Sadiq YOU SWINE! You dare show your face here?

Sadiq reacts upon seeing someone he never hoped or expected to see.. And that someone was his late father’s trusted servant and friend, Salim the sage.

Sadiq dashes forward towards Salim with a murderous look in his eyes, He reaches out and grabs the frail Salim, Before he could do anything to hurt the man, he was been held back by the guards, it took a while before Salim was broken free from Sadiq’s clutches.

Sadiq You B*stard…. I’m going to kill you… I’ll make sure your corpse hangs on the hot sunny desert till the maggot and vultures feed on it… You traitor!

Sultan Ali Calm down prince…. Calm down I say.

Jasmine Please my love… Calm down.

Sadiq Alright… But this isn’t it over you hear me?

Sadiq walks out of the room with Jasmine following in his steps.. Salim looks sad and feels sorry for Sadiq who’s blind with rage.. The Sultan apologizes to Salim for Sadiq’s outrage.

Sultan Ali I’m sorry for the hostility… My daughter will calm him down.

Salim I hope so.. He needs to know the truth and what’s going on in Marida.. Time isn’t on our side.. It will only be a matter of time, till Doom comes for us all.

Meanwhile, Back into their bedroom, Jasmine consoles Sadiq who’s still shocked and angered by the appearance of Salim, he keeps muttering that he’ll kill Salim.

Sadiq I swear I’ll kill him… Even if that’s the last thing I do, I’ll kill him.

Jasmine My love… Stop this kind of talk.. Don’t let rage take control over you.. Please.

Sadiq Of all the times to show up.. This coward shows himself here! He thinks he will be safe?

Jasmine I know what he did was unforgivable but things happen for a reason… Please forgive him and let the gods handle this matter.

Sadiq gods! What gods? Where were they when my mother was thrown into the dirt, where were they when my mother was sexually abused, where were they when my mother was killed? Where were they? The gods don’t care about us.. They’re just sitting high in the heavens watching humans suffer and tear each other apart.. I’ve longed forgotten about the gods.. All those people that have wronged me and my mother and father.. I’m going to make them pay.. Some have already paid the price and in time others will follow.

Jasmine Just listen to yourself.. I’m ashamed of you.. Tell me when you made those people pay, did the pain and hurt go away? Did it? Revenge doesn’t make the pain go away.. Even if you kill this man, the pain won’t go away.. Just look how your life has turned out.. You’re married to me and the gods has blessed us with two lovely kids, you have a good home and People that love you.. What else is better than this.. Sadiq keeps quiet for a while, moments later he smiles and hugs jasmine fondly..

Sadiq I’m sure lucky to have a wife like you… I’m sure my mother would have loved you if she was alive..

Jasmine Thank you my dear.. Now come close .. Its been a while since you’ve tasted my lips.

While the couple were about to share a kiss, they were interrupted by a knock on the door… Jasmine stands up and goes to open the door, as she does that, she sees her father’s messenger, who says their presence is needed at the Sultans chamber.

Sadiq and Jasmine both go to the Sultan’s chamber, as they arrive, they seat the Sultan, his councils and of course Salim all seated in the chamber, Sadiq and his wife take their seat right next to the Sultan.

Sultan Ali Well, now that everyone is here… There’s something urgent that we need to discuss.. But before that… Sadiq!

Sadiq Yes your highness!

Sultan Ali I know you’re angry and still hurt by your father’s demise.. Salim here wishes to apologize and make things right.. I’ve known Salim and your father before you were born and I’ve never seen a servant that’s dedicated and loyal as Salim, I’d like you to hear what he has to say regarding your father’s death … please Salim proceed.

Salim Thank you, your highness… My prince.. I know you hate and loathe me.. And there’s nothing more you’d want than to see my downfall… I’m sorry you that terrible display in your Father’s chamber and I wished you had never saw that.. That night, I told you that in time, you’d know the truth, my guess is you have, but that’s nothing compared to what I’m going to tell you now.

