BACK TO DALANIE'S POV

----------------%%%----------------

After a night's rest, I got up early in the morning. I've decided to stop worrying about Zachary and Francesca and start focusing on my own life.

Besides, Kael and Damon are coming to school today! I'm think I'll wear something inviting.

How does a pink and white striped sweater and light blue jeans tights sound?

I got changed and went to get breakfast.

"...so I think it's great that you and the boys talk to Dal."

"I agree," Dad's clear voice rang throughout the room. Oh dang, mum must have told him.

"Thank you for understanding!"

That's Kristen's voice. What is she doing here? I walked down the stairs to see what was going on.

"Mornin', Dal!"

I got startled. "Woah, uh. Hey! Morning!"

Kristen ran to my side and gave me a warm, comfy hug. Her sweaters always felt so soft and nice to lean on. "You've been through a lot. We can talk on the way to school."

I smiled, wanting to break down so badly. But I had to keep it in. "Thank you, Kris."

She answered by hugging me even tighter.

"Skipping breakfast?" dad asked.

I nodded. "Not feeling good enough to eat."

"That's okay. Pack an apple, though. You can eat it before school starts if you're feeling up for it."

Kristen grabbed an apple from the fruit bowl for me and grabbed my school bag that was lying

on the sofa. "We'll take our leave now. Breakfast was great, thank you aunty! I think you should wake Lilith up now," she said with a wink.

"Oh yes! I almost forgot!" mum said and rushed upstairs.

Dad smiled and waved at the both of us as we dashed out the door.

"You know you can talk about it anytime you want to, right?" Kristen whispered as she stopped at a traffic light.

"Yeah," I merely said.

She nodded and we stayed in silence for a while. But only long enough before I started to break down.

"Kristen... I-I don't know what to do..." my voice trailed off weakly.

"Dalanie."

Instead of replying, I continued to cry.

"Dalanie. Listen."

Kris continued only after I finally dried my tears. "Right now you have two choices. Move on, or stay in your misery. Which are you going to choose? Zachary made his choice, and you ought to too."

The traffic light turned green, and as we moved on, I took in a deep breath and said, "I'm moving on."

Suddenly, I felt a glimmer of hope in my heart. Yeah, so what if he's going to betray me? I won't show him that I'll be brought down that easily.

Like a hero in DOTA, no matter how many times they're brought down, they always end up rising and continuing.

Playing DOTA for four years should have taught me more than just that.

"l'm moving on," I repeated loudly. From the corner of my eye, I saw Kristen smiling light-heartedly.

"You made a brilliant choice, girl. Don't have any doubts," she said.

Kris turned up the stereo on the car and we started singing our lungs out.

"Who's that sexy thing I see over there? That's me, standin' in the mirror! What's that icy thing hangin' from my neck? That's gold, show me some respect~"

(A/N: Above are the lyrics to the song Me Too by Meghan Trainor)

About ten minutes later, we reached our school grounds and Kristen parked the car. Just as we got out, a deep voice with a hint of smugness in its tone greeted us.

"Wuzzup?"

Kris and I spun around eagerly, knowing full well that it was Damon.

"Da-moan!!!!" I yelled excitedly and we ran into his open arms.

"Go away, I don't miss you girls at all," he chuckled as he pulled us closer.

"Yeah, I hate you too. Don't block my way," Kristen rolled her eyes playfully as we returned the tighter hug.

"Hey girls! Wow, the food here is good," came a voice from behind Damon.

The three of us looked at Kael, who was biting into a hotdog. "What?" he looked at us puzzled in the middle of chewing.

"Oh well, glad to know y'all are okay," I smiled. "C'mon, classes are starting soon. You'd better finish that hotdog before first period, Kael."

My last sentence earned a huge roar of laughter from everyone. Kael actually eats a lot but he works out so much that he keeps his excellent body shape.

As the four of us walked through the school's big and strong wooden door, we were greeted by Alex and Alexa.

"Welcome," they bowed before us.

Kristen and I turned to look at each other and tried to stifle our laughter.

