Boy Talk

Evan's POV

"I, for one, don't like Jasmine. In my dictionary, she's definitely the definition of a gold digger. The DNA test is the best idea yet. You can't trust that girl, Evan," Zack said as he drank his diet Coke.

"How is she a gold digger?" EJ asked.

I had just gotten back from a meeting at another branch and decided to meet up with the guys for lunch.

I had just told them what transpired between Aria and Jasmine. They already knew about everything else: Jasmine quitting, the breakup, Bradley, Jasmine's pregnancy. I regretted telling those two clowns anything because, now, they were going back and forth like Jasmine and Aria.

"I like Jasmine. I know she screwed up but nobody's perfect. We all make mistakes and learn from them," EJ added.

"Mistakes? Her leaving your brother for Pittsburg wasn't a mistake. It was a choice. And the only reason she made that choice was because those were her true intentions all along. Quitting and starting over with the millionaire. She's only back with Evan now because she discovered Bradley was playing her all along."

"Man, don't pass any judgement on Jasmine like that. You don't even know her," EJ defended.

"But I know her TYPE. She must've banged with Bradley dozens of times, got pregnant, and now she wants Evan to be the father because Bradley already has a damn family. Think about it. Jasmine is a liar and cannot be trusted. I'm all for Aria.

"Aria is beautiful, smart and self-made. She has her own money, but, yet, here she is, sticking with Evan through all the drama Jasmine is causing because Aria loves him. Evan, do the DNA test," Zack said again.

I stayed silent, listening to the two of them bickering back and forth.

"Well, if Aria is so righteous and perfect, then why isn't she out there making new songs?" EJ questioned.

"Well, why can't she take a break? She already has twenty hits! She's here to stand in Evan's corner, and he should be grateful that someone is doing that."

"Zack, stop talking as if my brother came from The Nobody Tree and hit every branch on the way down. He's Evan Hollen. Of course Aria is going to stick around because she has bigger fish to fry than Jasmine."

I raked my fingers through my hair and kept myself from yelling at them.

"Aria isn't a gold digger."

"Neither is Jasmine. She doesn't even want anything from Evan."

"Oh, she's just acting like that so everyone will think she's such a saint."

"Dude, shut the fuck up."

"You shut up, EJ."

"Both of you better shut up before I come across the table on you. The two of you are giving me a headache." I just couldn't take it anymore. I had enough of that at home with the two women and I didn't need this crap between my boys.

"Sorry, man."

"Sorry bro."

"Thank you. Now, can we please change the subject?" I asked.

"I saw Jessica. She's dating that football quarterback for the Jets now," Zack said.

"I'm thrilled. Finally, she moved on."

"Yes. It's only Jasmine who can't seem to move on."

"Dude!" EJ scolded. "She's five months pregnant!"

"With a child that Evan may have not fathered."

Here we go again!

"Zack! Please, just shut the hell up," I shot out at him. He was sounding exactly like Aria.

"Haha," EJ teased.

"You too, EJ!" I snapped at him. "The two of you are going back and forth like Aria and Jasmine, and I don't need this right now!"

"Sorry," they said together.

The conversation shifted to business and what hot spots we should visit for an upcoming vacation.

My phone vibrated in my pocket.

"Evan Hollen," I answered.

"Evan, it's me. I need a tub of chocolate ice cream, but I'm all out. Can you pick one up on the way home?"

Jasmine was craving awfully for a lot of chocolate ice cream.

Won't that baby have brain freeze?

"Jasmine, no. Remember what the doctor told you about an unhealthy diet? The baby is eating what you're eating and you're having way too much ice cream."

"Evan. pleaseeee!" she begged.

"Jasmine."

"Your mom said that was her craving when she was pregnant with you and Emily, and she never deprived it from you. So can you please do this for the baby?"

Mom was on Jasmine's side. They had been spending so much time together and they got along just fine. She never liked any of my girlfriends, except for Jasmine.

"Fine, I'll get you some tubs on my way home," I answered before hanging up.

"She wants ice cream?" Zack asked with a silly smirk playing on his lips.

"So what if she wants ice-cream? Oh my goodness, who's that?" EJ asked and turned his attention towards a young woman walking up the street.

I recognized her almost instantly.

"Hey! Zen!" I called and waved her over.

She seemed surprised at first, but she came over to our table without hesitation.

"How are you?" I asked her.

"Oh, I'm fine. I was just on my way to see Jasmine, actually. School has me busy, but it's Saturday, and I'm free today."

"Okay."

"Hi, I'm EJ." He introduced himself before I had the chance.

"I'm Zenia."A

sly smile came on both their faces as they shook hands across the table.

"And that's Zack," I introduced.

"Zack, this is Zenia. Jasmine's sister." I gave him a look that read: "You better not say anymore shit."

"Oh, so you're the other one," Zack said, and I heard the sarcasm in his statement.

"What's that supposed to mean?" Zenia almost snapped. " 'The other one.' "

"The other sister," he quickly covered.

"Yes," Zenia said and looked at him awkwardly.

"We were just talking about Jasmine. Do you like your sister?" Zack asked her.

"No. I love her," she answered and stood up.

"It was nice meeting you, EJ," she said and left our table.

"Zack. What the hell?" I snapped at him as Zenia left.

"What? I was only making conversation."

The remainder of the afternoon I spent in my office going through documents I had to sign and proposals that needed my personal attention. My new personal assistant wasn't as efficient as Jasmine, but he was learning the ropes.

My phone buzzed in my pocket again.

"Evan Hollen."

"Baby, it's me. Are you in your office? We need to talk," Aria said.

"Is something wrong?" I asked, worry coming into play.

"I'm on my way over. We'll talk face-to-face."

I knew it had to be something serious since she didn't want to tell me over the phone.

After an hour, she arrived and sat down in my office.

"What's up?" I asked as I replied back to an email from my father and sipped on a cup of coffee.

"Evan, I think I might be pregnant."

My coffee fell and spilled all over my crotch.
