Things have been going surprisingly well, it’s a known fact that I love Ashton. Yes I love the guy and he have been so sweet to me ever since which have been like a dream come true.

We were taking things slowly we both knew the limit and believe me it was helping our case and I believe with time, Charlotte would have the perfect family she have always wished for but we had to take things gently. No rush.

Julia is an entirely forgotten case. It have been six months since she got into an accident,she have been discharged and she have already been charged to court for attempted murder and a load of other crimes since she has executed the death of many people and I find that pretty sad.

Her mom was devastated of course and for a spilt second I actually felt pity for her,but on remembering all I went through,i felt more angry. She deserves everything that is happening to her right now and more.

Ashton’s mom case is another matter entirely,she have been trying really hard to get to talk to me. I didn’t feel angry towards her but a part of me still thinks she is doing this to get on the good side of her son since we are probably going to be together and not that she regrets picking Julia over me. She really mistreated me in the past for no reason and I honestly don’t think I can just let that go.

So in summary, things have been pretty good between Ashton and I since there was no obstacle between us anymore,so we were just tryna discover ourselves and yes we spent more time bonding with Charlotte and I think even though we are not perfect right now,we are close to perfect.

“What are you grinning at?” Tyler’s voice brought me out of my subconscious.

I raised an eyebrow “nothing really”.

“Sure it’s nothing,you have been spacing out a lot huh?” He was saying until the doorbell rang

“You answer that” I said gesturing to the doorbell.

“Now this is just being disrespectful” he whined but he still went ahead to open the door.

A good gentleman.

“Bustamante” I heard Tyler say.

“Call me Ashton outside the office,I am just 31 you know” Ashton teased.

“I would keep that in mind buddy”

“You always say that. Where is Kim?”

Tyler looked around the room,I was watching their entire conversation from behind the shelf. “She was here a while ago. Looks like she bailed out on you” he teased.

“I bet she wouldn’t do that… Kim! Kim” he called. Okay this was getting interesting.

He moved few steps away from tyler who was still standing by the door ,his eyes roaming around the room.

“Ouch” I heard Ashton say rubbing his knee area. He must have hit his knee on one of the furnitures.

I snickered and that managed to get Tyler’s attention whose eyes locked with mine immediately,he raised an eyebrow and was about to talk when I silenced him with my eyes.

“Easy buddy” he called after Ashton. “I would be on my way now. I gat to be somewhere”.

“Okay?”

“Tell Kim I said bye” he said again like I wasn’t listening to whatever he was saying.

Sly.

“Okay” he said again.

After about five more minutes of Ashton looking around the sitting room,I finally got tired of standing on my tiptoe and I bent to take of my heels but that was a mistake because it made a loud thumpy sound and Ashton definitely heard because his head snapped to the shelf area immediately. He already saw me and I grimaced,no more hide and seek.

“Okay stop playing Kim” he said trying to sound strict but he failed woefully because there was a smile on his face.

“Kim?” Someone called and I turned back immediately. I frowned immediately I saw who it was.

It was Brenda and man,was I happy to see her?

No,I wasn’t happy to see her again and I definitely didn’t expect to see her in my kid’s school.

My head swirled through 360 thoughts in one minute,she couldn’t prolly be here to harm my daughter or any child here right?

Don’t blame me,the lady is not to be trusted. She was trusted once but not once again.

“What are you doing here?” I blurt out.

She forced a smile. “I mean no harm,I am here to pick my son up” she said and I froze.

“You have a son?”

“Yes I do. He is three years old and he schools here too” she explained.

“Okay?” I said in an attempt to end the conversation.

“Kim,can I talk to you for a second?” She asked again.

“Why?” I retorted.

“I just want to talk… please”.

“I appreciate it, but I don’t want to talk to you” I deadpanned.

“Just a moment, please” she persisted.

I huffed before turning around. “Okay talk” I told her.

As I expected she was just gonna apologise,of course her mentor is already locked up in jail.

That was what I thought until she told me she have lost touch with Julia over the years,that she wasn’t exactly a good influence and she spoilt her life in so many ways. She went on to explain how Julia have introduced her into doing drug which she had to use a huge amount of money to flush her system and how her unhealthy usage of drug has affected her son’s health.

