XAVIER

Finally, the time had come for everyone to know the truth. It sure wasn’t easy to get everyone here under the same room but nothing bothered me more than the outcome. What I’m about to do is something that could literally condemn my life but Gwen was really to take that risk, so am I.

Just as I planned, everyone of the guest showed up at the meeting room but their moods wasn’t exactly cheerful. Everyone sat in their seats staring at each other with contempt especially the vampires and the werewolves, it was like they all all waiting for an opportunity to strike each other. Tyrese, Emma, Lavinia, Petra and Gilgamesh were present as well ; their presence was very necessary and I needed them to back me up in case anything happens.

Once everyone had taken their seat, I came out and stood in the middle of the room. Most people have stage frights but not me, I’ve never been afraid stand in a public and talk to them but on this particular night I was extremely nervous and full of doubt. The consequences of what I was about to say bothered me a lot but since I was here already, there’s no going back now. Finally, I summoned up enough courage and faced the audience before me, laying it all out on them.

Xavier Good evening everyone, it is an honor to have everyone of you here under this roof.

Werewolf 1 Skip the formalities parasite and get to the point.

Derrick Watch your mouth dog, don’t you dare talk to my son like that.

Xavier Please, please everyone stop! Let’s not fight here. This is a meeting not a fight club. Please you all should behave and listen to what I have to say.

Frost (head wizard) Carry on boy.

Xavier As I was saying, It’s an honor to have you all under this roof but I’m afraid what I’m about to say affects all of us. I’m sure you’re all wondering why you’re here?

Severin Get to the point.

Xavier Very well… History has been lying to us for a long long long time. We all have been blinded from the truth and led astray by an enemy whom we all thought was dead.

Jack And who might that be?

Xavier Omhigan, the genocidal goblin. He’s alive.

As soon as I said that, everyone started laughing except for Gilgamesh and the others. I stood confidently as they kept laughing but soon I began to get really pissed off cause the laughing was getting out of hand. After they’ve had their fill of laughter, they all began to ridicule me.

Jack This must be some kind of joke! Omhigan?

Victor As much as I hate to agree with Jack, he’s right. Are you sure you’re alright boy?

Frost It’s been millions of years since Omhigan died, there’s no way in hell he’d be alive. NO WAY.

Severin You’re the least person I expected to say something so ridiculous. You’re starting to behave like your traitorous sister.

I felt very hurt by Severin’s words that I wanted to lunch him but doing that would automatically end the meeting so I controlled my temper.

Xavier You’re all right. It seems ridiculous. That’s what I thought at first but it seems that Gwen was right this whole time.

Instantly, everyone turned and looked at me at the mere mention of Gwen, they all stared at me suspiciously trying to figure out what I meant but didn’t wait for them to find out.

Derrick Xavier, where are you going with this and what do you mean by that statement?

Xavier Millions of years ago, all nations lived together in peace right? But after Omhigan’s attack and defeat, we all became bitter enemies. Why?

Frost Uh.. .

Jack Well,… Uhm..

Lazarus Er… Well.. We Uhm.

Xavier You see? None of you knows the answer. It doesn’t make any sense, How could all nations live in peace and then later on become enemies? We all know about the wars our ancestors had with each other but what sparked the war?

Frost Are you saying that Omhigan was responsible for that?

Xavier Exactly. He never died. I don’t know how but he’s responsible for the division and hatred between our nations.

Severin An interesting theory but I don’t believe in any of this. This is nothing but a waste of time.

Frost If Omhigan is alive then where is he?

Xavier I don’t know but there was one person that saw him and that person was Gwen.

Severin Don’t be ridiculous! How can you believe that traitor? She betrayed her us.

Xavier No! She didn’t. I should have defended when she needed me. She was the one that saw the lie and tried to save us from it but we were too blind to see it. Remember when she proved the existence of that hybrid werewolf?

Jack Hold on.. That monster is a hybrid?

Xavier Yes. It has vampire and werewolf blood running through it’s veins.

Severin I don’t believe this.

Xavier Shut your mouth Severin! Wake up! All of you! How can you explain the incredible speed it had? not even I could outrun it. I’ve tried processing that mystery in my head but I couldn’t not until I found out about the truth.

Victor This is nothing but a hoax. If our history had been a lie then how come you’re the one that found out about it? Someone would have found out as well.

Tyrese He’s not the only one that found out about the truth.

In that moment, Everyone looked at the direction of Tyrese as he came out and stood right next to me. I wasn’t expecting this interruption but it’s sure nice to see that I’m covered.

