But now, I found myself helping her, drawn back into her enigmatic world.

Why? The question echoed in my mind, refusing to be silenced. Amelia was my only family left. My father and brother had been involved in dangerous, illegal business dealings that would likely have led to their demise sooner or later. What if Amelia had been forced into her actions by my family's rivals? What if there was more to the story than met the eye?

As I entered the meeting room, the atmosphere was palpably different. Gone were the tense glances and veiled threats. Amelia and I sat across from each other, discussing the details of the deal between our companies with a surprising sense of normalcy. It was as though, for a brief moment, we were just two professionals seeking common ground.