I honestly felt bad for the little boy,but this was all her fault. She should have thought about her actions before taking it. She went on to tell me how Julia introduced her to the guy that got her pregnant and she never told her that the man was married and just wanted a good time,she had thought the man was single and needed a serious relationship but it was opposite of what she expected. He just wanted to have someone to f--k whenever he was outside his home and that unfortunately had to be her.

She didn’t look so good,she wasn’t looking good at all and I felt really bad for her. She said the man was nice enough to provide their son with child support monthly so she was doing well financially but not mentally.

I don’t know if I can forgive her yet. Even if I would,I don’t think this is the right time. I wouldn’t have done something to her if the table was turned so I had no f-----g idea why she would sell me out to the enemy.

I have learnt to put the past behind and focus on our beautiful future but that doesn’t mean I would just forget all the pain and hurt I went through in an instant.

We parted ways and wished the best for each other. I honestly wished her the best and I wish she stays well to take care of her cute son.

He needed her to be strong for him.

“Don’t you think this is a bit over the extreme. It’s just a date Lucy,just a date a movie date and you are decking me up this way” I whined for the uptheenth time but Lucy wasn’t budging.

Yes,I had a date tonight and I was looking forward to the date. I was actually elated for the date but the mistake I made was to mention it to the old woman here and she have been fussing about that since,I was actually beginning to think she was the one going on the date. It was endearing and annoying at the same time.

“You need to look good as a lady. It’s not everyday you get the opportunity to be glam” she said and I huffed earning one of her ‘what do you mean ?’ look.

She went on for about thirty more minutes before clapping her hands and giggling. “Great,you look so beautiful” she gushed and I looked at the mirror. I was really looking beautiful…more beautiful, but a part of me still thinks that I am overdressing.

‘it’s just a dinner date kim’ my sub conscious said and I frowned.

“What’s it? Don’t you like it?” She asked.

“No, it’s beautiful…I just think I am doing too much”.

She beamed with smile again. “Of course not,I think this is just perfect for the occasion”.

“What occasion?” I asked and she looked surprised before forcing a smile.

“Don’t mind me,I was just joking around. This dress is good for the movie”.

I looked down at the dress.

“Okay. I think it’s great too. All thanks to you” I concurred.

The gown was a sequinned wine gown with feathers at the rim of the dress,it was slit from the thigh area down to the end of the dress. I wore it with a matching wine high heel.

“He is here Kim, c’mon” she said before dragging my hand.

She was energetic for a woman her age.

“Hold on,I need to say goodbye to Charlotte” I said and she shook her head.

“No,I don’t think that’s necessary. She is so engrossed in whatever she is doing” she said dismissing me.

“But…”

“No buts,I think she is fine on her own and you shouldn’t bother her. You have to go, Ashton is waiting”.

“Okay” I said defeated.

“So where are we going?” I asked Ashton for the umpteenth time.

“We are going to watch a movie” I replied smirking.

“That’s not the way to the Cinema. I am not that dumb”.

“I didn’t know you knew the location of every Cinema in NYC”.

“I didn’t say that…I was just tryna say I didn’t know the location of the one we are going to”.

“Okay”.

“Just okay?”

“Okay. Sit and stay calm. We would be there soon okay?”

“Okay”.

“Great then” he smiled at me before focusing his attention on the road again.

“It looks pretty noisy here” I told Ashton as we made our way to the cinema building.

“Yes,there is a hall after this building and I think something is going on there” he explained.

“Oh” I said before looking around. The place was quite large and breathtaking,more like a Hamlet. It was like a multipurpose plaza,there was a mall,a hall,a cinema,church and even a hospital and every other essential building you could think of. It was breathtakingly beautiful.

“It’s beautiful…very” I told him

“Yes it’s. Just like you” he replied before giving me a quick kiss on my lips.

“Let’s go and catch a view” Ashton said before taking my hand.

We were done watching the movie now and honestly I can’t recall the name of the movie or most of the scenes because we spent most of our time in there making out

“Okay” I nodded.

We walked for a few more minutes before we stopped behind a different colored lighted ledge. Few people were present watching the view too,more like looking down at the beautiful view of the city at night from a very high place.

The city was beautiful at night because of the different colored lightings and the fireworks that were on display.

“This is beautiful” I said aloud committing every single inch of tonight into my memory.

“Yeah it is” Ashton concurred. I guess he was enjoying the view too, because he have been unusually silent.

Yes,the view was that beautiful.

