Charles’s POV

When we left the restaurant, something unexpected happened. Someone called me Charley Anderson I looked back and saw a lady running from behind me and she flew on me and gave me a kiss on my lips. I was shocked because I didn’t know her from anywhere. When I was able to disengage from her I asked her sorry do I know you? I even tried to introduce Diana to her as my fiancée but she was having none of that she claimed that I got her pregnant and left her to fend for herself and our unborn child. I asked her if she was sure that it was me that got her pregnant. But she took it as an insult saying that you think that I don’t know the father of my child? I tried my best to defuse the situation but this lady was adamant until I threatened to call the police on her. Once I did this, she faded away. I went to Diana and held her hand and said I know what you must be thinking but whatever that lady said isn’t true. But she angrily took her hand from me and said to take her home. I called the limo driver and he came around with the car and we got in to the vehicle before he shut the door. I tried to talk to Diana during the car ride home but she wasn’t answering me or if she did she gave me one worded answers. So I decided to leave her alone for the moment. I thought to myself what a beautiful date that was just ruined by someone I didn’t even know from anywhere. As soon as we pulled over in front of Diana’s apartment, she bolted out of the car and I went after her.

Diana’s POV

After the debacle on our way home from dinner, I wasn’t ready to talk to Charles because I felt he had betrayed my trust by sleeping with that lady. On the ride home I was not talking to him or even if I said anything I was just giving him just one word answers and as soon as the limo pulled over in front of my house I bolted out of the car but Charles ran after me and I stopped and signalled him to stop with my two hands in front of me with my palms facing outwards. He came close to me and said I know what you are thinking but I don’t know that lady from anywhere please believe me. I said that’s hard for me right now Charles I need some time to think. He went on his knees and asked me you remember when we were about to go to university? And I nodded because I was already tearing up by this time and he continued you remember the promise I made to you and I said yes you promised to keep yourself for me. He showed me the necklace which I gave him all those years ago to signify my love for him. He said I kept this necklace all these years because I love you and want to spend the rest of my life with you and he added now why would I want to cheat on you with her. He said Diana you’ve got to believe me I don’t know that lady and he said please Diana do not let this little misunderstanding ruin what we have. I saw it in his eyes that he was telling the truth and he stood, dusted off his trouser at the knee and was about to take his leave he had taken a few steps away from me when I called his name and he turned to me and I ran into his arms. I said I believe you and he asked how? I said that I saw it in your eyes and I asked him so what are we going to do about that lady? I added she might try to make trouble for us and you know that our wedding is coming up in three months time. He said that I’ll handle it and I said I would like to be involved in what you are planning to do. He asked me do you trust me? I responded you know I do. He said to trust him and that if there is anything you can do I’d let you know. Charles walked me to my apartment door and he kissed me good night on my forehead. I invited him in but he said he had a long day tomorrow and that he needed a lot of sleep. He said please do not think about what happened after dinner tonight. He left me at the door and when he got to the car he waved at me and I waved back and walked into my apartment. I did all my night duties like brushing my teeth, taking a shower and before going to bed, I said my prayers before lying down to sleep.
