I was waken up by the sounds of the cars and humming of the people, I stared around everywhere the road is alre-ady busy.

“How will i start my journey? Where will i go to? Who will I turn to in this big city?

The thoughts about how to start my life in this city runs into my mind.

I stood up, folded my wra-pper back to the bag and just about to leave the shop a lady approached to me.

“Oh my world!

I shouted with so much scared written all over me.

“Who are you and what are you doing in my shop?

She shouted and stared at me from head to toe.

“Am so….rr…y Ma….ma”
I stammered with a shaking voice.

“I said what are you doing in my shop?

She shouted again with a furious voice.

She is so mean what of she happen to arrest me for pas-sing the night in her shop”
I thought and my whole b©dy was even shaking in fear.

“Are you deaf? Can’t you talk or what? I said what are you doing in my shop?

She shouted again being so so mean.

“Am sorry Ma for pas-sing the night in your shop”
I apologized with my hands folded and expecting her to do the worst to me.

“You did what? sle-pt in my shop!

She shouted with an angry voice.

I took my bag and ran out immediately without waiting to hear what she say to me or call the police on me.

The only way for me to survive in this city is to look for a job before hunger will kill me and my unborn child.

I walked around to see where I will see sales girl wanted but all to no avail.

“How can a big city like this you will not see any job vacancy for a sales girl?

I walked to a big mechanic shop and sat down un-der the Ukwa tree(bre-adfruit)

It’s alre-ady afternoon since morning I started looking for work,could it be that nob©dy want a sales girl in this city again or what?

I yawned as my stomach started tumbling and the worms in my stomach fighting for food.

I used the last money on me and bought snatch water and bre-ad,if you see the way I was eating the bre-ad like a hungry lion you will know that I have not eaten for weeks.

I have to continue my journey in search for a work lucky for me I will see,I carried my bag(Ghana must go)on my head as people mopped at me.

I decided to go to shop by shop to ask for work,

“Good afternoon Ma!
I greeted a lady that owns a provision shop.

“How may i help you?

She asked as she looked at me so strange.

I breathed and asked,
“plea-se Ma did you nee-d a sales girl in your shop?

She looked at me from head to toe and started shouting,

“See me see trouble o ooo! Who be this one nah? I don see things for this city,na so una dey carry bad luck come for persin shop to ask for work so una go block am business,you think so you go get me? Nah big life be that one,go tell the persin wan s£nd you say you no fit get me”

“Am sorry Ma!

I apologized and made my way out.

I overheard her shouting,
“Your plan don fail!

I stood up and turned my back,I saw her sweeping the entrance of the shop.

“Carry your bad luck and go! I don sweep am, you no fit get me”

She shouted as people c@m£ out to watched her.

I shooked my head and sounded,

“Is that how people are in this city? How will I get work now?

I continue and still trying my luck,all the shops I went to they will looked at me so strange and gave me insults but still I never gave up.

I c@m£ across another shop and decided to try my luck,I bec@m£ so shocked when I saw the lady again.

“You again!

She shouted.

“Am sorry Ma! I don’t know it was your shop”

I apologized and ran out.

“Don’t run! Come back!
She said.

“You mean me?

I asked to be sure if am the one she is calling.

“Yes,come back”

I went back to her,
“What did you want?
She asked.

“Ma am new in this city,I got nob©dy,no family no relatives,plea-se Ma did you have any job for me,I promise to be loyal and humble to you if you employ me,you will not regret employing me in your shop so that I can survive in this city”

She looked at me with a pity face,

“I un-derstand! I was once like you before God lift me up so If I did not be of help to you that means am so selfish”

“Am willing to employ you and give you a home to call your own”

She said to me and my heart started beating with so much joy.

I knelt down and thanked her with tears of joy,

“Thank you so much Ma! You won’t regret having me”

“Its well! You will be helping me in the shop”

“No problem Ma!

“So what’s your name?

“Am Esther Ma!

“Okay,Esther let’s go inside let me show the prices of the stuffs”

“Okay Ma!

“Drop your bag there”

I dropped my back,we went inside the boutique she got a very big boutique filled with beautiful designs of dresses,including male clothes and beautiful accessories.

My heart filled with so much joy finally I have gotten a work from a good woman and I will be so greatful to her.

She called out rejoicing.

“Mama! Emy Dollars will be coming tomorrwo with his kinsmen to pay my bride price”
She shouted rejoicing.

“Are you serious!

She shouted with smiles.

“Yes Mama! What I have been expecting has finally come,I can’t wait to be marry to my dream man”
She rejoiced.

She hvgged her and said,

She laughed with joy.

“Chioma will nee-d to start preparing,tidy up the compound,cook a delicious food for our in laws”

They went inside to do some necessary things.

The bride price was payed and within three days they did their traditional marriage,the traditional marriage happened to be the talk of the two villages,the next day they traveled back to the city.

It has been three weeks since Esther started living with her madam, she has been so good to her and treated her like her own family but the problem she have is the husband who keeps haras-sing her S-xual.

She shouted.

She cried out.

“You are such a great lair! You think I did not seen you trying to s£dûç£my husband? Leave my house before you will snatch my husband away from me”

She shouted and pushed me out.

She pleaded for her not to s£nd me out that she got nowhere to go but all her pleading fell on deaf ear.

She threw her bag and pushed her out from the gate,she warned the gateman not to open the gate for her.

She cried and cried so bitterly,
“I thought my suffering has come to an end now I have to face another suffering of my life”
