Episode 1: Tribe Rules (2)

Many years have passed since the time of Jide and Elena. The world is very different now. The stories of the past have become like old dreams. Most people have forgotten the names of the heroes who came before them. The grand white house where Jide and Elena once lived is no longer a beautiful home. It is now a place of broken walls and tall grass. The roof has fallen in. The windows are like empty eyes. Trees have grown through the floor. The people in the villages tell scary stories about this place. They tell their children to never go near the ruins. They say the ground is unhappy there. They say the spirits of the past still walk the halls. But children are always curious. Even when they are told to stay away, some are brave enough to look.

There are two main groups of people now. One is the Sun Tribe. The people of the Sun Tribe are strong. they love the bright light of the day. They build their homes on the hills where they can see the sunrise. The other group is the Rain Tribe. The people of the Rain Tribe are very clever. They love the cool water and the green forests. They build their homes near the rivers. These two tribes do not get along. They live in different places. They have different rules. They do not share their food or their secrets. The old peace is gone. There is a tall fence of trees and rocks between them. They are taught from birth that the other tribe is not to be trusted.

Kofi is a young boy from the Sun Tribe. He is very brave. He has dark skin that glows in the sunlight. He has fast legs and a big heart. Kofi does not like the rules that say he cannot explore. He wants to see the whole world. He is not afraid of the old stories. He thinks the ruins of the white house are exciting. He likes to climb the broken walls. He likes to look for old treasures. Kofi is the kind of boy who smiles when things get difficult. He believes that there is more to life than just staying on his side of the hill. He wants to know why the tribes are divided.

Tiya is a young girl from the Rain Tribe. She is very smart. She has bright eyes that see everything. She loves to read old marks on stones. She loves to listen to the wind. Tiya is not like the other children in her village. She asks too many questions. She wants to know how things work. She wants to know the truth about the history of her people. She does not believe everything the elders say. Tiya is small, but she is very quick. She can move through the forest without making a single sound. She is the one who found the secret path to the ruins.

Kofi and Tiya met by accident one day at the edge of the ruins. At first, they were both afraid. Kofi thought Tiya might be a ghost. Tiya thought Kofi might be a monster from the Sun Tribe. But they soon saw that they were just children. They both had the same look of wonder in their eyes. They realized that they both loved the mystery of the old house. They started meeting there in secret. They knew that if their tribes found out, they would be in big trouble. But they did not care. Their friendship was a secret treasure. They felt like they were the only ones who knew the truth about the world.

Today, the air feels heavy. The sky is gray and the wind is cold. Kofi and Tiya are at the ruins again. They are standing near a very old tree. This tree is withered and dry. It has no leaves. Its branches look like thin fingers reaching for the sky. The tree stands right in the middle of what used to be the garden. Kofi looks at the ground. He sees something strange. There is a piece of stone sticking out of the dirt. He calls Tiya over. They both start to dig with their hands. The dirt is dry and hard. It gets under their fingernails. They do not stop. They want to see what is hidden underneath the dead tree.

After a long time, they find a box. It is a heavy box made of gray stone. It is covered in moss and dirt. There are strange symbols carved on the lid. Tiya touches the symbols. She feels a little shiver. She recognizes some of the marks. They are the marks of the first King. The first King was the leader who united all the tribes a long time ago. Kofi helps Tiya lift the heavy lid. It makes a loud grinding noise. They are both holding their breath. Inside the box, there is a scroll. The paper is yellow and very old. It looks like it might break if they touch it too hard. They move very slowly.

Tiya carefully unrolls the scroll. Her hands are shaking a little bit. Kofi holds one side and she holds the other. The writing is in an old language, but Tiya is smart enough to read it. She starts to read the words out loud. Her voice is just a whisper.

The scroll was written by the first King of the united tribes himself. He wrote it as a message for the future. He wanted people to know the truth. As Tiya reads, her eyes get very wide. Kofi listens closely. Every word feels like a heavy stone falling into a quiet pond. The secrets of the past are finally coming out.

