Maddy’s POV

My heart was beating a thousand miles an hour as I watched that door open, the hallway light spilling into our dark space, illuminating a silhouette of a guy ... probably J.G.

But wait ... something seemed familiar about that figure ... the way his posture leaned a little bit to the left, those extra long arms ... no, it couldn’t be.

“Maddy? Maddy! Where are you?” My heart skipped a beat as that familiar voice yelled my name. And then my whole body sagged in relief, too much in fact. My stomach roiled and I pushed away from the two other girls to a corner of the basement where I didn’t have to worry about hurling on anyone. “Maddy?! Are you okay?” A cool hand gripped my neck then scooped up my hair.

I nodded and then stood up straight, “y-yeah, all good.” Once I turned around I was faced with none other than Troy. A wide Cheshire Cat grin fell on my face. My arms had a mind of their own as they looped around Troy’s neck and hugged him. My body wanted nothing more to stay hooked with him and never leave his side.

Isabelle cleared her throat, “I hate to break up the merry moment, but ummm ... what’s going on?”

Troy and I’s moment came to an end and I let go of him.

As Troy was about to speak, another shadow fell over the doorway. "T-Troy?" A very feminine voice asked hesitantly. "Is she okay?"

A low but audible growl erupted from Isabelle as she laid eyes on the person in the doorway: “Flora.”

The whole room fell silent and everyone was staring at Flora who had cowardly bent her head down. “I-I am so sorry.” Flora’s voice was soft and filled with sorrow.

“Sorry won’t cut it,” Isabelle spat.

“Not even close,” Kay stated in anger.

“Guys, I know you don’t like Flora because she was the main person behind all this ... but she came clean and told me where to find you all."

I stared at the girl in the doorway. Her face was cascaded with fear and sadness. I knew that Flora must have turned over a new leaf, hopefully.

Isabelle gasped and I looked over at her to see she was running forward, towards a figure that stood behind Flora. “Vinny!” Suddenly Isabelle collided with Vinny and hugged him tight.

Kay rolled her eyes along with me.

Troy wrapped his arm around my neck and moved me closer to his side. I could feel him bend down till his lips brushed my ear. Then a whisper, Troy spoke to me: “ready to get out of this place?”

My head started to bob as I wanted nothing more than to leave this place. “Yes.”

Troy smiled and then started to lead me out of the room, but before we could reach the door some male’s voice started to shout Kay’s name.

I stopped in my tracks as I could tell the voice was getting closer and closer to the room.

Sure enough not even a second later a guy pushed past Vinny, Isabelle and Flora. I noted that it was Dylan, and by the look on his face, he was clearly anxious.

“Kay!” Dylan spoke and then ran over to her. With sudden movements he picked her up and started to spin with her in his arms. “You’re alive!” His joyous tone made all of us smile.

“Yes, I am alive, but if you don’t put me down, you won’t be,” Kay snapped.

Dylan released her and just kept smirking.

I nudged Troy soon after, indicating that I was ready to leave.

Troy nodded and pulled me with him as we exited.
