Alex moved forward to punch him. “Alex, it’s fine, ignore him.”, I said, grabbing his arm. He growled and walked off to talk to some people. I turned around and saw William enter the ballroom, but he wasn’t alone. There was a beautiful, blonde woman on his arm. What in the world? “Ugh, my life is turning into those cliché movies.”, I thought. My eyes met his and I looked away quickly. I began to walk through the crowd to find Alex, and I could hear a couple of women comment about how I couldn’t even keep a man for two months. This is so embarrassing! How can he come with another girl and totally forget about me? “You guys aren’t even in a relationship. It shouldn’t matter.”, my mind said. But I am his legal wife so there is no reason to embarrass me like this. “Whatever, ignore him.”, I thought to myself. As I walked into the throng of people, I saw Stephanie and Landon to the side, looking really uncomfortable. “Stephanie!”, I called out. She turned around and grinned in relief when she saw me. “Aunt Heather!”, Landon leaped into my arms like always. He was adorable in his little black tux and Stephanie looked gorgeous with her red, strapless dress. I chuckled and kissed his cheek, “Who is looking handsome tonight?” “Grandpa!”, he said with a proud smile. I laughed at his reply, “What about you?”, I teased. “I’m second handsomest.”, he said matter-of-factly. “What about me then?”, Alex asked, coming towards us. “You are fourth, after Aunt Heather!”, Landon said, kissing my cheek. Alex and I burst out laughing. I turned to Stephanie. “How are you Steph?”, I asked, giving her a one-arm hug. “Oh Heather, I’m so sorry about-“, she started but I cut her off. “It’s fine Steph.

Forget about it.”, I said with a small smile. She nodded and said, “This is so boring, they don’t even have music. Atleast last time they had a dance floor.” “I know right?”, Alex and I said at the same time. We turned to look at each other, and I knew we had the same idea. I looked towards the stage at the back, and down at the floor, which was pretty much equivalent to a dance floor. Stephanie laughed and took Landon from my arms, “Go, this party needs some life.” Alex grabbed my hand, and we took off towards the stage. There were two wireless speakers for the speeches later, perfect. We approached the manager of the hotel, who was watching the party from the side. “Excuse me, sir.”, I called out. The manager turned to me, “How can I help you ma’am?” “Would it be alright if we did some singing on the stage?”, I asked. “Why of course, we were going to have live music but the musician canceled.”, he said, “so please go right ahead.” “Thank you!”, I said. He gave us two microphones and connected Alex’s phone to the speakers. Once we were done setting up, Alex and I walked onto the stage. By then, most of the people were looking toward the stage. The opening to Good Time by Owl City and Carly Rae Jepsen started playing. Alex began singing:
