Oh my God it’s him!” Ginika covered her mouth.

“Are you sure?” The doctor quizzed.

She nodded in affirmation.

“He did not have any serious injury in the accident but according to our diagnosis test, he is suffering from a cardiovascular disease and it has gotten serious” he explained.

Ginika got confused.

“What is that doctor?” She asked.

“Cardiovascular disease is a heart disease, he has been nursing it for a while but I am afraid it might not last forever” he explained.

She placed her hand on her head and walked away from the sight of him.

“Oh my God!”

She brought out her phone and dialed Aina’s number.

“Babe, how are you, I heard you fell sick, how are…” she said but Ginika interrupted.

” I found him, I found Ephraim, he is alive in the hospital, you need to come over to see him” she explained.

“Oh thank God, why should I come over, to pay the bills or what? He should contact his people now, Ginika, why are you all over this guy, I am happy he is alive but I don’t have any money to clear his bills, I can’t come please.” she exclaimed.

” I am not saying you should clear his bills, I’m only saying you should at least pay him a visit, and another thing is, the doctor said he has a heart disease” she explained.

” See, babe, I don’t want wahala o, one thing to the other, let them call his people o, I am telling you my own, bye bye ” Aina said and dropped the call.

Ginika went back to meet the doctor, “was there anything on him when he was brought in?” She asked.

The doctor brooded.

“Erhmmm…I think they found a wallet in his pocket, let me ask from the nurse in charge” he and left.

Ginka paced the corridor while her eyes weren’t off Ephraim’s body. Few minutes later, the doctor showed up with a purse and handed it over to Ginika. She searched the whole purse and found nothing but a business card with his name on it and the company’s number.

She dialed it and a lady picked it up. She explained everything that happened to Ephraim to the lady. The lady screamed over the phone.

“He is my boss, I am his secretary, I will contact his mother now and get back to you” she said.

Few minutes later, Ginika’s phone rang and it was a strange number. She picked and heard an elderly woman crying over the phone.

It was Ephraim’s mother.

Few hours later, his family arrived. They seem to be wealthy.

His mother and brothers felt disturbed as they saw their own lying on the bed fighting for his life.

” Thank you doctor for the care, please what is really going on, will he make it? The mother asked curiously.

” I can’t really say ma, we are doing our best to make sure he is fine” he explained.

Ginika and Effiong stood in one corner as his family and the doctor discuss..

Ginika was introduced to Ephraim’s mother by the doctor and also explained to her how Ginka had put so much effort in looking for him and also checking up on him.

“Oh, you were the one I spoke with over the phone, thank you my daughter, I won’t forget this favour” she said and reached for her bag, she brought out a load of cash and handed it over to her. She rejected it politely.

It moved her heart, she brought out her business card and handed it over to her.

“Please reach out always and I will tell him about your efforts too” she said.

Ginika collected the card and left.

She felt relieved and fulfilled, this erased part of the guilt that has been hunting her for years.

” We should go home now Effiong, his family is here now, my work is done” she said.

“Yes we should but I have somewhere to take you to so that you can cool off from all the stress on you” said Effiong.

She looked at him confusingly.

“Where Effiong?” She quizzed.

“Will you follow me or you want to ask questions?” He said. She smiled and followed him. They boarded a bike and headed to where she didn’t know.

It was a big building with a big entrance gate. She saw people going in and out.

“What is this place?” She asked.

“Let’s go and find out” he said and led the way.

They went in, it was a beautiful garden with an excellent landscape full of varieties of flowers. Beautiful butterflies flying around and sunbirds tweeting around the flowers. It earned her a bright smile.

“Oh my God! Effiong, this is beautiful” she said as she moved around in calculated steps.

“I have something more unique to show you but I have to blindfold you” he said.

She laughed and looked at him quizzically.

“Effiong, what is it?” She asked.

“Let’s find out” he replied and placed a blindfold on her face. He held her and guided her steps, they stopped and he removed the blindfold.

It was an array of sunflowers.

Beautifully planted with its yellow nectar illuminating amidst its green leaves. Ginika jumped up and landed on Effiongs arms as she screamed. It was an affectionate hug.

“Oh my God, I have not seen this in years, this is so beautiful” she exclaimed and ran around the flower touching them passionately.

“Effiong! How did you know they are my favourite, how?” She asked.

He smiled.

“I may have bad intonation but I have good instinct” he replied.

His response moved Ginika to tears, she walked towards him and hugged him again, it was tighter and longer this time.

“This is so thoughtful of you, thanks for everything, thanks for taking good care of me, thanks for looking out for me, thanks for making me happy. This beautiful view (pointing at the flowers) gives me joy, it unleashes a happy memory, it reminds me of my mum, you don’t know how important this is to me Effiong, I can’t thank you enough” she said amidst tears while holding him tight.

