I ran after Onome as she led me aimlessly towards the motor park , the road was very busy , it was a Monday morning , travellers justling up and down to their various destinations. Onome meandered through a busy road an okada man who dodge her fell into a gutter beside the road .

” Na your papa you go put for wahala idiot ! Na me you want put for trouble ”

He cursed at my sister . We ignored him and kept up running and then we got to the motor park where a large crowd of people gathered in a big circle of about two hundred people , mumbling and some crying ,.Onome was pushing her way into the middle I followed her closely

” Aaaaah see fine girl , very young girl when her own don’t finish ! Na God go punish all this yahoo boys when full Benin , ahhh people get mind ooo”

A bread seller at the junction who left her shop to come and do amebo said .

” Haaà na them the chop yahoo boys now yahoo boys done chop this one life ! This na the third girl this boys don’t use for ritual dump her body for this same park !!!

Another person added

” I see them oh na one white Lexus Jeep come park for there , na him two of the Yahoo boys jump down comout the body for boot of their motor come throwaway am like a bag of trash , zoom off immediately , na God go punish all the evil people .”

My heart was beating , I was trembling , I kept praying to God in my heart that my fears shouldn’t come through , that it shouldn’t be want I was dreading.

Then I saw her ,lying in the mud , she looked so beautiful as if she was sleeping, her thick black hair poured to the side of her hair , her eye brows so thick , she was a sleeping beauty, I carried her on my lap as I sat in the muddy stagnant water that her body was dumped in

“God!!!! I must be dreaming !

I wept bitterly, I began to remember all the good times we shared together, how I uses to back her to school, how I used to Buy gifts for her with my chop money , how Ejiro would cry if I refused to take her along with me when I was going to stay with my friends ,I loved her more than anyone in my family, we were best of siblings until mama succeeded in turning her against me . A single stab wound on her chest in-between boobs ,the blood had dried up . It means she was killed yesterday night and they wanted till this morning to dump her body .

Then I heard mama’s voice crying and screaming in the crowd behind me , she came to join me and Onome carry her

” If you touch her! I swear I don’t know what I’ll do to you ! Don’t touch her mama go away from here.”

Neighbours who knew our story began to insult mama

” Shebi na waiting you want , she done finally die I hope you done satisfy? Evil mother, I hope say other mothers go learn lesson not to push their daughters into hustling and sell body .”

The police van came and put Ejiro’s corpse into the back of their Hilux Onome and myself joined her corpse in the back , I held on to my sisters body , in the police station after a series of questions from witnesses , the police said they’re on the trail of this killer yahoo plus boys .

We did a wake keep for Ejiro , she was like a sleeping beauty in her casket , papa didn’t show up for the burial ,he only came to the house and packed his few remaining belongings and moved to the house of his concubine who had given birth to a baby boy for him . A month after the burial I was done with Benin , I got a place in Lagos, Bose gave birth to a baby girl and we named her after my late sister. Mama begged me to stay with her, but I took Onome , I wasn’t leaving her behind for mama to corrupt her , I took Bose and our daughter Ejiro and moved to Lagos.

Mama was left to live alone in the house .
