Aubrey’s POV

I sighed tiredly and walked back to cla-ss ignoring Liam’s call. For the first time in my life, I’m going to get detention because of Liam.

I know it’s not entirely his fault, he just wanted to know what’s wrong with me but still….. Anyway that’s bygone, I have to get ready for detention after school.

I went back to cla-ss and just rested my head on my locker, the students are having lunch so I’m the only one in cla-ss.

Few minutes later, they trooped in but I didn’t make the mistake of raising my head. I just wanted to be left alone.

“Aubrey” Zoey called in a question like manner probably when she noticed me.

“What exactly is wrong Aubrey that you can’t tell your friends? Did we do something to offend you?” she asked and that was when I was for-ced to raise my head

“You’re misun-derstanding me Khloe, I just want to be alone, that’s all. Nothing is wrong with me”

“I don’t believe you and I will never believe that nothing is wrong. Don’t worry, it’s obvious you don’t see us as your true friend yet” she concluded and sat down a bit angry

I wanted to explain things to her but the teacher came in so I decided to wait until closing time.

Min Seok’s POV

I don’t un-derstand Aubrey’s unusual behavior lately. She wasn’t with her friends for lunch and when I decided to check up on her, I found her in cla-ss with her head bowed.

I wanted to walk up to her and ask her what’s wrong but on a second thought, I changed my mind.

I’ve tried my best to avoid Liam and I won’t just let everything go to waste now. I came to school to read, not fight over a girl.

Min Ju is absent in school today too and I wonder if the shame and embarra-ssment will allow her come back to this school.

But if she doesn’t come, she’s going to have to spend an extra year in highschool because we’re almost done. Just few months left and we will go to college after that. Although, I’m not sure if I will be attending college yet.

So if she goes to any other school, there’s no way she will be admitted as a transfer student.

Liam’s POV

Closing time

I waited for Aubrey and her friends outside their cla-ssroom and they came out few minutes later.

“Good afternoon” I greeted them

“Afternoon” they all answered except Aubrey

Khloe and Natalie turned to give her a questioning look but she ignored them.

“Let’s go home girls” she said and started walking away but Khloe and Natalie didn’t follow her

“Start talking” Natalie said glaring at me

“I…. I might have” I was still saying when the principal’s voice cut me off

“Aubrey and Liam, to my office now! I mean right now!” she thun-dered and left

Aubrey turned back taking the path to the principal’s office and I had no choice but to go with her.

“What did I tell both of you during lunch? Are you trying to be disrespectful?”

“N.. no ma” Aubrey stuttered

“We actually forgot ma’am” I quickly tried to cover up for us

“Whatever” the principal said with an eyeroll “I wanted the detention to be for just this week, but I’ve decided to prolong it.

It will end next week Friday and if you make any mistake within that period of time, I’m just going to add a week to it and it will keep increasing like that”

“Yes ma” we chorused

“Good. Both of you are going to clean the old sto-re and library before the end of next week or let me say by the end of next week. Failure to do that and you will have an extra week for detention.

Your time starts now and remember, you are not to exceed two hours after school daily. Leave” she said and focused on her work

I rolled my eyes and huffed before leaving the office with Aubrey. We got outside and met Khloe and Natalie outside the principal’s office.

Oh boy! This is going to be tougher than I imagined.

“Why did the principal call for you?” Natalie asked with her hands folded below her che-st

I explained to them, stuttering at interval because I know I’m in a de-eper mess.

“Didn’t I warn you?” Natalie growled “I don’t even care what happens. Just have it at the back of your mind that if Aubrey falls sick, you’re going to pay for it.

I’ll advise you to clean everywhere yourself and not stress her one bit. Goodbye” Natalie said and turned to leave but she stopped again.

“Make sure you don’t do anything Aubrey and make sure you take care of yourself. Bye” she said, pec-ked Aubrey’s cheek and glares ha-rd at me before leaving with Khloe

I thought Natalie was the most quiet among Khloe’s friends. Unbelievable!

Aubrey walked to the old sto-re quietly without saying a word to me. Her silence is killing me and I’m sure she knows that.

She started dusting everywhere and removing the cobwebs. I had to stop her when I couldn’t take it anymore.

“What is wrong Aubrey? Why are you behaving this way?” I asked with a cracked voice

I think I’m going to believe that I’m really in love with Aubrey now.

She kept quiet, withdrew her hand from mine and continued cleaning.

“Aubrey, don’t you love me?” I asked making her stop. Looks like I’ve finally gotten her!

“Do you want us to break up? If you’re not happy being in a relationship with me, I won’t for-ce you. Just please stop this act”

Just when I thought she will give me a response, she sighed de-eperly and continued with what she was doing.

“Aubrey” I called with a more cracked voice this time and she finally turned to face me.

“I’m fine Liam, don’t worry about me” she said and wanted to continue but I went closer to her and pulled her to sit somewhere with me

“You’re not fine Aubrey, tell me what’s wrong” I said adamantly

“I’m really fine Liam, I’m serious”

“No, don’t you trust me?”

“I do. Okay, I’m just bored, I feel lonely” she said looking down

“You feel lonely? What about your parents?”

“They’re not at home”

“Wow! So you mean you’re at home all alone?”

“Uhhm…. Not really! I leave with my boss’s daughter so it’s not only me”

“Ohh…. Will your boss daughter permit you to go out anytime you feel like?”

“Yes. If that’s the case, why don’t you go out with Khloe and Natalie when you’re bored or even me?”

“I’m not really an outdoor person so it’s going to be ha-rd for me”

“But you should still go out once in a while. Promise me you’ll do that?”

“I promise”

“Smile for me” I said smiling at her

She blus-hed shyly and lowered her gaze.

“Uhhm…. Aubrey, can I kis-s you?” I asked lowly

“Oh Lord please let her say yes” I prayed within me
