All It Took Was One Look - S01 E35

Read Story: SEASON 1 EPISODE 35

Liam

The hot water was cascading down my hair and back, running into my face as I stared blankly at the white tile of the hospital bathroom. I was just going to take a quick shower and go right back to Aiden but once I got in I couldn't move. I felt sluggish and sore. I knew it was from being cooped up in the white room with the nauseating smell of bleach and the smell of sick patients. I hadn't went out for a run in a month. But none of that was going to bother me not with Aiden still stuck in his coma. When was he going to wake up?

I've asked the doctors a million times and they all gave me the same answer.

"All we can do is wait and see."

What if he never woke up? My wolf didn't like my negativity and reprimanded me for doing so but what else was I supposed to think when I saw Aiden lying there every day, in the same damn position I found him in a month ago. A rapid increase of rage and despair built in my body and I slammed my fist in the tile causing a large crack to sliver up the wall.

"DAMNIT!"

I pulled my fist from the hole, my blood seeping through the cuts in my hand before they closed. I turned the shower off and quickly dried myself, throwing on my pants and clean t-shirt. I looked up in the mirror and saw the shell of my former self. There was no me anymore without Aiden. The bags under my eyes were dark and my eyes were dull and desolate. My skin was pale but not as pale in comparison to Aiden's.

Walking out of the bathroom my eyes were directly to Aiden. Still beautiful as ever even hooked with all the wire and tubes.

"Hey baby." I said taking a seat on the bed. My hand found his arm and caressed it up and down. I could feel the sparks shooting through my fingers; he had to be feeling it too. I noticed the feel of his bones as I ran my hand up his arm. My eyes fell on him and over looked his body. I gritted my teeth at the sight. I know he could only take substance through a feeding tube but he had lost so much weight it was starting to scare me. His cheeks were starting to sink in and his pale skin was making him look really sick.

"Do you feel me Aiden?" I whispered to him

"I miss you, we all do." My voice began to quiver.

"My life is dull without you here to brighten it, I need you Aiden. Do you hear me, I need you. So please, please wake up come back to me." The familiar tears were streaming down my face but I paid no mind to them. I bent down to him my face inches from his.

"Please" I cupped his cheek, leaning my forehead against his.

"How is he?" Dom came in cautiously, keeping an eye on me. I narrowed my eyes on him.

"What do you think? Does he look awake to you?" I snapped. He rose his hands up in surrender.

"Whoa, ok I'm sorry." He apologize walking further in the room, taking a seat by the bed. I was ready to growl at him to leave but then I got a good look at his face.

"What's wrong?" I asked. He shook his head looking at Aiden refusing to meet my gaze. But I knew they were filled with pain.

"What's wrong, Dom?" I pushed.

"It's nothing." His voice was low and scratchy.

"Tell me." I demanded, my concern getting the better of me. He was silent for a long time before looking up at me with tears in his eyes.

"I told her." He said his voice tight with oncoming tears. "I know this wasn't the right time, I should have waited, waited for Aiden to get better but I don't know when that will be." I growled a warning at him. He lowered his head.

"I'm sorry but it's the truth." I didn't say anything as the tightening in my chest weighed me down with more grief.

"She rejected me Liam." He cried putting his head in hands. "I don't know what to do man, I feel like my hearts been ripped out and stomped on, ugh, I'm so stupid!" He exclaimed ripping himself from the chair as it fell to the floor. He began pacing, his hands fisted at his sides.

"Why couldn't I have waited?" He was talking to himself now, "I knew it wasn't the right time to spring something like this on my 'human' mate. Now she won't pick up my phone calls, yells at me to leave her alone when we're at school. She even screamed when I showed her my wolf! It's killing me Liam." Dom turned back to me his eye red as tears fell from his eyes.

"It's killing us." He added referring to his wolf. Closing my eyes, I rubbed my forehead in exhaustion before looking back at Dom.

"I'm the last person to come to for this Dom, my mate is lying in a hospital bed, and he might never wake up. It's killing me also, to know that I might never be able to talk to him without it being one sided. Never see his beautiful eyes again staring at me with emotions I could only hope was love the last I saw them." I sounded drained and depressed.

I let out a shaky breath and I looked him in the eyes,

"Give her time, she's having trouble coping with her best friend being in the hospital. I know this won't be easy, nothing is easy these days but if need be I can talk to her if you want; not now but later." I said. Dom gave me a small smile.

"Thank you Liam, I would greatly appreciate that." I nodded.

"I know this is a stupid question but how are you doing?" He asked softly. I gave out a humorless laugh,

"What's it look like." He picked up the chair he knocked over and sat back down.

"The teachers gave me the homework assignments for you since you've been absent." He told me. I scoffed.

"I don't care." I heard him sigh.

"Liam I think its best if you get out, take a run, being cooped in here just torturing yourself isn't good for you." He said. I glared at him and he shrank from the intensity of it.

"I'm not leaving him, Ever. Again." I growled. "I left him once and this is what happened." I looked down at Aiden and noticed his lips were becoming chapped.

"You are not to blame for this Liam, it was an accident. And accidents happen every day. Even if you were here, you can't be around Aiden twenty four seven." I shook my head, tightening my lips to stop the shaking.

