The First Lady Episode Ten
When the First Lady heard the voice recordings played by Leke, she was really scared. Everything she ever said to him was in his phone. She never knew the man was recording their conversations and keep proper documentations of everything that has happened between them since the day she called him to come to the capital city. She knew there would be serious consequences if the voice recordings are published on the internet by the blogs. Not only will she be embarrassed and ashamed online, she did not want her husband to hear the things she said to Leke. So, she decided to let the sleeping dogs lie.
"Well, I have seen that you are determined not to ever go into the bedroom with me. I admire your courage. I admire your ability to stand up strongly for what you believe. I cherish how you have resisted everything I did to force you into giving me bedroom food. I must commend you for being a good man and standing strong even in the face of provocations from me. You are such a courageous man. Indeed, it was a mistake not to have married you. No matter what poverty was doing to you and your family, you have refused to spoil your good name or to damage the values you were taught by your parents. In this town, men like you are rare.
Some men would have jumped at the things I offered you to do what I want. But even with the money and even with the arrest of your wife, you have refused to give up. Well, I will release your wife." The First Lady said.
"Good for you. Not only to release my wife, you will allow us go back to our small house without being disturbed. You will never call me again to ask me to go to the bedroom with you. You will never use the police to harass us again and you will never desire me again. Go and desire your husband. You are a married woman and there is no need to be jumping from one man to the other anymore. You chose your husband, so you have to stick to him even if you don't like him. It was the choice you made. No body forced you to marry him. You chose to marry him because he has money. Having made that decision years ago, it would be wrong for you to come back to me and start demanding bedroom action. If you want to marry another man, you have to divorce your husband first." Leke said with firm confidence. The First Lady listened to him intently.
"You don't understand Leke. It's you I love." The First Lady said, attempting to go back to her nice words, using her sugar coated tongue, but Leke cut her off.
"I don't want to understand anything. And I forbid you from loving me. No married woman should love me. I'm a married man. I'm trying to keep my marriage vows to my wife and you are forcing me to break the vows. Don't ever say that I'm the one you love. Go and give your love to your husband. He is the one you chose to marry and not me. I can never come back to love you. No matter the amount of money you offer me, I can't return the love you are giving. No matter how long my wife is detained, I can't
follow you to the bedroom to give you action.
We are done! Make the call and have my wife released with immediate effect or I will tell the blogs and newspapers to publish the voice notes. I don't need to remind you of the consequences if they go ahead to do that. So, be fast before I make the call." Leke threatened....
To show that he was not joking, he pulled out his phone again and flipped out the dial pad.
"You can see my phone, I will make the call now if you don't have my wife released." Leke said to the First Lady. She pulled out her own phone and immediately called the police DPO.
"Please, release that woman immediately. Don't charge her to court again. Bring her to my house right now." The First Lady said over the phone.
It did not take 30 minutes before Leke's wife arrived at the secret house in a police van. When Leke saw his wife and how she looked malnourished, he was heartbroken. He felt so sad that his wife had to suffer that way. She felt the First Lady was wicked.
"Look at what you have done to my wife just because you want me in your bed. Look at how malnourished my wife looks. She has suffered from your wicked heart." Leke said to the First Lady.
"Leke, I'm sorry. Forgive me for this. I just wanted to scare you into accepting my demands. I didn't know this would happen." The First Lady said.
"You knew she would suffer. You accused her of stealing, what did you expect the police station to be? A hotel? Look at my wife." Leke said tearfully.
"I did not steal anything from her. I was just here to beg her about the job. I have now realized I was making a mistake. She is a very wicked woman." Leke's wife said.
"Please, the two of you should forgive me. I'm so sorry." The First Lady said tearfully. She was truly feeling remorseful after seeing how Leke's wife had suffered.
Leke took his wife and left the secret house.
They went home, packed their things and moved back to their small house.
As God would have it, one month later, Leke got a good job paying N1.5 million per month.
"I must apologize to you because of the way I behaved at the state capital. I was pushing you to do something wrong. I was trying to escape poverty, not thinking of the consequences of what I was telling you to do. I have now realized my mistakes. Please, forgive me." Leke's wife said. Their lives have become better after he got the job and they now live in a beautiful house.
"I forgive you. I clearly understand everything. I don't blame you. I blame poverty. But we will never be poor again." Leke said, as they hug each other.
