We kiss briefly and within just a few minutes it escalates to the point where I am very aroused. I begin to pull his shirt away from his skin when he suddenly pulls away.

“Go.”

Breathing hard, I look at him, unable to move, a confusion of emotions descending in a rush.

“What?”

“You should leave Tia. The driver is outside. I need to spend a few minutes in prayer.”

“Okay, can I atleast use the bathroom?”

“Sure,” I grab my bag and he directs me to the bathroom. When I enter the bathroom, I close the door behind my back then I stare at myself in the mirror wondering what just happened.

“Zyair!” My heart beats at the thought of my husband. “I just cheated on my husband with the Bishop. I shouldn’t have done it, but I don’t regret it. That kiss was fucking perfect. If he didn’t stop I would have probably slept with him. I mean if he kisses like that God knows how excellent he is in other things.

“Oh lord, forgive me for having such thoughts.”

I splash some water on my face, touch up the tiny bit of makeup and hair then I pull my dress down, smoothing it over me before I head out. In the living room, the Bishop is sitting on the floor with his eyes closed.

“I am off,” I say.

“Okay,” he replies.

He doesn’t even open his eyes. I quickly rush out of the house and get into the car.

On the way home, my heart is racing. I don’t even know how I will face Zyair. I have never cheated on my husband and I never thought I would until now.

I wonder why Bishop Kingsley would kiss me in the first place but I am not exactly innocent in all this, I kissed him back. I will blame it on the wine, I am sure if I was sober I would not have entertained him.

Should I call Sanna and tell her what happened? Would she believe me? What if she thinks I am trying to dent her Bishop’s name? Who do I even talk to about this? Why would God instruct that man to be close to me? Is there even such a thing?

“We are here,” the driver says, pulling me away from my thoughts.

“Thank you,” I step out and head for the door. At the door I hesitate a bit before I dig for my keys in my bag and open it. The house is quiet except for the music that’s playing in our room. Zyair loves to play music at night, he says it helps him sleep better.

I compose myself and enter the bedroom. He is sitting on the bed typing away on his phone.

“Hello,” I say.

“Hello,” he says, putting his phone down.

“How was the party?”

“The party?”

“Yes. Didn’t you say you went to a party? Sanna’s friend?”

With everything that’s been running through my mind, I had forgotten the party lie I told him before leaving the house.

“It was great,” I force a smile.

“You are okay?”

“Yes I am.”

I quickly undress and wrap a towel around me.

“I didn’t expect you home this early.”

‘”You want me to go back?”

“No. I am just saying.”

“The party ended fast, it was something very small and private.”

“Okay.”

“I am going to take a shower.”

“Sure.”

“It was just the wine that confused me.”

I keep telling myself that as I stand under the hot shower, trying to wash away the sinful acts I indulged in.

I feel so guilty and dirty. How am I even supposed to go to church tomorrow and face Bishop K? And I can’t even miss church tomorrow because it’s a special Sunday, we are being given membership certificates and being introduced to the church as new members.

When he asked me out for a meal, I thought he meant dinner, hanging out, getting to know one another.I had no idea it would get that far in a few minutes.

“It was just a kiss,” I tell myself before I turn off the water and grab a towel which I wrap around me as I step back into the bedroom.