“Kim?” Ashton called

“Huh” I replied still not tearing my eyes away from the beautiful sight.

“Kim” he said again with a tone of urgency.

Urghh! Now,I have to tear my eyes away from this view.

“Yes what…” My sentence was cut short by the view by my side.

It was more beautiful than the view I teared my gaze from because Ashton was on one knee with an opened case in front of him.

“What are you…” I was saying until he interrupted me.

“Kim,your coming into my life has been a blessing in disguise” he smiled nervously. “I can remember clearly how everything happened,how I came up with the very idea that brought us together. I didn’t get it then,but that was the exact day everything changed,I kept on telling myself otherwise for several months but it turned out i was lying to myself and I was already falling for you. All those feelings were new to me and I had no idea how to deal with it so I behaved like the jerk I am again” we both chuckled. “I lived in regret for the few years after that particular day, because I felt like I should have done things differently and I shouldn’t have behaved the way I did. I was glad when you stepped into my company five years later, then and there I made up my mind that I was gonna do everything to correct the mistake I made because I still wanted you and I think you are the one for me. I had mixed feelings when I got to know that we had a daughter,I was happy that I got a child and I was so sad that I didn’t spend the most important days of her life with her but now I know there are many important days to come. I love you Kim and I always did but I was just too scared to admit it but now I know I want to spend the rest of my life with you,with our daughter” he paused and at this point I was already crying. “Kim,would you please marry me?” He finally asked.

I nodded vigorously. “Yes I will”.

Who wouldn’t?

“You will?”

“Of course i will” I said again stretching my finger out and he slipped the ring onto my ring finger before letting out a deafening scream.

“Yessssssssss” he screamed and the people present clapped their hands in excitement,some even took pictures.

I was embarrassed in a good way,I didn’t even know there were watching the drama that was unfolding and how I cried like a little child.

“I love you so much Kim” he said before hugging me.

“Love you more” I replied before pulling away.

“C’mon,Let’s go the party. We shouldn’t keep them in suspense that much” he said.

“What party?” I asked.

He grinned and that made me frown. “The party of course,you don’t think I would propose to you without a proper engagement party”.

“But you didn’t tell me” I whined.

“It was meant to be a surprise”.

“What if I have said no?” I asked,he couldn’t be so sure of himself.

“It’s possible but I knew you wouldn’t say no. You love me too much for that” he said and I rolled my eyes.

“Arrogant much?” I teased.

“Yes but you love me” he retorted.

“Yes I do”.

He kissed me on the cheek again. “C’mon Let’s go”.

The party was slowly coming to an end so I came outside for some air. I wasn’t choking,I was too happy for that. Infact I was outside because Ashton had to speak with some people and I needed air.

Most of the people I knew attended the party. There was Tyler, Tyler’s sister,Lucy, Charlotte and Tyler’s close family member. I was happy with everyone there for coming to celebrate one of tge memorable days of my life. At first I was mad at Lucy for not telling me that was the reason she decked me up in make-up and honestly, tyler is a sly. He has come to love Ashton more than he loves me after our many years of friendship.

The guy needs to be spanked.

I wouldn’t have believed I would get married to Ashton for real if I was told because I felt he was out of my league and we were not compatible considering the way he once treated me and looking back at all I went through,I finally realized it’s worth it. I suffered really bad then but I know I won’t be suffering like that anymore because we have a rosy future in front of us. Marriage won’t be an easy feat but with love and understanding I believe we can get through any obstacle.

I was grateful for my past because it brought me to where I am today and I am also grateful for everyone I met during my journey because they have all impacted my life one way or the other.

My thoughts were cut short when someone wrapped a jacket around my shoulder. It was undeniably Ashton.

“Penny for your thoughts?”he asked before shrugging his arm over my shoulder.

“I was just thinking about us…do you think we can do this marriage thing?” I asked him and he turned me to face him immediately..

“Yes,I believe in us and I believe we would have a great marriage…a very beautiful one”.

“I believe that too” I told him sincerely.

“We would get through anything as long as we have each other and Charlotte” he assured me.

“Yes we will” I concurred.

“I love you so much kim…you have no idea how much I love you”.

“I love you too” I told him before connecting his lips with mine.

He was once my boss,my fake fiancee,my BABY’S FATHER,my boyfriend and now my soon to be husband but he is still my BABY’S FATHER though and I love him so d--n much.

Life is really beautiful.
