Dad bailed you out again?”. Dominic said cynically as I joined her in the kitchen and opened the fridge to get trophy.

I didn’t turn to look at her or anything.

I was used to Dominic’s childish behavior.

She was only a year older than me and because of the little age difference between us, a lot of people always assumed that we were twins.

Though i was more beautiful than she was because i had a smaller mouth but she was taller than I was.

She sighed bitterly as she watched me pour down the alcohol down my throat. “All my life, I have worked my ass out but dad never really paid much attention but you that is not always making any effort to please them, they always look at only YOU. Now you killed Gretta but they allowed you to come out of jail in just fifty hours”.

I glared at her. “I didn’t kill Gretta”.

She rolled her eyes. “We both know that you have always been envious of Gretta”.

“Envious?why will I be envious of her?”.

She laughed cynically.

“I need to do a DNA test. You act like those hot blooded sisters in Filipino movies”.

She ignored me and walked into her room.

I followed her to her room.

She sat on her blue soft bed and elegantly took off her deep blue stilettos.

I watched the elegance she used to take it off.

Dominic was a prosecutor.

She never lost a case but anytime I was accused of anything, she would never butt in.

Did she just hate me or my way of life?

It was just hard to understand.

My sister’s hard feelings.

“Dominic, how was work today?”.

I was always the more mature one.

She sighed deeply. “I have been rejecting this particular case at work but today, I agreed to take up the case”.

“What case is that?”.

“What does a block head know about court cases?”.

I chuckled. “You never can tell sis”.

She grimaced. “You stink like hell. Get out of my room”.

I made face at her. “Ex-convicts stink at times”.

“I don’t need an ex-convict in my room right now”.

I walked out of her room and trudged to my parents room.

I greeted them but they didn’t respond.

“I am sorry”. I said softly and watched their hard expression. I cleared my throat. “I didn’t kill Gretta”.

This time,my father met my eyes. “If Raymond Maxson finds a proof, you will have to go back to jail”.

I watched them closely. “Do any of you believe in me?”. I searched their eyes but they were still doubtful.

My own family…

My own family didn’t trust me.

I walked into the bathroom and turned on the shower.

I closed my eyes as the water poured into my soul.

I creamed and wore a red cagoule and jeans.

It was eleven pm but I needed a walk.

A walk away from my detached family.

Now thinking about it, who would have killed Gretta and set me up?

Who hated me that much?

I walked on along the cold streets of the island.

Suddenly, i sensed that someone was following me.

A red Toyota Camry.

I stopped and the car stopped too.

As expected, the driver got out of the car.

I recognized him.

Ryan Smith.

The son of the chairman of KIA MOTORS.

What was he doing? Why was he following me?

He stretched a hand to exchange pleasantries but I didn’t take the hand. “Any problem?”. I asked him curiously.

“I am Raymond Maxson’s best friend but i am a fan of yours”.

I smirked. “Fan? Do I look like a celebrity to you?”.

He chuckled. “Yes. An infamous celebrity that I have a big crush on. The crazy daughter of Hilary Harrison”.

I glared at him. “Are you teasing me right now?”.

“Oh no, don’t take it personal. I was only joking”.

“The question right now is, why were you following me?”.

He sighed deeply. “I just felt it in my heart that after your father released you this evening, you will feel lonely and rejected so I…”.

“I don’t appreciate your pity!”

“I am not pitying you, I am just being understanding”.

“You don’t even know anything”.

“Then tell me everything. I have all the time in the world to listen to you, Rosa”.

“Why on earth are you doing all this?”.

“I like this condemned girl that is very lonely inside”. He said softly.

For the first time in my life, my heart melted.

My heart had never melted for any man but those words he had said to me.

“Despite all you have heard about me, you still don’t condemn me in your heart?”.

“There is nothing bad about you, Rosa. You are just who you are because you are who you are”.

I cleared my throat. “Thank you, Ryan”. I tried so hard to make sure that my voice does not sound pushy or emotional.

“Let’s take a walk”. He stretched a hand.

I didn’t accept his hand. Instead I walked on.

He smiled and followed me from behind. “You met Raymond Maxson today right ?”.

I rolled my eyes. “That guy is a pain in the ass. He is a fake detective”.

“Raymond’s sentimental attitude has almost landed him into trouble several times”.

“Why is the he-goat still your friend?”

“Why is Dominic still your sister?”.

I gasped. “You know my sister?”.

“I know her more than I know you”.

“How come?”.

“I knew her through Raymond’s father because she works with him”.

I smiled. “My sister is famous”.

He chuckled. “You too”.

“No, you said it yourself. ‘Infamous’. My sister is famous but I am ‘infamous’.

“I am sorry I said that earlier”.

“You don’t have to be sorry”.

He held my hand without my consent this time. “Rosa Harrison, I believe that you didn’t kill Gretta”.

My heart began to beat so fast. He believed in me? Someone believed in me? Someone I didn’t even know. “You believe I didn’t kill Gretta? Why?”.

“…because the Rosa Harrison I know would never kill anyone”.

“You don’t even know me”.

“I know you enough, Rosa Harrison”.

We stared at each other for a while but I was the first to look away.

“Have you eaten since you returned from jail?”.

“I had trophy”.

“Trophy is not food”. He walked to his car and returned with a pack of food. “Get into the car so that you will be able to eat comfortably”.

I obeyed him because my stomach was rumbling already.

After eating the Afrikstories chinese rice to my fill and drinking water, I felt so good.

He gave me his business card. “Call me anytime you need me”.

I met his eyes. “Thank you, Ryan”.

“For what?”

“For believing me”.

I marched into Sparkles company shamelessly.

I ignored the hard stares from my colleagues.

I didn’t kill anyone, so why should I avoid the company?

I walked into my office and smiled to myself.

I missed the scent of my office.

Benson rushed into my office. “Mother fucker, guess what! The company changed your manager!”.

“Why?”

“Your old manager is now managing the recruiting department”.

“Who is my new manager?”

“She is in her office”.

“She?”. I rushed out to see my new manager in her office.

It was a young lady.

She looked in her early thirties.

I was never expecting my manager to be so young. “Are you the Rosa Harrison?”. She asked me with a sneer in her voice.

“Yes ma’am. I pray it will be nice working with you”.

“Nice meeting you, Rosa Harrison. My name is Mirabel Anderson, the elder sister of the deceased Gretta Anderson”
