Read Story: SEASON 1 EPISODE 5
Janet stared at me for a while before making a response.
“If you want to read it, you can of course, but it’ll mean my standing here and watching you till you’re done. That’ll be stressful for me you know?”
I thought about what she said, and coupled with how tired I felt, I simply flipped to the last page and signed the contract.
“Thank you so much, miss..?,” she asked with her hands extended for a handshake.
“Miss Lillian. I’m Lillian, nice meeting you.”
She smiled warmly, and instructed me to go downstairs where a driver was waiting to drive me to my new home.
“My new home? But, my siblings…”
“Your siblings have already been picked from the hospital and taken back home. One of our best chefs and housekeeper has been sent over there to oversee them for now, until all arrangements have been finalized to have them in our boarding facility. All you have to do now, Lillian is to go home, and relax. I’ll call you in two days time.”
I nodded, and went back to the elevator. I pressed the number 1, and as I felt the elevator going down, I began to cry. I was crying for my dead elder brother who was lying in the morgue, having his life cut short by what wasn’t his fault. I was crying for my father who was in a coma at the hospital with the chances of his survival being as slim as I remembered the last time I had seem him. I was crying for my siblings that had just been thrown into the middle of what they didn’t understand, without the supervision of a loved one. I was crying for myself that had just signed a contract that gave my body and soul to a man that I had just met. I was crying to God.
“Why is all this happening to me?,” I cried as the elevator rumbled down to the ground floor.
“Why me?”
