A month had passed since I came back home to Nigeria and I’ve gotten used to the change around here,…. Since I was now on vacation, I decided to enjoy myself until I resume back to work and also help my parents with some minor house work.

Despite being on vacation, I’ve decided to work on my body and of course dancing… Every morning at 6:00am, I would jog for 20 minutes and practise my dance moves in Abuja’s central park , once I was done, I would return back home for breakfast .

Since I’ve been single for years, I decided to throw myself in the social life and date… But that wasn’t so difficult because Collins and I were already going out together.. He was quite nice and funny but he tends to be a little bit egocentric.

Collins wants me to go steady with him but in all honesty, I wasn’t really ready for any serious relationship or commitment, all I wanted to do was to have fun. So Collins and I went on a few dates and shared a few kisses but no s-x was involved… He wanted to have one with me but I showed him my legs were closed…

As much as I hate to admit it, Peter’s words were ringing in my ears whenever I had to urge to have s-x.. His principles of maintaining my feminine dignity was imprinted into my mind and it has been keeping me straight through these years without committing any sin.

Being the egocentric fellow that he is, Collins would use every opportunity to show the world that he was dating me, he even tried writing a column about the two of us being madly in love but I dissuaded him from doing so. Though he never showed it, I knew Collins was trying to build a fame for himself at my expense.

To boost his ego and self pride, Whenever we go on dates, Collins would take me to where people would see the both of us.. I understood the game he was playing and I decided to warn him never to take out to places where he’d be showing me off like a peacock.

I wanted to ditch the b-stard and be done with him but that wouldn’t be nice.. Besides he has some good qualities and there’s no harm in what he’s trying to do… After all, he was just using his opportunity to make it better in life.. So I decided to give him a break and told him to adjust and he did… In fact Collins toped his game by being romantic, He would send me gifts , sweet delicacies and romantic texts to show his love for me.. I found all his tactics so interesting and I was beginning to fall for him, But something happened that Changed the course of my relationship to another direction.

Just after some weeks since I started dating Collins, Peter returned back to Abuja, I first heard it from his mom, because the celebrity tabloids began posting about him… I couldn’t believe it at first but it was true… Despite what happened between us, I was excited about his return but I was suddenly nervous about meeting him face to face… Peter too who I’m sure knew I was around, began dodging me as well, It was hard for me to see him, In fact he hardly spent time at his parents house, He would stay out somewhere where I wouldn’t see him, I too kept my distance and pretended not to care whether he was around.

Happiness who had heard about his return came to parents house one afternoon to discuss about the issue.. I was in the living room when she walked into my house.

Happiness Angelina… Have you heard? Your beau is back.

Angelina So? What else is new?

Happiness Don’t b*llshit me Angelina! I know you’re still in love with him… Why didn’t you tell me you guys had split up?

Angelina Who told you that?

Happiness I met with Kevin.. He told me everything.. What happened?

Angelina I really don’t know… He just stopped talking to me.. I tried calling or texting him but he never replies me.

Happiness Just like that??? There must be a reason why he acted that way.. Have you offended him in anyway?

Angelina I haven’t.. I really wish I knew why he decided to stop talking to me.

Happiness Well don’t you think this is a chance to talk to him and find out what happened.

Angelina I don’t know Happiness.. I don’t know.. Peter doesn’t want to see me.. He’s avoiding me..

Happiness Well do whatever it takes to find him… You know this kind of issue could create problems in the future.

Angelina Look.. I don’t know where to find him.. he’s like a ghost.

Happiness Just find him and talk to him.. It’s better you deal with this once and for all..

As we were both talking, My mom walked into the house looking exhausted.. She sat on the couch breathing hard, sweat was all over her forehead and face.

Angelina Welcome back mom!

Happiness Evening ma.

Alice Evening Ladies… Whew.. Jesus.. I’m beat.. Angel… You have to shop for groceries for tonight’s meal.

Angelina Okay but I’ll go later..

Alice No.. I want to make dinner early… I don’t want your father to come back and be grumbling… It’s better you go now when mall is not crowded.

Angelina Okay Mom.. Will you help me out Happiness?

Happiness Sorry. You’re on your own.. Plus.. There’s somewhere I have to be right now.

Angelina Seriously!?

Happiness Sorry… See you later.

Happiness left our house in that moment, I stood up after a while and got dressed before going to the mall.

Minutes later, I was at the mall shopping for the groceries.. Mom had made a list of the things I was going to buy.. There was frozen fish, canned fish (Sardine) and last but not the least vegetables.

I first brought the frozen fish and Sardine before going to the vegetable section,.. The vegetables weren’t fully ripped and most of them were a little bit rotten,… I wonder why mom buys vegetables from the mall, the once in the market were much more better and good looking, While I was checking out some of the good ones, Someone tapped me from behind… As I turned around, I let go of my basket as I was who the person was…. It was Peter.

Peter too was surprised to see me, He froze looking at me from head to toe not believing what his eyes was seeing.

I took a quick look at him and I was amazed how he had changed physically, He had grown a little bit tall, his dressing was still the same as always.. His eye glasses were new but the frames were the ones I knew him with.. He had gotten a little moustache at the side of his face, like the one on Ice prince, It made him look so handsome. His hair was curly and his arms looked so manly.. He wasn’t his former slender self, his body now looks fit and brawny giving him a slight athletic build, though I know he wasn’t good at sports .

We looked at each other for while without saying anything, even the people who were passing by, wondered if we were both insane.. After while, Peter surprised me by extending a greeting.

Peter Hey.. It’s been a while.. Nice to see you.

I couldn’t believe he said that.. I thought he was avoiding me, maybe he was just pretending to be pleased about seeing me but deep in his heart, I bet he’s throwing insults at me.. Oh well.. What the hell? It’s not nice to ignore a greeting.. Let me just get on with it.
