
His jaw was tight, his chest rising slowly like he was counting his breaths.
He had seen the hug.
He had seen her smile at another man.
And that hug? It wasn’t just a hello.
It lingered ..too long for his liking.
Ana returned to his side, holding a small glass of champagne, unaware of the storm brewing inside him.
“You’ve been gone a while,” Mr. Kings said casually, but there was a sharpness to his tone.
“I ran into someone I used to work with. Ryan,” she replied with a small smile.
“He just wanted to say hi.”
Mr. Kings didn’t answer immediately.
He sipped his drink, then looked at her, his voice low.
“Looked more than just a ‘hi’ to me.”
” Are you jealous?”Ana asked eyebrows raised.
He chuckled, but it wasn’t warm.
“Should I not be? The man hugged you like you were his long-lost lover.”
Ana narrowed her eyes, half teasing. “You’re overreacting.”
“No, I’m not,” he said, stepping a little closer, lowering his voice so only she could hear.
“I don’t like seeing another man touch what’s mine.”
Her eyes widened slightly at that. “Yours?”
Mr. Kings leaned in, his breath warm at her ear.
“Don’t make me say it twice, Ana.”
She swallowed hard, caught between the heat of his stare and the stubborn flutter in her chest.
“I didn’t do anything wrong,” she said quietly, but she didn’t step away.
Mr. Kings studied her, then gave a small nod. “Just don’t give him another hug. Next time, I might not be so calm.”
Ana smirked, sipping her drink. “You? Calm? That’s new.”
He chuckled, but his eyes still hadn’t softened.
“I want to pee” She suddenly said, Mr Kings stare at her, for moment studying her face..
Before he nodded, he could already see the drunkeness in her eyes..

Alexa nudged Ryan’s arm playfully, then looked up at him with a teasing smile.
Ryan rolled his eyes, already sensing trouble.
“That look on your face… I know it,” he muttered.
“What do you want now?”
“I just want to know…” she said, drawing out the words.
“How do you know her?”
Ryan raised an eyebrow. “Who?”
“Ana,” Alexa repeated. “Charlie’s assistant.”
“Oh.
Ana,” Ryan nodded. “She used to work for Uncle Alfred, back in the day.”
“Really?” Alexa looked genuinely surprised.
“Yeah.”
“Wait… what happened? Was she your girlfriend or something?” Alexa asked, eyes narrowing with suspicion.
Ryan chuckled and gently pinched her nose.
“Don’t start talking nonsense. We weren’t like that. We were just friends. Anna… she’s that kind of person everyone liked. Gentle. Warm. Always greeted guests with a smile. When I helped out Uncle Alfred, I saw her a lot. We talked. We clicked. But that’s it.”
Alexa didn’t seem convinced. “Doesn’t look like just friends to me.”
Ryan slipped his hands into his pockets and gently removed Alexa’s arm from around his.
“I’m not doing this with you. You can keep imagining whatever you want.”
He paused, then leaned in a bit. “But be honest… do you see what I see?”
Alexa frowned. “What?”
“Charlie,” Ryan said, gesturing across the room.
“Do you think he likes Ana?”
Alexa froze for a moment before replying.
“Why do you say that?”
“Look,” Ryan nodded in their direction.
“The way he’s looking at her right now? That’s not a boss looking at his employee.”
Alexa followed his gaze.
Mr. Kings stood close to Anna.
His expression unreadable intense.
His body leaned slightly toward her as if protecting her from the room itself.
His eyes stayed fixed on her, even when someone else tried to speak to him.
Alexa quickly shook her head. “You’re imagining things. She’s his personal assistant. That’s all. He’s like this with all his staff.”
Ryan scoffed. “You really believe that?”
“You’re reading into nothing,” Alexa snapped, her tone sharp now.
“Charlie Kings doesn’t mix business with pleasure.”
Ryan tilted his head. “You sure about that? Because the way he looked at me when I hugged her? That wasn’t just possessive. That was jealousy.”
Alexa crossed her arms but said nothing.
“Come on, Alexa. You’ve worked around Charlie long enough. You know what I’m saying is true,”
Ryan added as his eyes followed Mr. Kings leading Anna out of the crowd, his hand gently resting on the small of her back.
Alexa scoffed under her breath.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about. Anna’s just his assistant. You? You’re the one imagining things.”
Then she brushed past Ryan deliberately, bumping his shoulder harder than necessary.
Ryan watched her go, then turned back to the scene before him.
His eyes narrowed as he watched Mr Kings and Ana disappear behind a curtain into the quieter side of the ballroom.
“Interesting,” he muttered.
***
“You’ve been drinking too much,” Mr. Kings said, his voice soft as he guided Ana toward the quieter hallway off the ballroom.
Ana turned, guilty but playful.
“I’m not drunk,” she giggled.
“I just feel like drinking more. Everyone’s handing me champagne like… well, like it’s water.”
Mr. Kings smiled and slipped his hands into his pockets.
He looked at her, her hair styled perfectly, the short black dress clinging to her curves, her cheeks flushed.
She looked damn good.
Dangerous, even.
“Can we go home?” he asked quietly.
Anna froze mid‑step, her heels wobbling.
He caught her effortlessly, easing her back to steady footing.
“ f+k.. take it easy,” he murmured.
“What’s wrong with you?”
She looked at him, eyes smiling softly with trouble brewing.
Then, without warning, she reached up,.
Hands brushing his neck, and tipped up onto her toes, kissing him softly.
His breath caught.
Mr. Kings glanced around.
The hallway was empty, just soft music pulsating from the ballroom and muffled voices in the distance. They were alone.
When Ana pulled back, she held him close.
Her cheeks still pink.
Her eyes half‑closed, lips parted.
“You know I love you,” she whispered.
His chest tightened.
“I’ve never loved anyone the way I love you, you are arrogant and mean but I love everything about you” she said, hands pressed on his chest, fingers tracing the fabric of his jacket.
He chuckled low, looking down at her.
“And I love you too baby doll, ” Can we go home now, my love?” he asked in a gentler tone.
Anna smiled lazily.
“Yes… let’s go. You can do whatever you want tonight, fight me, argue with me, love me, kiss me, fuck me I’ll be ready. Up for anything.” She threw her head back, laughing, and the hem of her short dress climbed a bit higher.
Mr. King inhaled sharply.
“You’re driving me insane,” he said, his voice low.
Ana wrapped her arm around him, leaning into his side.
“You know… I’ve never had sex in a hotel before. So many people say it’s different. Exciting.” She whispered it carefully, a playful look in her eyes.
He gave a deep laugh.
Before she could say more, he gave her a light smack on her a+s.
Anna gasped and giggled at the same time.
“You’re dangerous,” he murmured close to her ear.
“And you love it,” she replied softly, her voice melting into a whisper as they walked toward the exit together, him leading, her by his side.
