I pretend to be taking breakfast as Cassandra leaves her house. I immediately rush outside when i hear the engine of her car come to life.

I call Lucas to confirm if he is outside the Thorne’s resident and immediately get out before i loose sight of Cassandra.

“Follow them.” I order him.

“I thought this was going to be one of those calls, so I came prepared.” I roll my eyes as he points to his sex kinks. I know that is the only relationship we have, and neither of us wants anything more from it. Unfortunately, he is the only person I could call because he would not ask unnecessary questions.

“I lied.” I state. “Eyes on that car!” I shout at him when i notice his attention is on me.

“Who are we following and why are you living in that big house?” He spares me a quick look.

“Don’t ask questions Lucas.” I remind him what he always says to me.

“Are we going to fuck after?” He shifts to another topic.

“Maybe.” I say hoping that will shut him and motivate him to drive faster but maintain a safe distance with Cassandra’s car. I overheard her on her phone, speaking quietly and angrily to the caller, assuring the caller that she would meet him at around this time. I haven’t seen Mr. Thorne in the last two days since he had to make an impromptu trip, and Cassandra assured me that i don’t need to go to work today.

For the days I’ve been living here, she leaves at this exact time, claiming to go see her gynecologist and returning late in the evening, and I assume she, too, has a business that she attends to after. That is why she arrives late at night.

Lucas follows her as she drives deep into the city’s other side, where low-income residents like myself live. She parks in front of a run-down restaurant with an unappealing exterior. She steps out of her car wearing a scarf and a hat to conceal her identity. I’m not sure what she’s hiding, but as Karma, I can deduce that there’s more she didn’t tell me, and I’m curious why she forced me to work with her.

I wait for a while and wear my hood, pulling it over my head and step out. I just have to see who she is meeting. Lucas follows my lead.

“Why are we here? At the very least, I should know if I’m going to be an accessory to whatever crime you’re about to commit.” Lucas insist.

“Since when do we ask questions?” I turn to him.

He shakes his head in disbelief, “You were always sneaky in high school and got in trouble a lot. i am justified to ask.”

I cast him a quick smirk, “Fine, i will tell you but after.” I say as i walk past the restaurant, and i spot her seated with company. It is the same suspicious scrawny guy she was arguing with at Achilles Club. They seem to be in a heated argument again. I must uncover who that man is.

The door is pushed open and i panic like a deer in headlights.

“What are you doing here?” Mr. Thorne asks as he fights to avert his gaze from my body. After following Cassandra around i did decide to come back and take advantage of the luxuries this huge estate offers. The pool was my favorite.

“You should join me,” I say as i jump inside the pool again.

“What are you doing here and not at work?” He questions.

“It is six and past my working hours.” I say and align my body with the surface, and float on the water on my back. The act renders him speechless and this time his eyes stay on my boobs.

Cassandra emerges from behind him, startling him.

“You are home?” It is more of a surprise than a question.

“What is she doing here?” He asks her.

She smiles at him warmly placing her hand on his shoulder, “She will only be staying here for a short time.” She murmurs and i see Mr. Thorne clench his jaw, he casts me a quick look thinking twice of what he is about to say to his wife. Instead, he grabs her arm and leads her back inside the house.

It doesn’t take long before i can hear their fading voices arguing.

“I advised you to be cautious, and you chose to live in the den itself.” Luna walks over to me, a large towel wrapped around her body.

“I haven’t seen you today,” I speak my thoughts. She deliberately avoids her mother and i can see her unease whenever they are together.

She sits on the chair, her gaze fixed on the water.

“You can join me.” I offer.

She shakes her head, “I am good.” She lies despite her obvious desire to do so.

Cassandra returns to inform us that dinner is being served. “Remember you’re grounded, and get some clothes on.” She scowls at her daughter as she walks by.

“Don’t have one of those.” She says once we were alone.

“And yet you having another one.” I commented.

“What other one?” She asks, confused, and i have to rake my mind if i am mistaken because she did tell me she was pregnant.

“You are pregnant?” As I ask, I am perplexed.

“These hormone!” she laughs nervously. “Yes, I am, and don’t remind me,” she says feigning fatigue.

I give a fake smile, “Is your husband okay with me here?” I ask.

“As long as you keep on wearing those costumes, he will be.” She cracks a joke.

“What?”

“I saw how he was staring at you. I think i know how we are going to break him.” She says.

“How?” I ask curious and also finding the entire conversation ridiculous. A wife advising the other woman how to successfully seduce her husband.

“Come with me.” She says mischievously.

“Is there a rule about sleeping with him?” I ask before i forget again.

She stops and stares at me, “Why, have you slept with him?”

The way she looks at me sends a shiver down my spine.“No!” i lie.

“Don’t, unless you want to be an enemy.” She says with a deadly glare as we walk inside the house.
