Sister Mag walked down into her office. She met sis Audrey already sitted. Patiently waiting for her.

“Sister Audrey sorry I took long” she Apologized.

” No problem sister Mag. We could start our discussion right away” sister Audrey smiled. As mag found her way to her seat.

” Hmm.” She say down and fonded her hands together. Gently resting her elbows on the desk.

” How far is the preparation for the Pope’s visit?” She asked.

“The committee are still working on that. But we assure that it will be smoothly planned before the next two weeks of the Pope’s arrival” sis Audrey clearly stated.

” That’s a relief” she smiled and then continued

” You know well that since our fifty three years stay in this cathedral, the Pope hardly visits. So this is a rare opportunity and we need to cast all our efforts to make his short stay here a success” sis Mag trailed off.

She, sister Audrey and Sister Dorcas are the three oldest nun in the convent. Their age range 60-63. Mag is the oldest.

The rest nuns are below forty, thirty, twenty six and the youngest of all Miriam twenty.

Speaking of Miriam, she saw the need to tell sister Audrey the Impromptu message from Miriam’s Mother.

“Audrey there is something I need to tell you. It’s about Miriam” she added.

“Okay? Is she in another trouble this Time around? Did she break any rule?”

” Far from that” Mag shooked her head .

” Okay am listening” Audrey silenced.

” I received word from Sarah, Miriam’s Mother”

” What does she want ?” Sis Audrey frowned.

She dislikes that woman for what she did to her child twelve years ago. Sarah didn’t display the quality of a good mother at all.

” She asked to see her daughter. Miriam” sister Mag spoke out.

“What?? She has some nerves huh? So she finally remembered she has a daughter here in the convent? A daughter who she heartlessly Abandoned at our mercy?? She wants to see her??..

Hope you didn’t tell Miriam this” Audrey flared up.

Mag expected such reaction from her . No one is happy with Sarah for what she did.

“Well I did, few minutes ago. I ran into her and told her”

” Oh Heavens!!!! But why? Do you want to ruin Miriam? You perfectly know what that poor girl passed through during those ugly years. You remember how many times she fell sick. And the trauma she passed through all because of Sarah her mother.

You should not have told her. What if she does something rash to herself?” Audrey ranted aloud.

Sister Mag hadn’t thought of that . How stupid! She palmed her head in regret.

” But still she had to know that her mom sent word or she wouldn’t forgive us if she found out later by herself. She might end up thinking we were the ones that took her away from her mom”. Sis Mag retorted.

Yeah, that’s true . Audrey thought. Miriam would not be happy afterwards if she finds out herself later.

” So what’s your answer to this request?” Audrey asked.

” I give my consent. She can go see her mom” mag trailed off. Taking Audrey by surprise.

“What??… Magdalene! ” Audrey forcefully yelled her name.

” Telling her about her Mom is enough. You should not have given your consent” Audrey freaked out.

” I have my reasons Audrey. Besides she’s her mother”

“Hmm-mmm. That’s a falacy! She ended all rights as a mother over Miriam the very day she abandoned her here in our care.

Miriam belongs to us! She belongs to this convent! She is our Right and she is going nowhere” Audrey Argued aloud.

” Take it easy Audrey. No one is trying to claim Miriam.

Her mom just wants to see her. Not take her back . It’s too late for that anyway.

Miriam will only travel to see her and then come back in a week’s time. Sarah isn’t gonna claim her.

Miriam belongs to us”

Magdalene stated clearly.

“Isn’t a week too long? A day or two should be enough. I don’t want Miriam getting used to her mom” Audrey frowned.

“She won’t Audrey. I’ll make it clear to her. Besides she knows herself that this convent is her home and no one, not even her stray mother can change that!”

Mag retorted , soothing Audrey.

“Alright, that’s better. Miriam gets to travel a week before the Pope’s Arrival. I don’t want her to miss out on this rare event. Besides it’s gonna be her first time to see a Pope apart from the ones on TV shows. She has to be there ” Audrey added as Mag continuously nodded in Agreement to her every word.

” She will come back before then” Mag assured.

” Good” Audrey smiled in satisfaction.

” And Don’t forget to tell her she’s the Baby of this convent before she travels” Audrey added with genuine smiles before leaving Mag’s office.
