••••••••AUTHOR’S POV•••••••••

The Art house.

Seated on the top stools in the art house were ten girls, facing the blackboard infront of them.

Each girls wore a mask to hide their identity as this was one of the codes of the LILIES.

The girls waited, staring at the clock overhead as it ticked away.

It was 8:28.pm and everyone was observing night prep but the LILIES had an urgent meeting which required immediate attendance.

The moment it struck 8:30.pm, the back door opened and closed. The girls turned around to see Vee marching undeterred towards the blackboard where she drew out a chalk and wrote on the board.

The girls waited, staring at her in silence.

Unlike the girls, Vee didn’t wear a mask. She wore her usual casual clothes which she’d worn that afternoon.

The moment she drew away from the board, the girls had already read what she’d written.

WHAT NEXT!

” What next,” Vee began, whipping her hands in a handkerchief. ” That’s what this meeting is all about.”

The girls waited, watching her silently.

” As you all know, next year’s graduation and a lot of you girls here are going to be affected by it one way or the other,” she paused then continued. ” Some of you girls are final year seniors and it’s great news you’ll be graduating while the rest who are juniors are going to take over after you’re gone. The question now is, what’s next? What’s going to happen to our reading group? What’s the fate of the newbies that’s gonna flow in here next year?”

Nobody said anything. It was one of the rules to wait until she was done talking before anyone could say something.

Vee took the chalk again and broke it into two. She began moving around the girls. ” Those are the questions and I already have an Answer up. As most of you might’ve heard, I’m getting married next year.”

More silence.

” I know associating with men was against our belief in but I agreed to get married because I have big plans for QA. The moment I’m married, I own the school. I become the overall authority. I’ll make the rules and nobody will break them. For a long time now, the LILIES has been a secret reading group but not for long.”

She stopped before a girl, stared at her from head to toe and moved away from her. ” To cut the long talks,” she raised her voice. ” I’ll bring the LILIES into the limelight. It would become a compulsory reading groups for all girls in Q.A to join. We’re always lacking members. I figured we need to explore above our means. The LILIES has helped many of you girls in numerous ways unimaginable. We should help others. That’s what life’s about. We help people.”

Someone amongst the girls raised her hand. ” I have something to say, MÔM.”

Despite the mask on her face, Vee was still able to identify her. It was Collette.

” Go ahead.”

Collette stood up and faced everyone. ” I want to make a very important announcement. I’m renouncing my membership with the LILIES.”

There were low murmurs that ran through the lips of all the girls in the room. Their shocked expression were something to see.

Collette continued. ” And yes, I Know the consequences of going against the oat I took but I made that decision the moment I realized my mistakes. I don’t know about you guys but joining this reading group turned out to be the worse things I’ve ever done to myself. I don’t care if I die tomorrow but all the same, I’m ready to leave for better for good.”

Then she turned around to face Vee. ” I just want to say thank you. Thank you for ruining my life. I brought all these anguish upon myself the day I came to you to engage me into the LILIES. Right now I’m leaving without the intentions of coming back. But before I leave, I want to make a request. Leave Lucy out of your schemes. I don’t care if you made the LILIES public, I don’t care if you get thousands of girls for your members. I only want Lucy out of it. I know what you’re trying to do, MÔM but it’s not going to work. I’ll make sure she doesn’t fall into your trap even after I’m gone.”

One of the girls seated on the high stools spoke. ” You do realize that once you break out of the LILIES and have anything intimate to do with a boy until after graduation, you’ll die, do you?”

Collette nodded. ” I know.”

Vee folded her hands, regarding Collette with dark eyes. ” I’m not sure you realize what you’re doing. I don’t want you dead. It’s one thing to break out and it’s another to get a boyfriend before graduation. You’re still tied to your oat.”

” You don’t have to worry about me,” Collette’s voice hardened. ” It’s Lucy I’m interested in. I don’t want her joining the LILIES.”

” That’s her decision to make, not yours,” Vee snapped.

” I don’t care!” Collette yelled. ” Stop planting bad thoughts into her head against me. I’m never coming back to you no matter what you do so get that in your head.”

Vee became silent. For a while, the two females stared at each other without saying anything.

Then Vee clapped her hand and began moving away. ” Well, enough of that. We have a new member who’d be joining us today.”

Collette grew angry at the way she just dismissed her abruptly. ” MÔM I haven’t finished talking.”

But Vee ignored her. She waved to a little girl who was probably a junior student. ” Come over here, pretty one.”

The girl wore a mask but Collette knew who she was by her limping movement. She had a bad leg which caused her to limp with each steps.

It broke Collette’s heart to see the little girl going towards Vee.

Vee faced the girls. ” She’s doing great in her academics but just of recent, she noticed she was slacking off and needed to get back on her feet. So she came to me.”

The girl stood before Vee and Vee smiled lovingly at her. ” You sure you want to go ahead with this? There ain’t no turning back.”

The girl bobbed her head like a child.

Collette’s heart kept breaking to bits at the fate of this little girl.

Vee brought out a new razor blade. She held out the girls palm and made a little cut on her finger tip.

