My girl Neighbour -S01 E14

Read Story: SEASON 1 EPISODE 14

"Can I sleep over?"

We already finished the movie and Emma was washing her bowl and the other dishes in the kitchen.

"Why? You live next door."

I laughed so hard with her response, she's still mad from the teasing earlier.

"Oh come 'on Em." I walked towards her and from behind, I hugged her.

I felt her stiffened and stopped. "What are you doing?"

"I'm sorry, Can I sleep over?" I tightened my hug around her waist and rested my cheeks on her back.

She wasn't speaking and just continued what she was doing so we stayed like that until after she's done.

She turned around but still my arms are around her waist.

"Can you let me go now?" she tried to take my arms away from her waist but I didn't let her.

"Say yes first." I rest my head on her chest, I'm taller than her so I bend my back down a bit. I think I could stay like this forever.

"Fine, sleep over. Now let me go."

"Hmmm." I have my eyes closed and I swear I could really stay like this forever.

I know she told me to let her go but even she wasn't moving, not taking my hands away from her waist. Does she like the feeling too? Or just humoring me?

"Now you're getting comfortable." She tried to walk with me literally attached to her but still not taking my hands away and I was giggling, I know she was too as I felt her shoulder moving up and down.

I looked up to her to see her smiling, she's enjoying it too and it melts my heart, the funny thing I felt in my stomach every time we're close like this is there again.

We reached her room still on that position and stayed like that for a minute when she reaches her hands and held me. She was hugging me back. This is not a drill, she's hugging me back.

My insides for sure are in havoc as I cannot contain my feelings right now. I may be over reacting but I don't care.

"As much as I like hugging you Jen, I need to go to the bathroom." She was smiling.

I let her go this time as I am too happy, I didn't say anything and just nodded at her.

I know, we hug already but not like this. We always do the side sort of hug when we are both sitting or in the bed where I put my hand on her waist or vice versa. And I know too that I shouldn't get my hopes up just because she's being touchy with me sometimes, it could mean nothing for her or just a friendly hug or worst sisterly hug. The thought of it erased the smile in my face and that was the scene where Emma walks out of the bathroom.

"Hey, something wrong?" she changed her clothes already and freshen up.

"Uhm, no. nothing at all." I forced myself to smile at her so she will not raise anymore questions.

She just looked me in disbelief and walk towards her closet to get me some pjs and handed them to me.

I should be more careful, I don't know what is this I'm feeling for her and I cannot drown to that.

I took a quick shower hoping that will help calm myself and not get awkward once we're both in the bed.

The lights are still on when I went out from the bathroom and saw Emma reading her book with her eye glasses on. She look cute, I think this is the first time I saw her with her glasses. My lips formed a smile involuntarily.

"Hey." She looked up to me when she noticed that I was still standing.

"You look cute." I can't help it, I needed to let it out and let her know the she looks adorable with her glasses. I guess I have an effect on her when her face turned red when she heard my compliment. She was shy and that made me smile.

I joined her in the bed, placed my phone on the bed side table and scooted over to her.

"What you readin'?"

She closed her book and looked at me. "As if you're interested."

I was about to response to that when I heard my phone buzz against the table. I looked at the clock hanging on her wall, it's almost 11. Who would text me at this time?

I reached to my phone confused, looked at the screen realizing Emma's head blocking most of it.

"Really?" she must've realized it just now as well that her head was blocking me from seeing my own message that she blushed and tried to reason out her action.

"I'm curious, okay. Who would text you at this time?"

"Excuse meeee. I have other friends." I pretended to be offended and my voice was in high pitch, not intentionally, I swear.

"Come 'on, open it. Let's see who is this friend of yours."

I unlocked my phone and open the message.

Hi Jenny. Is all written there that came from unknown number.

There's only one person who calls me by that name, she have given me that nickname as I have given hers, Katie.

But how did she get my number? After she left I changed it as I wanted to move on from her and from school, it was only Sam who knows it. Or am I jumping into conclusion? It could be anybody for all I know.

"Jenny? Who calls you Jenny?" Emma was giving me a questioning look, she's curious alright.

"I U-Uhm, I- I don't know." I put my phone back on the table and lay in the bed, Emma just watch me as I do so.

"Did anybody tell you that you're a bad liar?" she was still sitting on the bed, looking at me with her big hazel eyes and I can tell, she will not let this go.

I grabbed her arm and pulls her to lie in the bed with me. Her head ended up resting in my right arm.

"I think its Kate." I felt her moved and turned to face me.

"How do you know?"

"She was the only one that calls me Jenny, coz she was the one gave me that nick name."

"And she broke your heart." She stated. I sensed anger on her voice when she uttered the words.

I looked at her and she was staring at the ceiling. Is she angry or upset with Kate?

"Emma?"

"Hmm?"

"Are you okay?"

She turned to me again and smile.

"I should be the one asking you that."

"Well, I'm fine. But you sounded upset, so..."

"Of course I am upset. Even if you are the most annoying, irritating and most importantly, a tease person I have ever known, I care about you. You're my neighbor friend."

With that speech, she held my hand and brought it to her chest. And with that, the image of Kate erased.
