"What did you say your fathers name was again?" I leant over and whispered to Christian.

"It's Bohuslav Dmytro-Ivanov." He whispered back.

"Why does his name sound like too many consonants and not enough vowels?"

Christian chuckled, and gave me a shrug. "I wish I could tell you. Everyone calls himself Slav for short."

Christians father looked up at the both of us, and we quickly pulled away from each other. "Can I fire this one?" He asked.

He had pointed to an IT employee, Cole, who was sitting a few desks away. Cole was our Data Processing specialist. When Slav spoke this words, Cole's eyes grew wide in horror. His eyes darted sporadically between Christian, Christian's father, and I. Everyone in the department looked on in panic when Christian glanced my way.

"Can we fire him?" Christian whispered to me. I quickly shook my head no.

"He uploads the files onto the server. He has nothing to do with security." I whispered back. Christian gave me one firm nod.

"It's a no go, Dad. He had nothing to do with the breach!" He called back to his father. Slav looked less than happy as he continued on with this interrogation.

The entire IT floor was absolutely petrified- you could see it on everyone's faces. Christian, in the few years I had been working here, has never entered this department of the building before. Hell, if it wasn't for his massive portrait on the wall, I'm sure half the guys in this room wouldn't have had an inkling as to what this man looked like. Not only was Christian fucking Ivanov in the IT department, but so was his father... who just so happened to be one of the founders of the company.

I was waiting to see who would piss their pants first.

"You want to catch a movie after this?" Christian whispered back to me. I looked at him like he had officially boarded the looney bin express.

"After this? Christian, I don't exactly know when this is going to end." I whispered back. He shook his head at me.

"It's a promise to ourselves that we'll do something enjoyable after this all blows over." Christian replied.

"You know what would be enjoyable? Some sleep. I mean some deep ass sleep, the kind of sleep that that has you waking up at one in the afternoon with your clothes and the bedroom light still on. I want that kind of sleep." I mumbled a little more to myself, than to him.

"I mean... that's something enjoyable we could do together." He sent me a wink, and I looked away from fear my face would get four shades redder.

"Stop saying things like that in front of your dad." I whispered back. "I'm trying to maintain composure here."

"Hey Christian! What about this one?" Slav pointed to another person. His name was Xavier.

Christian leant over to me, as if on cue, and asked in a hushed voice "Can we fire this one?"

"Christian. That is the unpaid intern you hired like 4 months ago." I replied.

Hearing the tone of judgement in my voice, Christian replied with "In my defense, I don't personally do any hiring. It's all HR, you know?"

"You personally gave him a tour of the company.... literally four months ago." I snapped back. Christian suddenly became interested with the loose strand of thread that was hanging from his shirt. "But anyways, we can't fire Xavier. He's interning to earn hours of experience for the job he wants at Silent Knight Security."

"Christian!" Slav called again. "Am I firing him, or what?"

Xavier looked like he was actually seconds away from peeing his pants. I gave Christian a nudge with my elbow to get his attention.

"That's also a no go, dad!" Christian replied. "He's an intern."

Slav had another disappointed look on his face, but he moved on.

"The Gala is coming up here next weekend. Are you excited?" Christian asked me. I gave him a small smile.

"It's actually going to be my first time going." I replied. Christian arched an eyebrow at me.

"And why's that?" He asked.

"I've just been a bit busy the other years." I lied. "I'm definitely excited though... but I haven't figured out what to wear yet." That last part had actually held some truth. I didn't have any full suits, which meant I was going to need to buy something.

"Don't worry about that. I'll take care of it." Christian replied. I almost immediately shook my head at him.

"No no no, I've got it figured out." I replied.

"Well at least allow me to accompany you to the store?" He pleaded with me.

Before I could say anything, Slav cut in again.

"Christian! What about this one?" He pointed to Daniel. Christian glanced at the man, then looked back at me.

"What about that one?" He whispered.

"That's Daniel. He's our security director." I replied. "He would be the one in charge of monitoring users or any unusual activity. He's a bit of a dick, but I mean... I don't think he deserved to get fire-" before I could complete that sentence, Christian butt in.

"Better him than you." He shot back to me, before he gave his father two thumbs up.

Slav's face lit up. His hand came down on Daniels shoulder so quickly, like the hammer in a game of whack a mole. I saw Daniel visibly wince from the force. "It is my sincerest apologies to inform you of this- err..."

Slav looked at Christian.

Christian looked at me.

I face palmed.

This was so unprofessional.

"Daniel." I reminded Christian.

"Daniel!" Christian called to his father. I was witnessing first hand where Christian got his terribleness with names from.

"Daniel, my boy. It's brings me great sadness to inform you of this, but we must be letting you go. Please pack up your things at once." Slav said to the poor unfortunate soul. I leant over at Christian again.

"Usually we have until the end of the day to go because the rest of data processing is going to need to strip Daniel of all his rights before he can leave the building." I whispered to him. Christian gave me a nod before turning to his father.

"They've gotta do some tech stuff before the guy can go, dad! Let's give him till the end of the day." He called out.

Daniels face was alternating between fifty different emotions right about now, as he listened to Christian and Slav speak. At one moment, I thought he was going to cry. At the next, I thought he was going for Slav's jugular. At last, all he did was stand up and start to file his work. Daniel may have swung hands with myself if I had tried to fire him, but this was coming from someone far above myself.

Before Christians and I could exchange anymore side conversation from where we were sitting, Slav approached us.

"I'll be taking my leave now." Slav spoke. "I think I got everything I needed here."

"Where are you heading?" Christian asked.

"I'm going to go home. Make a few calls. Have my guys back in Ukraine do a little assisting. I'll also see if I'm able to extend this stay a little longer because I would like to attend the Gala with your mother this year." Slav replied.

Christians lips twitched up into a tight smile. "Of course father, we'll be seeing you." He gave his dad a nod before he exited the room. As soon as Slav left, Christian didn't miss a beat when he turned to me. "You want to get the hell out of here?" He asked.

I couldn't help the smile from forming on my own lips. "Yeah, I'd like that."