The scroll says that the Curse of the Blood was a big lie. For many years, the tribes believed they were cursed. They believed that their blood was different and that they could not live together. They believed that if they mixed, something terrible would happen. But the scroll says this is not true. The lie was created by a wicked advisor. This advisor was a man who worked for the King. He was very greedy. He wanted to take the throne for himself. He knew that if the tribes were united, they would be too strong. He wanted to make them weak by making them fight each other.

The wicked advisor told the tribes that they were enemies. He told them that their ancestors had done bad things to each other. He made up stories about the curse to keep them apart. He wanted the people to be afraid. When people are afraid, they are easy to lead. The advisor wanted to steal the power of the King. He wanted to rule over a broken world. The scroll says that the tribes are actually one family. They have the same heart. They have the same spirit. There is no curse. There never was a curse. It was just a trick to keep them from being happy and strong together.

Kofi and Tiya are shocked. They look at each other. All the things they were taught were wrong. The fences and the rules were all based on a lie. They feel a mix of anger and sadness. Why did people believe the lie for so long? Why did they let the wicked advisor win? They look at the old ruins around them. This house was supposed to be a symbol of unity. Instead, it became a symbol of fear. They realize that they have to tell everyone. They have to show the scroll to the elders of the Sun Tribe and the Rain Tribe. They have to stop the fighting.

But as soon as they finish reading the last word, something happens. The air suddenly becomes very still. The birds stop singing. The wind stops blowing. Then, the ground begins to shake. It is a small shake at first. It feels like a heartbeat under their feet. Then the shaking gets stronger. The broken walls of the white house start to rattle. Stones fall from the top of the house. Kofi grabs Tiya’s hand. They try to stand still, but the earth is moving too much. It feels like the world is about to crack open. They are very scared.

A deep sound comes from deep inside the earth. It is a low growl. It sounds like a giant animal is waking up after a long sleep. The withered tree starts to crack. Its dry branches break and fall to the ground. A large crack opens in the dirt right where the stone box was buried. Dark smoke starts to come out of the crack. The smoke smells like old fire and cold stone. Kofi and Tiya back away. They want to run, but their legs feel like lead. They cannot move. They can only watch as the smoke gets thicker and darker.

The smoke starts to take a shape. It grows taller and taller. It becomes a giant shadow. The shadow is bigger than the trees. It is bigger than the ruins of the house. It has no real body, but it looks like a tall man with long arms. The shadow towers over the two children. It blocks out the light of the sky. The whole garden becomes dark. The shadow looks down at Kofi and Tiya. It does not have a face, but two bright spots appear where eyes should be. These eyes are glowing with a scary red light. They look like burning coals.

The giant shadow with the red eyes looks very angry. It makes another low growl that makes the children’s bones shake. It feels like the shadow has been waiting for someone to find the scroll. It feels like the shadow is there to keep the secret hidden. Kofi holds the scroll tightly against his chest. He knows this is something very bad. Tiya is trembling, but she does not look away. The red eyes lock onto them. The shadow reaches out a long, smoky hand. The ground shakes one more time, and the red eyes glow even brighter. The children are trapped in the darkness.

The mystery of the tribes is much deeper than they thought. The lie of the wicked advisor was just the beginning. Now, a great power has woken up. The ruins are no longer just a place of old stories. They are a place of real danger. Kofi and Tiya are just two children against a giant shadow. They have the truth in their hands, but they might not live to tell it. The red eyes watch them. The shadow moves closer. The air is so cold that they can see their breath. Everything is silent except for the sound of their own hearts beating fast.

What will happen to Kofi and Tiya? Can they escape the giant shadow? Is the shadow the spirit of the wicked advisor? Or is it something even worse? The scroll is the only thing that can save the tribes, but first, they must survive the night. The red eyes burn in the dark. The ground is still. The shadow is ready to strike. The secret of the "Curse of the Blood" is out, but the real battle has only just started. The children are alone in the ruins, and the darkness is closing in on them.