Tyrese Greetings everyone.. I know you all feel confused and doubtful but seriously take a moment and think about it. Before Gwen escaped, she made a public statement that left everyone thinking. Look at us, gathered here under the same roof, it’s really good sign of a peaceful accords between us all.

Derrick Don’t be ridiculous, I’ll never align myself with the likes of you.

Jack I was just thinking the same thing. There’s no way in hell that our nations will ever be united.

Tyrese Perhaps I can prove you all wrong.

Severin How do you suppose to do that?

Tyrese I’ll show you. Lavinia .

Victor’s face squeezed into hideous frown as he heard Tyrese call his daughter but before he could do or say anything, Lavinia soon stood right next to Tyrese shaking with fear. The Shameless brute wasted no time in putting his hands around her despite her father’s presence and that didn’t sit well with Victor at all.

Victor What’s the meaning of this? Get your filthy hands off my daughter!!

Jack Tyrese! Get your hands off her.

Victor Xavier!! Are you going to stand there and let this dog mess with your fiance?

Tyrese Excuse me sir but your daughter’s heart belongs to me. We’re in love.

Victor This is OUTRAGEOUS!! Tell me this isn’t true, Lavinia.

Lavinia It is father.

Victor You traitor! What about the father of your unborn child?

Xavier Sorry sir, but the child isn’t mine. It’s his.

Victor TRAITOR!! I can’t believe my own flesh and blood is a traitor. By the time, we get home you will pay for your treachery!

Derrick Xavier! You knew about this and you never said anything? You’re traitor just like the others.

Xavier I don’t care father. Besides, I have my own secret to reveal. Everyone I’d like you to meet the love of my life and mother of my unborn child. Petra, please step forth.

Petra came out and stood right next to me, I grabbed her hand and kissed her forehead before facing my father. The look in his eyes was like that of a predator with the intense urge to kill.

Derrick XAVIER!! tell me this isn’t true.

Xavier It is father!

Derrick You join your traitorous sister to betray your family? Why? WHY?

Xavier Love, father. Love. When I first saw Petra, I linked with her. I couldn’t believe it but it was real. All my life, I was told that vampires only link romantically with it’s own kind. Can any of you explain this?..

Severin It doesn’t matter! This is treachery!

Frost ENOUGH!!!

Severin You dare interrupt me, Wizard?

Frost There is a saying, the more you look, the less you see.

Jack What are you trying to say?

Frost We all are blinded by the truth. I don’t believe that Omhigan is alive but what I do believe in what these youngsters are saying. Love is a very powerful thing and if it could bring 2 enemies together then I’d say its a good thing.

Severin Your opinion isn’t needed wizard!

Frost Let me ask you a question Severin? Aren’t you tired of this rivalry? Don’t you want all this to end? Let’s face it, the truth is obvious clear. That hybrid is a proof of what these youths are saying, I for one wouldn’t have believed them if I hadn’t seen that monster with my own two eyes.

Jack Normally, I wouldn’t have agreed either but there is something I also believe in. Fighting for what’s right and true even if though the consequences are great.

Tyrese here has never been one to care about anyone but himself but now that I see him standing next to this vampire, defying all laws despite knowing full well it’s an act of treason. I have no object against this.

Severin You’re only agreeing with this nonsense because he’s your brother.

Jack Tell me Severin, Why would they put themselves at this high risk if they weren’t telling the truth. The Grand wizard is right. It’s time we put this rivalry behind us and work together. I’m willing to negotiate a peaceful cooperation and coexistence with you vampires if you would do that same with us. What do you say?

The meeting room fell into an utmost silence, All the representatives of the vampire family were mute and in deep thought including Serevin. I wasn’t sure what they were going to say but from the way things were going I’d say it’s evident that they would still refuse. Moments later, Severin stood up and addressed everyone in the meeting room speaking on behalf of the vampires.

Severin This has been quite a night and I never expected this meeting to turn out like this but before we say anything, we’ll have to take our leave and talk this through. We’ll get our answers once we’re done.

Frost this is your embassy! We could all give you some space to talk. This meeting has to end tonight.

Jack I agree. Let’s give them some space.

Severin Our discussion may take hours! Can you wait that long?

Frost Yes. Even if it takes all night.

Severin Alright then. You can all leave this room except for Xavier and Lavinia. They must stay.

Frost Of course.

Tyrese (silently) I don’t like this.

Petra (silently) Me too. I’m worried.

Xavier (silently) Nothing’s going to happen.

Lavinia (silently) I hope so.

Tyrese Okay you guys. See you in the next couple of hours. I hope this turns out well in the end.
