Every woman’s dream is to meet their better half, the one who would love and care for her till they parted ways in death. My wedding day was the most memorable day of my life, but the night of my wedding was the genesis of my nightmares

I watched as my husband laid flat in bed, instead of him to be in a hurry to fu.ck his newly wedded wife whom he had never had se.x with. I presumed it to be tiredness. He slept like a log of wood, l had no choice but to sleep too. Every day went normal for us but every night, I felt my husband wasn’t with me.

Each f.ucking night, I would always sleep off and not waking up till the following morning. It was unlike me, what could be happening? Every night, my darling husband would make coffee for me, l loved coffee a lot and Bernard knew how to make them to my taste.

“Claire my love, here is your coffee, hope you’ll love it”, Bernard groused as he winked at me handing the cup of coffee to me. “Thanks”, l gently said as I placed the cup on my lips and walked away into the kitchen leaving him in the living room. I poured out all the contents into the kitchen sink and went to our room upstairs to meet my husband who had gone to bed as usual. He Never made sexual advances to me and never listened to me when l questioned him about his awkward behavior.

All of a sudden, l felt movements beside me, I had pretended for hours, faking sleep. He got up thinking I was way gone into the dream land, headed towards his study table and made for the drawer. He took out some bunch keys and went out of the room. I waited for sometime before l got up. He went downstairs to the room he had specifically warned me not to enter. The day he warned me, he was vibrating with every muscle in his body. I never trespassed.

Some minutes later, l heard moans of someone, no, it’s a man’s voice, moans of someone having se.x. My heart went pounding, it raced like it had never done before. What could be happening, who and who were having se.x. l wanted to break in but something told me not to, I left crying bitterly.

He came in and slept like nothing had happened. This went on for weeks, l didn’t take the usual coffees he would make for me. Every night, creeping out of bed and going into that same room. At times, I would hear someone crying, the cry would be so intense that would send goosebumps to my skin. I needed to know what it was in that room. What could it be?

“Claire, I’m sorry to tell you this but I’ll be away for two days please, a business trip actually and l have to get going now”, Bernard said as he packed his suitcase and was ready to leave. I moved closer to him and pecked him and he didn’t reciprocate the kiss. I’ve always felt he was cheating on me with someone, but his profile was clean. His calls were always business related or from family members. I wondered who exactly l had gotten married to.

I waited for some hours after Bernard had Left home. Ruminating on what next to do, l headed towards his study table, drew out the drawer and took the keys. It was now or never. Running down the stairs, my nerves were on fire. I felt some kind of excitement, yet l felt fear. What if what was inside was going to be beyound my power? What would be my fate? I prayed in my heart as I inserted the key into the keyhole of the door.

It gave way, getting into the room, it was dark. I searched in the dark for the light switches on the wall, finally found it and l switched it on. The room had some kind of irritating smell, I turned and looked onto the bed. I screamed my lungs out as l beheld an horrific sight. A woman was lying on the bed motionless. Dressed like someone who was about to be buried. She was dead. Her skin looked like that of someone that had long died, but was being preserved. I felt my system failing, l passed out right there in the room…
