Chris’s Pov:

I was about to walk into the ward when I overheard Iris talking to her friend about someone she loves.

My heart skipped 💓
Who is Iris talking about?
What if she doesn’t love me like I do love her?

Thoughts kept running throu-gh my mind.

“Who are you in love with?” I asked as I walked in.

Iris bec@m£ visibly stunned as Glenda gulped nervously.
“Uhmm…. You didn’t tell me you were coming back” Iris said still in shock

“Sorry I just forgot something but that doesn’t answer my question” I said
Iris scratched her head and exhaled de-eply.

“I have to go iris… Excuse me!” Glenda said and rushed out.
What’s up with these two?
“Did you hear anything Chris?” Iris asked anxiously
“Yes….” I said as her eyes wi-de-ned in shock.

“What? Whatever you heard is not true! I never meant it” Iris said

“What are you saying? I only heard you say that you love someone” I said
“Oh that? I was just saying that I love my baby sister a lot” She said and I smiled.

I felt a little disappointed as I hear her say that.

But why am I disappointed?
Was I expecting her to say she loves me?

I shrugged it off.

Iris’s Pov:

Some days later, I was discharged from the hospital.
And honestly Chris has been a savior to us.

He was so kind that I started wondering if he was the same arrogant j£rk I used to know.
I stared at his picture….

I kept looking at it and imagining it smiling at me.
Why have I suddenly like Chris?
I used to hate him a lot…
I even took a bullet just for him…

And I don’t even regret it.
“Oh Chris! What are you doing to me?” I scratched my head.
“Sister Iris! Do you love him?” Tina’s voice sma-cked me into consciousness.

I bec@m£ startled.
“Gosh! Tina you startled me!!” I rolled my eyes.

“Am sorry about that sis but do you?” She asked as I looked away.

“Tina you are too little for such things… Focus on your studies for the meantime” I said but actually I don’t know why a p@rt of me kept saying yes to Tina’s question.

“OK sister.. But truth be told! I can see that you look him from the look of your eye” Tina smiled

I rolled my eyes.

“But how do you see it in my eyes?” I asked now interested.
“I want to focus on my studies” She said as I pushed her pla-yfully.

“Get lost you little rascal” I said as we laughed.

“Oh my gosh girl! Am so nervous” I said as Glenda applied some makeups on my face.

“You don’t nee-d to be Iris… I mean you are going on an official d@t£ with Chris” Glenda said

“That’s the more reason why am nervous and he’s gonna come pick me up by himself” I worried

“Come on Iris… This is going to be the best day of your life” Glenda said as I smiled.
“I hope so Glenda! And today marks the end of the adulterous life I’ve been living” I said as we laughed happily.
Actually am so nervous about this d@t£.

I just hope Chris and I get to know each other even if in a friendly way.

I heaved a sigh of relief as I kept peering into the dressing mirror in front of me.

Chris’s Pov:

I brou-ght out the box of ring from my pocket and smiled.
And today I’ll formally leave the kind of life I used to live….
I will start up a better life together with my Iris.

You think it’s too fast right?
Yes it’s too fast for me to propose to her but I don’t just want anyone to take her away from me.

I know I love her so much… ❤
I combe-d my curly hair and sprayed some perfume on my b©dy.

Smiles escaped myl-ips.
I looked super handsome..😉
Just then, my phone beeped.
I picked it up…

it was a message!
From Iris who I now saved with “Heartthrob”😘
🗨Am done now Chris…🗨 I re-ad aloud and smiled.

Time to go for what I want.
I put the ring box in my pocket as I picked up the flower which was meant for her.

I headed straight to the garage and saw Donald waiting for me.
“Let me have the car keys Donald… I won’t be nee-ding your services tonight” I said as I took the key.

“But sir…” He stammered
“Kindly leave my sight” I said as he quic-kly walked away.
I drove out of the house and headed straight to iris’s ap@rtment.

I exhaled de-eply before coming out of the car.

I was about to knock on the door when I heard her conversing with her friend.
I decided to eaves drop.
“My goodness! You can not be serious Iris…. Are you saying that true love doesn’t exist?” Glenda asked

“Yes Glenda! Men are animals and believe me they have no clue what love is, do you know why?” Iris said
“No” Glenda replied
“Because love doesn’t exist… Love su-cks Glenda! Men are the most terrible creature and I hate them all” Iris said.
Tears dropped down my cheeks.

Her words kept beating so fast in my heart.

I was so gobsma-cked… 😲
And heartbroken 💔

the ring box fell from my hand and landed on the floor.
it made noise so Iris and Glenda noticed someone on the door.

I quic-kly rushed into my car leaving the ring box and flower on the ground.

Iris’s Pov:

We heard a noise on the door.
I quic-kly rushed to the door and opened it.

We saw Chris’s car drive out of the house.

That was when I saw a box and flowers.

These are Chris’s….

Why did he leave?

I opened the box and my jaw dropped…
