As I stand in the hotel room, watching the hail storm outside, I am in awe of the raw power of nature. The hailstones are pelting down with such force that they sound like bullets hitting the window. I can see the trees bending and swaying under the weight of the hail, and the sky is dark and ominous. It’s as if the entire world has been plunged into chaos.

I can see people running for cover, their clothes drenched and their faces twisted in fear. Cars are skidding across the road, unable to grip the icy surface. But from the safety of my hotel room, I feel a sense of detachment. It’s as if I’m watching a movie, rather than experiencing a real-life disaster.

As the storm rages on, I start to feel a sense of guilt for being safe while others are in danger. I wonder if Lia is warm in the hospital, she hates the sound of thunder while Jax is terrified of it.

Lia’s mother did call me to inform me that she is going to take Jax with her and i am sure Tyler and his family won’t allow it but i hope they succeed.

“Come sit with me,” Rome calls out, breaking me out of my thoughts. He’s filled two disposable cups with mochaccino, and I gratefully accept one. I rub my hands together, trying to thaw out from the cold. It’s freezing.

I sit opposite him and place the cup between my palms evening out my breathing. The hotel we are staying is nothing over the top. It has small rooms with double beds, two seats with a table and an electric kettle that Rome used to boil the water.

As I take my first sip, the warmth spreads throughout my body, offering some solace from the storm outside. The mochaccino tastes plain - just coffee and chocolate - but I appreciate it nonetheless.

“I have filled a case against the hotel and spoke with the detective to ensure that Tyler doesn’t go into hiding.” Rome says and i nod taking a gulp of my drink. He pushes a pretzel towards me. I pull it closer even though i have no intention of eating it.

“I can’t comprehend why Lia came here with him.” I speak my mind.

“Sometimes it is hard to let go of the people we once loved.” He says staring at me like i he was implying something else.

I look over at the bed, “I should go to sleep, i want to be there when Lia’s parent’s arrive.” I inform him.

ROME’S POV

I watch her walk to her bed and i feel a sense of disappointment. I don’t know what i was expecting. I shouldn't be expecting anything. She is already having a tough day but a selfish dark part still feel like there is more to expect.

She sighs and turns to me, “Can you turn away i change and get in bed?” She asks.

At first i think she is joking then her glare is enough to tell me she is serious. I have already seen her naked why is it a problem now? Somehow i am unsettled with her request. And here i was afraid she would the one to get attached.

“I loved what i saw before, i will be pleased to see it again,” I tease her.

“May i remind you that you are the one that insisted on both of us sharing a room.” She retorts me. With what happened to Lia, i know i can’t be at ease knowing she is all alone.

I obey and look away.

“I am all good now.” She states after a while.

When i turn she neatly tucked in her bed. I feign a yawn and walk towards my bed. “I am exhausted too,” I lie. With her in bed i am left with nothing to do or anyone to talk to.

I intentionally undress before her, she catches on and ensures that she is not intimidated.

“Double standards. you were looking.” I say as i climb to my bed.

“You didn’t ask me to look away, i did.” She counters.

There is prolonged silence and decided to break it, “Can i ask something?” I speak.

“Only if i can ask too.” She says.

“Fine,” without thinking i agree.

“Why are you too silent during sex?” I ask. I know i have brought it up previously but for my sanity and ego. I must know.

She is silent and i don’t know if i have irk her.

“Is you ego bruised?” She asks.

“No, i am confident in my abilities.” I say.

She scoffs.

“What holds you back or what are you scared of?” I ask her.

She scoffs again, “Can you stop bothering me.” she gets defensive.

“It is a natural thing.” I keep on insisting.

“Get over yourself, i am sure other women have screamed with you why are bothered if i do or don’t.” Her voice starts to go high.

“Woman. I have just been with one woman.” I correct her.

I see her sit and pull the sheets to her chest before i can see her breast.

“You expect me to believe you have been with just one woman?” She is genuinely surprised.

I nod.

“Wow!” she is shocked.

“What about Becky?” She spells out cautiously. The name freezes me in time momentarily and i am surprised why she even know that. I have no words to utter.

“I shouldn’t have asked, i am sorry.” she apologizes.

“Someday when i am able to, i will explain.” I say hoping she won’t ask more.

The mood becomes sour and my brain shuts off with nothing to talk about.

“I am just naturally silent, i made a noise once when i broke my virginity and it was just because of pain.” She says softly.

“Or maybe you are a little guarded.” I reply.

“Why are you so adamant with this topic?” she asks.

“Because...” I can’t find the words and if can i now they will come out in a sad way. The incident at the police station with Mason still bugs me.

“You are good at what you do.” She says but it offers no relief, it is like being called nice.

“Okay. i will let it go if you allow me try one more thing with you.” I say and she peers at me curious.

“Okay.” She finally says.

“I will make you scream.” I proclaim.

“If not, i will make you scream and not in a good way.” She threatens and i hide my smile.