Sadiq What are you talking about?

Salim The real truth behind your father’s death…..

Salim tells Sadiq about the curse that surrounds the crown and his bloodline, He tells him about Laila, and the truth behind the virgin sacrifice which is a tribute to Laila for making Marida the shining and prosperous kingdom around the world, Everyone listens with rapt attention especially Sadiq, who begins to see things in a strange light.

Salim Your father was saddened by all this and made a promise to set things right even if he costs him his life.. The only way Laila would continue her dominion and control over the crown was to make a pact with the next successor by sleeping with him after the previous one is gone.. After your father realized that hassan and Huseein weren’t his sons, and also that you were his real son.. He decided to make things stood the way they were, but Fate had other plans by bringing you to your father’s doorstep, So the Sultan plotted a plan that might save you and Marida.

Sadiq What’s the plan?

Salim (sighs) He knew that if you were found and brought into the palace, the queens would be jealous of you realizing you’re the legitimate heir and they would do anything to get rid of you, so he made me promise that when the time came, that I should kill him and put the blame on you.. The queens would agree of course, without hesitation to either kill you or banish you.. That way, if you were banished, you wouldn’t be found again and Laila’s plan would fail.

Sadiq LIAR!!! You expect me to believe this.. You murderer… I saw you with my own eyes.. I saw the blood on your hands.

Salim Yes.. You saw your father dead with a knife in his chest but did you see who did it?

Sadiq What are you talking about?

Salim I was about carry out your father’s orders that night, but as I came into the chamber, I saw a man with a cloak standing over the Sultan.. The moment he saw me, he lurched at me trying to kill, he reached out for his dagger to stab me, I tried to get hold of him but he was too fast, he stabbed my hands, I kicked him off and reached out for a sword but he jumped out the window escaping, as I came to check the Sultan, you were already in the room… Here’s the mark to prove my point.. I wanted to tell you what was going on but I remembered the promise i made to the Sultan so I ran..

I later found about the man that killed your father, he’s an assassin named Mawt, he was under the employment of the Vizier Abdul.. He and his accomplice sent the assassin to kill the Sultan when they realized you knew about their secret. You may find this hard to swallow but I swear on my life, it’s the truth.

Sadiq So you’re telling me?? That…. I can’t believe this… Why would he ask you to do something like this? Why?

Salim It was the one way he could keep the future of Marida and it’s people secure but I’m afraid, all that efforts has been for nothing.

Sadiq Why?

Salim The City of Marida is in chaos.. It’s now a city of demons and evil… Laila now reigns supreme in Marida.

Sadiq What??? Impossible…

Salim It is true.. Why haven’t you seen merchants from Marida here? Anyone that goes there doesn’t come back…

Sadiq But what about the armies, who’s the Sultan? Why did they let this happen?

Salim Everyone is dead, Laila took them by surprise… The Queens, Saudat and Aisha, their sons, the Vizier Abdul and Karim, even Dijal, everyone is dead.. The only people alive are the masses.. Who are now slaves under Laila… She’s become so powerful and she had a army of Djinns and monsters at her command.. Over these years, she’s been spreading her darkness to other neighboring kingdoms and settlements… Nishkapur is the only kingdom left standing.. It will be only a matter of time before she conquers here as well.

After Salim makes that statement, everyone in the chamber begins to murmur.. Sultan Ali feeling unease by all this, begins to question Salim.

Sultan Ali How come you know all about this?

Sadiq Good question… How do you know about this?

Salim I was in a safe secret house in Marida when all this happened… Seeing that things were getting out of hand, I decided to come get help..

Sadiq Help? How did you know I was here in the first place?

Salim Your friend, Frahan told me..

Sadiq Frahan? He’s alive?

Salim Yes.. But not for long.. People in Marida are dying in starvation… Laila and her minions have taken almost everything.. We need to stop them now.

Jasmine How? You said it yourself! This witch has an army of monsters.. Monsters who’s skin can’t be penetrated..