Blood came out and Vee backed away.

” Alright, now repeat after me,” Vee paused, watching the little girl with dark eyes. ” Spider, snakes or Lizards tail.”

” Spider snakes or Lizards tail” the girl repeated.

” If I get a boyfriend before graduation, I’d die by my oat.”

” If I get a boyfriend before graduation, I’d die by my oat!”

Vee nodded. ” Congratulations. You’re the newest member of the LILIES. Now s--k the blood off your fingers.”

Collette looked away as the little girl obeyed, Licking off the blood like a cone of Ice-cream.

Vee watched Collette from the corner of her eyes. ” Don’t be surprised, Collette. Lucy may be next.”

Collette couldn’t take it anymore. She marched out of the art house into the darkness.

Vee watched her leave, a hardened smile on her face.

Things became strange between Collette and I for the next three days. I decided I wasn’t going to talk to her again. Not that I hated her or anything but Vee’s words kept hitting me every hour by the hour.

It was the same during bedtime and after classes and yet I wouldn’t say a word to Collette.

Collette as usual, gave me some space but I knew sooner or later she was going to ask me what’s going on.

In the meantime, I tried focusing on my studies. Trust me when I said it wasn’t easy doing these stuff on my own but I just couldn’t risk getting distracted again.

Inorder not to be around Collette, I began staying late with Sharon.

” Isn’t it about time you head back to your room?” Sharon asked, while we were both studying. ” It’s nearly lights out, you know.”

I was on her reading table, solving a maths problem. ” I will… just not yet, okay?”

Sharon was lolled up on her bed. She stared at me with that quizzing looks on her face. ” You’re always staying late these days. What’s wrong? Are you and CHI-CHI having a fight or something?”

” I just want to be alone for sometime, Sharon,” I said, checking my wrist watch. ” It gets boring being around that girl all the time.”

Sharon looked worried. ” I knew it. You two had a fight.”

” No we did not.”

” Then why the hell are you avoiding her?”

” I’m not avoiding anybody, Sharon.”

” But you are,” Sharon insisted. ” Just of recent, I observed you two barely talked to each other. You don’t even wait for her after meals anymore and every night you return to your room very late after lights out. What’s wrong? Something’s not right. I can tell so there’s no need avoiding the issue.”

I drummed my pen on my desk. ” You know, Sharon. Sometimes a girl just wants to be alone. I felt I needed some space.”

” Some space? Space for what?”

” Away from any form of distractions,” I whipped my hand across my face. ” You wouldn’t understand, Sharon. Let’s just drop this.”

Sharon shooked her head sadly. ” It’s bad for my heart to see you and CHI-CHI this way. Trust me, I like to see you two together. It’s cute. I can imagine having a school godmother like that. I’d be Soo proud of her.”

I didn’t say anything. I knew she was talking about how Collette saved me from Adaobi.

Seeing I wasn’t interested in what she was saying, she pouted. ” Alright, let’s change the subject. So what do you think of the hottie last Sunday?”

” You mean, Fr. Peter?” I stopped solving while I thought. ” I don’t know, he seemed too young to be a priest.”

” Unless if he’s still training under someone, maybe a bishop,” Sharon suggested.

” That may be right.”

Sharon turned over on her bed, her eyes screwed up. ” He’s one handsome dude. May God forgive me but I want to f--k him.”

I suppressed a shiver. ” Sharon, you’re talking dirty.”

” I’m serious,” she laughed, throwing me a pillow. ” I’m very h---y this evening. I miss my boyfriend’s d!ck.”

Picking her pillow up from the ground, I threw it back at her. ” Speaking of boyfriend, You ever wondered what he’s doing at this particular moment?”

Sharon shrugged. ” I’ve got no idea, Lucy. He could be with the boys, chilling at a bar.”

” Or he could be with a woman.”

Sharon’s face darkened. ” I don’t want to think about it, Lucy. I gave that guy my everything. If he ever does anything to break my heart, I’ll swear over his head.”

Sharon was a comedian. I nearly laughed. ” Alright, alright, take it easy. It’s not as if he’s fooling around.”

” I hope so.”

Returning back to my book, I picked up my pen and ask. ” I wanted to ask you, Sharon. How does it feel like having s£x with a man?”

Sharon grinned. ” Feels really good. There’s no feeling like it in the world. The male folks are really blessed having such an elongated banana,” she laughed. ” I call it banana cause that’s it’s shape plus the sweetness that comes along with it. A woman’s body is very open. She needs something to explore around inside her to bring out that chilling satisfaction.”

This was really interesting. ” And you’d rather choose a d!ck over a p*ssy?”

Sharon grimaced. ” Eww….I can never imagine myself fcking a girl. Where’s the enjoyment? Can she hit my G-spot? That’s why God made men. I’d rather choose a d!ck over a pssy.”

Vee’s words came to me again.

~No girl would ever chose a v@gina over a p£nis, Lucy~

If Sharon was like this, then Vee was definitely right. I saw no reason why I should get intimate with a girl.

It was at that moment. That very moment that I wished I had a boyfriend.

I wished I had fallen in love with a boy instead of Collette.
