The Weeds

_____________

Together, intertwined between silk sheets, fucking, Serena and Connor were a force to be reckoned with.

They were a fire that burned bright and hot, the embers blazing a relentless red, ready to burn forever.

And boy did they burn.

Serena couldn't get enough, one round wasn't gonna cut it for her, and by the look in Connor's eyes it wasn't enough for him either.

His gaze enraptured her, the piercing darkness of them claimed every inch of her skin with goosebumps. And that one look was all it would take to send them into a heated frenzy of Lust.

Hours, and hours went bye.

They were breathless, but at the mercy of each other's desires.

They kissed through whispered quips.

Nails dragging across skin.

Hips colliding.

Moans filling the entire house with a thick heat.

The sun was just starting to break the horizon and leak it's red pigments into the blue sky by the time they were done.

Connor practically collapsed on his bed, his large arms wrapped under and around her loosely while he slept.

Serena however was awake, and that foggy haze she was lost in moments ago was clearing.

The warm embrace of him was tempting, scarily tempting, to lean into and get lost in its security. The heat of his body was teasing her, lulling Serena to sleep.

But she knew she'd regret it, she knew they both would. Sleeping was something entirely different than fucking.

They were two different stories that were written together, different versions that existed at the same time.

Two beautifully opposite fabrics threaded together with the same red thread.

Serena looked at him while he slept. His long eyes lashes fanned down on his tanned cheeks, and his nostril had a tiny scar on it, little details now clear to her when she was this close to his resting face.

She blushed gently and tilted her head, staring so intently, he looked like a different person to her entirely while he slept.

She placed her soft hand on his cheek and rubbed a fading scar on his cheek bone, no doubt from hockey.

Connor's breathing brought his chest up and down slowly and methodically. His lips were parted just a little bit, and his breath was fanning across her bare chest.

Even asleep, he made goosebumps erupt all over her skin.

Serena sighed and lifted her hand away, starting to very slowly wiggled out from his embrace.

She might've been crazy to be able to do all this with him, but she wasn't delusional. She knew she definitely wasn't welcomed to stay the night.

Serena slipped out of Connor's room effortlessly, just like the shadows that slipped away from the suns rays.

And went back to her place.

Despite the lack of rest, Serena's body couldn't sleep in past 11:30.

She hobbled into her bathroom and groaned at her appearance. Hair tussled and matted, sticking up in interesting places. Dark bags under her eyes holding all the weight of her sleepless night.

She ran dry hands over her face and sighed into her palms while remembering where she was supposed to be in 30 minutes.

Serena left her bathroom and walked over to her window, peering out of the parted curtains, Connor's house looked quiet, asleep.

She doubted he'd even wake up to bother with her that morning.

And if she was being honest even despite her exhaustion the idea of tending to that greenhouse burned through her like the golden sunlight breaking through the currents.

Her eyes filtered over to its glistening feeble structure, taking in all its faded glory.

A subtle pang echoed against the cage of her heart, and before she knew it, she was putting on some jeans and her beat up shoes.

Something about the glass greenhouse spoke to Serena, whispered to her, drew her in to its dirty glass and helplessness.

She saw herself in its reflection, a sad forgotten structure that was lost to neglect, now only with whispers of hidden beauty underneath its dirt caked glass.

Serena walked out her back door, wearing her jeans and a small t-shirt that had paint splotches all over its gray fabric. She carried a bucket full of gardening tools in one hand a pair of gloves in the other.

Walking up to the large fence around Connor's backyard, she squinted through one of the cracks in the dark mahogany wood, no sign of the tall muscular body that she could see.

With a shrug Serena figured he wasn't coming today.

She opened his fence and walked inside, taking the path through the pool deck out to the back. Once she made it to the wistful corner of the property where the Greenhouse sat, Serena dropped her tools and placed her hands on her hips.

Observing it for a few minutes, she knew she'd have to tackle the over growth and weeds first. Clean up the poor thing inside and out before anything like planting or refurbishing could happen.

She nodded to herself, shoved her earbuds in, and started by the steps.

On her hands and knees, Serena plucked weed after unruly weed, tossing them into her trash bucket while Taylor Swifts new album (a/n: I love it btw) sung through her ears.

Most people saw this as a chore, but the more she plucked and hummed, a content smile floated along her lips and easy-going thoughts strummed through her mind aimlessly. Truly, lost in the sweet chill of the air and mundane activity.