"Mmm..." Damon and Kael walked in, clearly pleased.

"Good food..." Kael muttered.

"Not food again," Alexa groaned.

The six of us continued walking towards the lockers, with everyone looking at us.

"Isn't that Damon and Kael?! From Kingston High?!"

"Oh yeah! What are they doing here?!"

"I heard that they transferred."

"We'll see them everyday!!!!"

"Ahhhhhh!!!"

Girls were drooling all over Damon and Kael. Guys were looking at them in envy as of all the girls' attention were on the hot guys.

Amidst all the noise, a very loud and delicate sound of high heels clicking and clacking the marble floor rang through the common corridor.

"It's Francesca and her sidekicks!" Kristen whispered urgently.

All the noise died down immediately. Only Francesca and her sidekicks could be seen as people stepped aside, afraid of getting in her way.

A clean aisle was made and directly across the six of us was the infamous group of three.

The atmosphere was very tense, like a sheriff and a bad guy having a PK duel in a Western set. A draft of cold wind blew from outside in through the windows.

I could hear Alex and Alexa whispering to Damon and Kael. "Francesca - the one right in front in a hot pink dress - may try to charm you both. Don't fall for her trap just like we-all-know-who did."

Zachary, I thought, unable to control myself. So what happened? Did they sleep together in the end?

"Aww... dear sweet, innocent and fragile Dalanie..." she came over and stroked my cheek. I jerked back. "Zachary was so great in bed. You can ask him. He must have had the time of his life too. Oh, who are those two hot gentlemen behind you? You got some backup boyfriends? That's impressive, I'll say."

I gritted my teeth.

"Don't give me that, you b*tch!"

Then without warning, she advanced forth and slapped me tightly. Everyone witnessing this cringed, but no one stood up to have a say in the situation.

Instead of cowering in fear like people would usually do, I decided to stay strong and show her that I wasn't an easy pushover like she thought I was.

I didn't break down, I didn't say anything. I stood still.

"Dal..." a few whispers from my friends could be heard. I lifted my chin, took a deep breath and said calmly.

"You can kick me. You can punch me. You can slap me. But you can't kill me. I don't die that easily."

Francesca snickered. "Very well. I gave you chances to think before messing with me," she said. Raising her hand, she brought it down fast.

Slap!

Haha, no. That wasn't the sound of me getting slapped. That, was the sound of my hand catching her arm in midair. I gripped her arm as tightly as I could.

"Think twice before you mess with me," I warned in a cold tone.

Although it wasn't clear to most, it was very clear to me. Francesca wavered. She wavered when I grabbed her arm. She wavered when I said those words to her. She's aware that she met her match.

Another cold gust of wind blew in.

"It's on, Dalanie," the now-helpless girl in front of me struggled from my grasp and I finally let go.

Ding dong! The bell rang, cutting the silence. Francesca and her sidekicks turned to the opposite direction and ran off.

However, just as the three ran away, one of the sidekicks, Kora, turned back to smiled at me.

At least I think she smiled. But it wasn't some kind of evil smile. Instead, there was a really strong sense of a genuine smile.

I decided not to think too much about it as the witnesses of earlier on's situation started to crowd around me, closing up the gap between Kora and I, and praising me for standing up to Francesca.

"Where's Zachary though?" A girl among the crowd asked.

I didn't want to answer, and my friends seemed to sense that. They told everyone to go for class or the teachers and maybe even principal might come out and reprimand us all.

In a flash, there wasn't a single person in sight except for the six of us.

"Thanks guys," I mumbled and gripped my bag strap tightly. "We'll be late. Let's go."

•~•

At both geography and biology classes, I couldn't concentrate. Not even one bit. My mind was occupied with so many things. Zachary. Where was he? Is he okay? Wait, I said to move on. So why did I even have to stand up to Francesca? I could just have let her have him, right?

Of course I was extremely relieved when the lunch bell rang.

My thoughts were still filling my mind when Alexa came to sit with me at the table.

"You did great there, really," Alexa broke my train of thought. "Other than Kate, you're the only girl who's ever stood up to Francesca."