"I don't believe that." He sighed again turning his head from me.

"I understand that you're hurting-" I cut him off.

"No you don't understand Dom! You don't know the pain I'm going through right now, you might have been rejected but at least you know your mates healthy and well. I can't leave, my wolf won't let me leave and I don't want to leave. I have a hole in my heart whenever I look at his beautiful face so still. He is my soul, life, the reason I'm on this earth is for him. I never had enough time with him and the doctors keep telling me we'll just have to wait and see if he wakes up. He's been like for a month Dom and I am worried sick that he won't come back to me." I began to sob softly. "I just want him to come back, I would give anything for that."

"I'm truly sorry this happened to you Liam." His voice full of sorrow. I never took my eyes from Aiden.

"Can you just leave please." Not even taking the time to wipe my tears, knowing they would just come back fast and hard once he left. He stood and placed a card by Aiden's bedside table next to the flowers and other cards. I heard the door close softly behind him listening for his footsteps to disappear before I broke down onto Aiden's chest.

That scent was back as I lay beside Aiden. I shot up from the bed and ran to the door throwing it open just in time to see someone running down the hall this time.

'He's not getting away!' I thought as I rushed after him. My wolf was whining for me to go back to Aiden but I felt like I had to find the source of this scent. They didn't get far just a few feet away before I tackled them to the floor. I hear them grunt from underneath me and I straddled their waist, turning them over to see the face of the mysterious smell. The shock hit me hard.

This was Aiden's cousin; I remember seeing him a few times around Aiden's house. He always gave me a creepy vibe. No wonder why the fragrance was familiar, so he was the one spying on me and Aiden in the locker rooms. Now he was creeping around my mate's hospital room. My wolf's protective side spiked sensing a sudden threat and I became suspicious.

"What the hell are you doing here?" I growled at him. I didn't care if it sounded too animalistic, I was getting weird vibes from my wolf telling me to keep an eye on him. His face was etched in fear and something else...guilt.

"I-I-I" he stuttered unable to meet me in the eye. I glared down at him before getting to my feet and fisting the neck of his shirt and hauling him up with one hand.

"Answer me!" I yelled causing him to flinch.

"I just wanted to see him." He mumbled.

"You've had so many other opportunity's to come see him with the Carlisle's, where were you then?" I snarled. His eyes were shifty and never settling on anything for too long. Something was wrong.

"I just wanted to have a private word with him but you never leave." He whined. He wanted to be alone with my mate? I suppressed the growl building in my chest.

"Now why would I do that?" I snapped at him, my hand tightening on his collar.

"I-I just-" he never finished as tears began to stream down his face. My eyes narrowed at him in distrust.

"What's wrong with you?" I said none too politely. He shook his head,

"I-I'm sorry." He cried. My heart stopped for a moment.

"For what?" I demanded.

"I'm sorry." He sobbed again, and the rage was building in my veins as the guilty look became more dominate in his eyes.

"What did you do?!" He just shook his head again, then it clicked.

"You did this?" I whispered mostly to myself. He grabbed my shirt in his hands before giving me a desperate agonizing wide eyed expression.

"I didn't mean it, it was an accident!" He exclaimed, trying to make me see his regret but all his words after the first four disappeared. It wasn't an accident, Aiden didn't fall on his own, this bastard was who caused it! The rage that built in me reached its limit and I threw Brent into the wall.

"You son of a bitch!!" I screamed at him, hysteria in my every word. My wolf became crazed inside me. We wanted blood.

"I'm sorry, it was an accident!" He yelled at me tears falling down his face.

"You did this to him!" I grabbed him by the neck. "You hurt my mate!" I knew my eyes were a glowing bright yellow, I took satisfaction in hearing his choking sounds and he gasped for air clawing weakly at my hand. I was shaking as I slammed him in the wall again.

"I'm going to fucking kill you!" I snarled as I reached for him again but I was pulled back with a strength no one but a wolf would have.

"Liam!!" My fathers voice called at me but I was far too gone to care. I struggled hard as he grabbed my arms behind me. I threw my head back hitting him in the face forcing him to loosen his grip and that was all I needed. I lunged for the piece of shit staggering to his feet, my fist made contact with his face and I heard a gratifying crunch. I went to do it again when I was tackled off him and pinned to the cold hard floor. Another set of hands were holding me down.

My roars and growls were becoming deadly, the windows in the doors shattered as I struggled to get them off. My wolf was in control and we both wanted the bastard dead!

"Take the damn kid out of here!" My dad yelled.

"No!" I screamed kicking and thrashing as they took him away.

"Liam, get a hold of your wolf!" My dad ordered but it was on deaf ears. His commands didn't work on me anymore.

"Get the hell off me!" I shouted in his face. His eyes were yellow as he let his wolf out.

"Liam calm down!"

"How can I when he did this to him!" He frowned at my words and I struggled some more but the grip on my shoulders and legs became harsher and painful.

"Alpha he's not going to calm down, he's attracting too much attention." His Beta said. Dad closed his eyes before looking at me with sorrow.

"I'm sorry." He said softly, I never had the chance to find why when a fist came flying at my face fast and then darkness.