Allowing herself to reset and mend a little piece of this broken building.

Serena jerked a little when she felt a warm hand run along her back and a shadow eclipse the sun encasing her in a bubble of darkness.

She stilled and tugged an earbud from her air, sounds of the far off music filling the air when she looked up into Connors ruggedly handsome face.

immediately she wanted to curse at him for how good he looked after virtually no sleep. But instead, all she could do was stare at him from where she knelt on the dirt.

A blush and memories from last night warmed her body, making a shiver run down her back from where he had just touched.

"You have a habit of sticking those things in your ears and getting lost in what you're doing." He knelt down and finally Serena found some dignity to look away from his dark gaze. She caught a glimpse of his jeans and sweatshirt, clearly here to help work.

"Oh, yeah. Well I didn't think you were gonna show today to be honest." She turned back to the weeds and started mindlessly pulling, surprised by how the company didn't abhor her. In fact, the air felt a little warmer.

"Sorry I was late," He knelt besides her on the other side of the stairs, grabbing an extra pair of gloves she had from her bucket, "I was quite exhausted, recovering from a very exciting night shortcake."

Serena could feel his gaze on her body as she tugged at the unforgiving roots. She tried to ignore the swarm of butterflies that rose up her throat and heat that touched her cheeks, just focused her attention on pulling more weeds.

"Is that so." She replied and without looking tossed a pile of dirt covered roots towards the bucket, her heart beating fast, hands desperate to keep moving, she hadn't realized she threw some of the weeds at him.

"Hey!" Connor groaned and leaned back, looking down at the granules of dirt and stringy plants on him.

Serena stilled and looked over at him with wide eyes, "sorry I really didn't-"

Connor took a handful of weeds he pulled and threw them at her. She winced as the plants decorated her brown locks, opening them slowly but this time in a narrowed glare.

"Really?! Are you five, it was accident."

"Yeah right." Connor quipped back, a hint of a smirk on his lips.

She huffed and quickly grabbed a large handful of weeds from the bucket before turning back to him, anger ignited under her fingertips as she got ready to throw.

Connors hand connected with her wrist right as she went to toss them, stopping her and pulling her into his chest so he could practically whisper against her lips, their hearts beating fast against each others chest.

They gazed into each others eyes wildly, immediately Serena relaxed against him leaning into his warmth. Connors grip remained firm on her wrist while his other hand snaked around her waist, "Truce?"

"Truce." She mimicked as her body betrayed her yet again, tilting her lips up more, pouty and begging to be kissed.

Connor tilted his head slightly and chuckled, a dark groan sounding from his throat as he placed a gentle and soft peck on her mouth. They pressed their puzzle piece lips hard for a moment, Serena melting beneath his wet kiss. She dragged her hand up his stomach before firmly spreading her fingers out over his chest and pushing him away.

He laughed as he stumbled back on his butt, Serena flipped him off and returned to her spot.

"Can we please focus now. Help if you're gonna, I wanna get as much weeds picked as I can today." Serena said, a determined edge pushing her words.

Connor knelt on one knee as he looked at Serena with a soft smile, his eyes toyed with lust and something else, looking at her and only her. "Let's do it then."

Serena had to look away, surprised and flustered by the way one look made her heart flutter like humming bird wings.

They plucked away unwanted plants together for hours. Both settled in silence, letting the winds blow and the music play between them. Serena had removed her head phones and set her phone up on the steps wordlessly about thirty minutes in, ignoring Connors cheeky smirk at her as she did it, letting the unspoken speak between them.

They moved along the outside, then went inside, removing any junk left in there. They removed the weeds that grew through the cracked pavement and tore down the vines that captured its walls.

Finally, they called it quits for the day, both coated in sweat and dirt and completely out of breath.

Serena really didn't know how she managed to do that running on fumes.

But as they both stepped back and admired the building, pride lingered between them, it still had a long way to go, but it looked cleaner. The glass was more visible, the steps and pavement cleaned. Serena let a large breath swell in her chest akin to her big smile, the building glittered in the sun and seemed to whisper a soft thank you to them.

"Same time next week?" Connor spoke up next to her.

She nodded wordlessly while she took in the greenhouse, Connor looked at her as she did.

She turned to meet his gaze, her big smile still on her lips as flushed pride tinted her cheeks and lifted her features. She looked happy, she was happy.

Connors hard gaze softened as he met hers, and unnaturally quick, he turned around and walked into his house.
