Hearing this Caleb, scoffed.

“Nathan, can you hear yourself talk? For Christ’s sake, why are you this senseless? Your wife is finally pregnant for you like you’ve always wanted. And instead of you throwing a party and celebrating for joy, you are here, accusing me of being responsible for her pregnancy” Caleb said.

“Deny it all you want Caleb. But one thing is certain, I will never forgive you and Daniella” Nathan said.

“So you don’t trust the woman you call your wife? Nathan, I can boldly vouch for Daniella. I can as well beat my chest to say she is not the type to cheat on you. Do you know how many times I’ve made advances at Daniella and yet, she stood her ground? If Daniella was loosed like you always portray her to be, then she would have begun sleeping around the very moment you left her all by herself. Look, Nathan, I really do not know what’s going on, but I advise you to take things easy. And sometimes, you need to learn to make your investigations first before jumping to a conclusion.

“You sure have a sweet way of defending your lover Caleb. But unfortunately, I am not a fool so I am not falling for your cheap games and lies ever again. And just so you know, whatever happens to Daniella because of this, is all your fault for not staying away from a married woman” Nathan said.

And with anger, he stormed out of the gate and entered his car.

(At Nathan’s house)

Daniella was staring happily at her pregnancy test result in her bedroom when Nathan returned barging in with anger on his face.

When Daniella raised her head and saw his facial expression, she became curious and worried.

“Babe? What’s wrong? Are you……?” Daniella was yet speaking when Nathan landed her a slap on her left cheek.

“Argh! Why did you slap me?” Daniella yelled out in shock.

“For how long were you going to fool me?” Nathan asked.

“I don’t understand,” Daniella said looking confused.

“How dare you try to make a fool out of me?” He raged.

“What are you talking about?” Daniella asked.

“Daniella, you made a great mistake thinking you can fool me into believing that the bastard in your womb is mine” Nathan yelled to her face.

Hearing this, Daniella’s heart sank. Her world came to a pause as she stood looking all lost and confused.

“Nathan…what are talking about? This baby is yours” She managed to say with her heart aching in pain.

“Lies! After you told me about the pregnancy, I rushed down to the hospital to run a fertility test. But guess what? the test result stated that I am still infertile which proves that there’s no way I could have fathered the child in your womb. So tell me, Daniella. Who the hell is responsible for this pregnancy?” Nathan yelled.

“Nathan, believe me, this baby is yours. And if you doubt me, you can as well run a DNA test on the baby once he or she is born” Daniella said.

“Shut up! Just shut up Daniella. I thought I could trust you. I thought by now, you must have gotten over Caleb. But little did I know that you two have been seeing each other behind my back” Nathan said with pain in his heart.

“No, Nathan. Believe me. God is my witness. I have never slept with Caleb or any other man behind your back. Even when you left home, I remained faithful to you. Even when my emotions almost took the best of me, I still overcame the temptations in the end” Daniella said with tears welling up in her eyes.

“Really? Do you seriously want me to believe this nonsense you just vomited?” Nathan asked.

“Believe me, Nathan I speak nothing but the truth,” Daniella said amidst tears.

“You know what? I don’t want to ever have anything to do with you or that bastard in your womb. I would rather remain childless than accept that thing in your womb” Nathan said.

“May God have mercy on you, Nathan. Because of the truth, you don’t know what you are doing” Daniella said amidst tears.

“Oh, come on. Stop using God’s name to justify your rubbish. You are nothing but a pretentious cheat. A liar that’s who you are. And I regret ever asking you to become my wife” Nathan said.