Effiong was short of words, he smiled.

She continued.

“Let me tell you something dear to my heart today, when I am dead, I want to come back as one of these. ( touching the flower) I want it planted on my grave, I want to come back as a sunflower. I am telling you this as a special friend you are to me” she said.

Effiong got confused.

“Why? He quizzed.

” Because my mother is the sun, I can’t be the sun again, I want to be a plant that looks like my mother, so that when she shines on me, I will smile back with through nectar,” she explained.

Effiong held her hand, his lips trembled.

“I love you, I want to spend the rest of my life with you, I have never fallen in love, I am a bad boy that his heart is always on the race but you give me solace any time I see you, please give me a chance to prove my love to you” he said.

Ginika broke free from him and backed him.

“Effiong, you are a good man and any lady would want to have, you have a kind heart and also caring. I don’t deserve you. I have done bad things that are currently hunting me. I ignored my dad on his sick bed and went away. I didnt even reply to his affirmation when he said he loves me. I didn’t care about my step brother which led to his death, my step mother left me, my family despised me, I am left with no one. Is this the kind of lady you want to be with? You deserve better Effiong, you deserve someone better than me” she said.

Effiong was speechless, it hurt him deeply and a lot ran through his mind. He was blindly in love. Ginika turned to him and touched his hand.

“Effiong, I am sick and I don’t know how long I have, my mother died at the exact age I am now, if I start dating you, I know you would want to be with me forever but what about the pain I will cause you when my crisis begin, or when I’m gone, I have put a lot of people in pain, I don’t want to add you to the list. Effiong please” she pleaded.

Effiong became teary, his face dropped and her words saddened his heart.

John looked at her surprisingly as she left. He went back into the room, picked a newspaper and his glasses and headed downstairs to the sitting room.

He heard Mary’s car zooming out of the gate. He was clad in a nicker and a white underwear, he concentrated on his newspaper while the scent of Aina’s food diffused from the kitchen.

She walked into the sitting room minutes later, she picked the remote and put on the television for him. The sound of the television got his attention, he looked up and his first sight was Aina’s body.

Her wide girdles parted her short skirt east and west. Her bosoms stood pointing her nipples at the frontal direction. A pleasant sight for a horny man.

He swallowed hard.

He gulped up the first cup before knowing what it was.

“I thought you said juice” he asked politely.

She smiled without a word and poured him another glass, he rushed it again. She poured him another glass and dropped the bottle.

” Let me check the food, you can help yourself. ” she said and left.

John became confused and felt intoxicated, he was not used to alcohol and he had never caught his wife drinking it, he pondered on how it came to be. On the other hand, he couldn’t control his thoughts because of what he was seeing.

He drank up another cup. His eyes were blurry and his erection skyrocketed.

Aina came in from the kitchen, knelt before him and unzipped his nicker. He protested.

“What are you doing? His speech toggled.

“What does that mean?” He asked as he looked at her with a gaze intoxicated by alcohol.

“Never mind sir, please eat” she replied.

He stared at the food.

“You know I can’t finish this, I don’t eat this much” he said.

” I know sir, but you need to finish this because you will be needing a lot of energy tonight ” she replied.

He devoured the food.

Aina’s phone rang.

The caller was Mary.

“Hello ma” she spoke in a cool worried voice.

“Hello my baby, how are you? How is my husband? Has he eaten?” Mary asked.

“He is currently eating.” Aina responded promptly.

“Haba, why are you responding like this now, are you still mad at me? I apologized already, see Aina, men are evil, they will ruin you that’s why I had to do what I did to get that boy off you, you don’t need him, they don’t have any value other than to break you” she exclaimed.

Aina hummed.

She continued.

” I will make it up to you dear, please take good care of my husband, I will be back before noon tomorrow, good night” she said and dropped the call.

Aina gave a fake faint smile and went back to meet John, he was done eating. She packed the plate and offered him the wine again but he rejected it.

“I have had enough for tonight Aina, please, help me to my bedroom” he said.

He rose but fell back, Aina helped him up and supported him with her hand around his waist while his hand around her neck.

He tottered.

At the passage to the bedroom, Aina dropped him intentionally and they both fell. She fell on him and started kissing him. He couldn’t protest it as Aina didn’t give space for rethinking.

She went straight for his nicker, naked him and made him through her. She sat on him and rode him like a stallion. John couldn’t resisit the sex machine grinding on him, he pulled off his underwear and held her waist.

John left for the bathroom and showered. The night was still young, hunger struck him.

He had two foods in the house with him.
