The General - S01 E62

War lies on his side. I move to lie beside him and give him space, but he wraps an arm around my waist and tucks me back into his side. He traces random figures on my hip— a gesture I've grown to love.

He looks at his chest and groans. "I fucked you while being filthy. I should have bathed first. Why can I not resist you?"

I chuckle. "I can't believe that you're worried about that. You've never cared about your looks. For Earth's sake, War. You're the richest man on the planet but wear old clothes."

He shrugs. "A polished sword will help a man win a war, not a pretty cape."

"What am I going to do with you?" I chuckle.

He takes my question literally and replies,"Kiss me, fuck me, carry my young, and enjoy life with me."

"War," I smile, but it thins out.

His name... I don't like it. It doesn't match who he is. His name was given to him by awful parents who wanted him to destroy everything so they could build on top of it.

"I don't like your name."

"You may call me whatever you wish," he replies. "A name does not make a man. A man makes a name."

"That's deep," I reply.

My sweet, overly grown teddy bear grins with straight teeth that brighten his eyes which have seen so much darkness in life. "Deep, just like your cunt," he teases.

I laugh until tears leak from my eyes. He rests his hand on my belly, seeming to enjoy the shaking within it. When I open my eyes, I find him staring at my middle.

"I can't wait until you're full and heavy with our love."

I'm stunned silent for a second, but then I smile and cup his hand.

"Raw," I say.

"What is this?"

"Your name. I want to call you Raw from now on. It's W-A-R, but backwards."

"I do not see how this is fitting, as I am not uncooked food, but I will allow it if it makes you happy."

"I want you to understand it," I return. "I want to call you Raw because that's what you are. You don't sugarcoat. You're just this overwhelming, straightforward, and more loyal than thirsty Entertainers."

"Why would they be thirsty? I provide plenty of food and water to my people."

I grin, because he's so precious. "Yes, Raw. You're completely right. I'm a silly Terra with ridiculous forms of speech."

He looks worried. "Do not feel bad, Joan. You are great at many other things."

I laugh again. "I love you."

All worry is wiped from his face and replaced with a greedy grin. "Say this again."

"Hey, that sounded like a command. You only get to hear those sparingly."

He sits up and takes me with him. Next thing I know, I'm laying over his lap with my bare ass facing the sky. His hand claps on my cheek, and I jolt with surprise.

"As your General, I demand that you deliver those words to me at once."

I snicker. "Seriously?"

He slaps my ass again, proving that he's as serious as he is well-hung.

"I love you."

He slaps my ass a third time.

"Hey! Why did you hit me? I said it!"

"Include my name," he commands.

I roll my eyes. "I love you, Raw, mighty General of the Zolan military."

He rubs my ass. "Hmm... this pleases me. One more time."

I roll off him and run off with a giggle. My breasts bounce, so I cup them to bind them down.

"Release those!" he yells as he playfully chases me. He can run twice my speed, but he's going easy on me.

My wet feet slip on the floor, and I go down in laughter. All joy in me dies when my elbow knocks onto the door, and sends it flying open. I land on my belly, my red ass cheeks jiggling in all their glory.

There's a horrified gasp. I look up and find a bystander that's a blink away from a seizure.

Then there's a roar that comes from my jealous, overbearing alien boyfriend.

"Run," I tell the man, who doesn't need to be told twice.

I scramble onto my knees and pull the doors shut just as he reaches me.

"Step aside!" the general commands, but I press my back against the door.

"He saw nothing. You don't need to execute him and his family line."

The big guy doesn't look pleased. "I demand his head now!"

"Hey..."

He keeps his eyes on the door.

"I love you."

His eyes jump back to me, and his anger softens. "Again."

"I love you."

"Again!"

One hour later, I'm yawning and mumbling over "I-love-yous," because he refuses to let me rest. I don't remember when he gives me mercy and lets me sleep, but I'm a very happy girl because I'm tucked into his unrelenting arms.

Today is the second day of our trip, which means it's time to return to Camp. After the shit-show with Raw's mother, the palace seems more uninviting than ever.

I change into a new, modest dress, and I rush Raw through the halls because I don't want to deal with any more judgemental, hateful, palace-dwellers.

When the sun hits my skin, I feel like I can finally breathe. I look over my shoulder and sigh. "Good riddance to this place."

Raw wraps an arm around my waist, his free one carrying our bags.

"You did well. Thank you for enduring with me."

"It didn't look like you were doing much enduring. You were the one stressing people out. Did you see the Queen when she walked into the dining room and saw you on her seat? The woman lost ten years off her lifetime."

"She has taken enough breaths and snobby scoffs in life. It would not be terrible if the bitch died."

I shake my head. My man is a piece of work.

"I want to take you to the markets. Would you like that?"

"Sure!"

We walk with our beast through the crowds. Although it's hot, I wear a cloak to be discreet about my appearance. It doesn't seem to do much, because Raw attracts plenty of attention.

I look around all the pretty things that are being sold in the market, clutching my coin purse with excitement. I'm attracted to a table full of hairpins, and I look at all the wonderful, colorful designs.

"Greetings. What will it be today?" the table owner asks.

I look up. He looks startled by my face, but then he picks up a smile. I'm not sure if it's because he's friendly, or because Raw is hovering over me, breathing down my neck and promising to break the spine of anyone that upsets me.

"Hello. How much is this one?" I raise a hairpin with a yellow flower on it.

"Twenty silver ones."

I dig through my coin purse to get the money.

"What are you doing?" Raw rumbles behind me. Nothing escapes the guy.

"Paying for the pin."

"Why do you seek to insult me?"

"What are you talking about?"

He reaches and takes my purse from me. "I can provide for my female."

"I know you can, but I want to spend my money this time."

He hesitates. "You do not have much, Joan. I can take care of this for you. Get the entire table of colorful hair sticks, if you wish."

"Don't be silly."

His hand descends on a hairpin with red branches. "Here. Take this as a gift for my proposition."

"What proposition?"

"That I will look after you as long as flesh exists on my bones. I will make it my purpose in life to make you smile, and in the days when sadness is inevitable, I will hold your weight so you don't have to. I will love you like our planet loves the sun. I have been thinking this for a while, but I think it is time to build the future with you."

I gasp. "But being a General is your life."

"No, you are. There are other Masters that wish to enlist on your program. They will stop consuming their drugs, find a female, and retire somewhere. I will lead them to a new life. We will find new land where we will build homes and tools, hunt, and patrol. No more war. Just growing and protecting what is ours."

"But— but—" my mind spins. This is so much to take in.

"What about the war? Don't they need you to win it?"

"The resistance is failing. The War will end soon. I have carried them through the worst parts. I will lead you and and a few men to a permanent settlement that I will lead. We will live there safe and content."

I ask the most important question. "Who will replace you as general?"

He doesn't miss a beat.

"Malik has a lot to learn, but he has been doing well in training. I will write him advice, but I will not be at camp to right his wrongs. What do you say, Joan? Will you join me in this new adventure?" He raises the hairpin, and this is one of the very few times when my great General looks vulnerable.

He's offering me his heart in the middle of a busy Marketplace, not giving a fuck about who is watching. This is so like him. My raw, unbothered, lover.

I take the hairpin. "Of course. I would chase you to the Earth and back."
