I walk aimlessly through the school corridors trying to pass time while Soph kept making fun of me for literally almost dying. "If your dad finds out about the number of times you have almost died, he would never let that red-head of yours set foot on that thing again," she says wiping tears from her eyes. "The real question is how are you still alive?"

"Pure luck — I honestly don't know myself."

The corridors are empty at this point, it's class time and no, we are not skipping, a girl won't study but a girl won't skip.

Apparently, our civics teacher just had a baby and no one wanted to take this period, and honestly, I don't mind it one bit even though I know it will bite us on the butt in the future.

"Do you want to grab something to eat? I'm thinking chicken nuggets," Soph asks while picking on her nails. "I'm tired of being at school already."

"You just read my mind," I say swinging my arm around her shoulders, we look like two drunk middle-aged men.

"Isn't that the hot new teacher everyone is talking about?" Soph points out as we cross one of the corridors, a dark-haired woman is walking up in our direction. Indeed it's her. "Damn, you have her right? I suddenly want to have Calculus."

"Act cool," I say letting go of Soph.

"Why?" Soph asks eyeing Miss Evans as she is getting closer.

"Are you girls skipping?" She asks, more like she demands to know, in a stern voice.

"Our teacher just had a baby," Soph says. "We're just walking up to the library... to uhh study, of course."

Miss Evans squints her eyes. "On your first day of school? How dedicated." She says raising one eyebrow glancing over at me. "I'm new here but I'm pretty sure the library is in the opposite direction too."

Ugh, Soph.

"Ah — we are passing by our locker first," I say, trying to save us from this embarrassment.

"Of course," she says obviously not buying into it but I'm guessing she also doesn't care enough. "I'll see you in detention, Miss Krause. Please make sure to be on time," she says with a hint of sarcasm as she walks away.

"Damn Anna, she takes no BS. And detention?" Soph whispers as we watch the teacher walk down the corridor in awe. "But she's so hot, you are so lucky."

"Uhm — she's super mean to me, so no. She even got me one week of detention for using my phone, who does that?" I groan rolling my eyes. "And guess what?"

"What? Are you going to tell me she was also the one that ran over you or what?"

"Would you believe it?"

She opens her mouth but quickly closes it, then opens again only to close it once more.

"You look like a fish."

"And you're fucked."

I hate PE; I hate sweating; I hate that it is still so hot out and that our teacher is a dick. Mr Olson had at least the weight of a whale plus he must be a century year old. No offence to whales, old people and chubby people, I just really hate him.

He told the class to run around the track twice and then we would be dismissed, of course, it was easier said than done when all he did was watch us suffer from afar under the shade. Well, everyone had finished it already and guess what, Soph and I were still at it, we were not that slow we just joked around a lot, well, we were slow too.