I looked up. "You seem like the kind who would, too."

She grinned. "Maybe. But she doesn't bother me. So why should I bother her? Still, if ever she does, I'll make myself the third girl who'll stand up to her."

"That's great," I smiled at my plate.

"This afternoon you're going to Café Delight right? Could I come too?"

"Sure."

"Hey," Alexa tried to lighten the mood. "What do you think of Damon?"

"Uh-huh?"

"What's that supposed to mean?" She narrowed her eyes.

"Oh, er. Yeah! Da-moan's cute! He's definitely cut out for you."

"Really?! You think?!" Alexa clutched her cheeks and blushed. "OMGOMGOMG!!!"

Wow. Shocker. This is probably the one and only time I've seen an emo girl getting all excited over a gamer guy.

"You've known him all your life, I thought."

"Yeah, I have. But recently I developed on crush on him..."

I laughed. "That's cute. My take on this is: go for it. Just try, I guess."

"Yeps, I guess I should, but I... don't wanna get rejected."

"Oh please, who isn't scared of rejection? I bet even players feel a bit bad on the inside if they get rejected!"

"I suppose."

"So, see you after school then!" I winked and got up to return my tray and head back to class.

•~•

Today had been so dramatically eventful I had no time to organise my thoughts.

I put my books back into the locker and stepped out the school building to see my friends waving happily.

"Leggo!" Damon winked.

I gave a small sideward smile.

Suddenly, a familiar red sports car pulled up outside the school gates.

"Z-Zachary?" I mumbled, shocked at the sight of him.

Everyone turned to face him and spread their hands out. Kael stepped forward and growled fiercely at Zachary.

"Step. Away. From. Her. In case you didn't know, you're no longer any of our friend," he said, gritting his teeth, when Zachary rolled down the window. He lifted his sunglasses and propped them on his head.

That messy hair... Those soft pink lips. That hotness radiating through the area.

Zachary peered over to look at me. I turned away.

"Dal... I'm really sorry. I know that nothing I do can reverse the time, and I really regret it."

"Since you regret it, which you probably know you will, why did you still go and sleep with Francesca?!" Damon yelled, waving his fist then punching the air.

Zachary ignored Damon and continued. "I didn't attend classes today because I'm really scared to see you. But after thinking about it, I know you will forgive me. Right...?"

I looked up. He had a smile that kinda said 'Because you love me, you'll forgive me and everything that I do, be it in the past, ptesent, or future.'

A moment of silence went by. My friends, in between us, were busy turning their heads, looking at our reactions.

They bit their lips each time time they looked at me, and row led each time they looked at Zachary.

I took a huge breath, stepped forward, and saw Zachary's face light up.

"No."

Shock. Then a crestfallen face. "Wh...what?"

"You heard her! Now run along!" Alexa pushed up her sleeves, reveling her tan and toned arms.

Wow... I really envy~

Alright, alright. Now isn't the time for tan and toned arms. Zachary, in utmost shock of rejection, reversed the car a little and was stopped by a high-pitched squeal.

Eh. You guessed it. It was Francesca. "Came to fetch me, daddy?"

"What the f*ck?!" Kristen exclaimed.

Francesca turned and glared at Kris, but decided not to pick up a fight with her. That was weird. Why not? I mean, it's good, but Francesca ain't that sort who would let that kinda matter rest.

"Go away, you sl*t!" Zachary waved his arms like he was waving a pesky fly away.

"Aww, don't say that. You're embarrassed!" she kissed him on the cheek and without invitation, hopped into his car.

"Kora and Verity will be waiting if we don't go now."

"Go where?" he replied and drove off.

Look at that! He's succumbing to her requests just like that! And you expect me to forgive him?!

"Maybe he's trying to make you jealous?" Kristen offered.

Alex frowned. "Why the hell are you siding Zachary?"

"I'm not!" she denied frantically.

"Great. Our afternoon is ruined. What's the plan now?" Kael sighed.

"I'm going home," I muttered, completely drained. Turning around slowly, I dragged my feet towards my car.