Salim So you’ve come across them?

Jasmine Yes..

Salim You’re right.. This monsters can’t be killed from the outside but they can be killed from the inside.

Sadiq We know that, in fact I’ve killed 5 of these things… But its not easy.. These things won’t just open their mouths and then stab them.. We need something that can kill them without us losing our lives..

Salim Have you tried poisoning?

All Poisoning??

Salim Yes.. Listen before we get to that.. There’s also something you need to know.. These creatures are powerless and helpless around smoke.

Sadiq Smoke?

Jasmine How so?

Salim A day before I came to this kingdom.. I was camping on the hills and I used this black oil to light the fire.. There was a lot of smoke in the cave I was in so I came out get some air.. Upon coming out, I spotted three of this monsters patrolling around the hills, they spotted the fire in the cave and hurriedly approached the place, I went back and hid myself, moments later, they came in looking around, I was out in the open, anyone could see me but they couldn’t, I even made noises but they didn’t hear me.. Soon, they all left… One thing I deduced was that, their senses were in active and useless as they were in the smoke.

Jasmine Let me see this oil…

Salim passes the bottle of oil to Jasmine.. She opens the cover and sniffs it.. Her eyes widened as she smells the oil..

Jasmine I know this oil… Three years ago.. I was captured by this monsters.. They took me to a cave, where a lot of this oil pops out of the ground… These monsters bathe inside them.. I think that cave is the source of this oil.

Sadiq Let’s say we can render their senses useless, the smoke won’t last forever so how do we do about that?

Salim Excellent observation.. That’s where the poison comes in.

Sultan Ali So how do we do about that?

Salim Laila and her monsters consume a lot, that their food storage runs out quickly.. So when that happens, she sends them out to hunt for food and wine.. Considering how they’ve ransacked every where, they’ll be heading for Nishkapur.. And that is our moment.. These monster only eat at night.. After a long hard day, they rest at sundown and feast. All we have to do is mix the poison with the wine and take barrels of it to Marida.. The monsters will see us and capture us, hopefully they won’t eat us alive.. At night when they and their mistress fill their bellies with wine, they’ll die.. As for us.. Luckily there’s a lot of this oils in Marida, we’ll lit them up, stun the remaining monsters and then kill that evil b*tch.

Sadiq Hold on… Let’s not get too excited.. You yourself said Laila is around long before Marida was built.. A being like that can’t be killed with poison and speaking of poison, what makes you sure they won’t detect the smell of poison in the wine.

Jasmine Don’t worry.. I know what poison to use.. The white snake root poison, it’s odorless and tasteless, they won’t know or detect it at all.

Sadiq Well, then here’s how we’re going to plan this attack.. We’ll take a dozen men to Marida who will deliver the poisoned wine..once they successfully poison the monsters, they’ll start burning the houses and the smoke will affect the senses of these monsters.. Then, after that’s done.. The people of Marida will escape to safety ; once that’s done.. We’ll throw huge boulders of fire straight at Marida using giant wooden catapults , the boulders will of course crush the monsters, their skin may be impenetrable but they can’t with stand the impact and weight of a boulder , once that is done, the army will now proceed and kill the remaining monsters who are alive, after that, we face the evil b*tch.

Salim Excellent… Yours years of combat sure came in handy.. Your father would be proud..

Sultan Ali So what are we waiting for? Tomorrow we’ll get prepared.. Jasmine can you remember where the cave is?

Jasmine of course father.. I’ll accompany the men tomorrow so that we can extract this oil..

Sultan Ali Good…

Sadiq Excuse me your Majesty.. But my wife will not be a part of this.. She doesn’t need to go.. I know the way to the cave.

Sultan Ali Very well.. Jasmine you stay and handle the poison, I’m sure you know how to make it?

Sultan Ali Good without anymore suggestion, you’re all dismissed… Guards blow the trumpets.. Go around Nishkapur and alert everyone about this.. This is a declaration of war on Marida.
