By 6:00, I was dressed and ready. I’ve gotta admit, I look pretty good. For jewelry, I kept my usual earrings, which were medium-sized silver loops, and the silver heart-shaped locket I have worn everyday since I was 4. I grabbed a silver clutch from my closet and put my phone and keys into it. I raced downstairs and put on the pair of high-heels I usually wear to formal parties.

I waited by the couch in the foyer until 6:30, but William still didn’t show up. Just as I thought about getting undressed and simple lazing around, I got a phone call from Alex. “Hey Alex”, I answered cheerfully. “Hey Booboo, you’re coming to that business dinner right?”, he asked. “Well I’m supposed to, but William hasn’t shown up yet.”, I said sadly. “Are you ready? I can take you as my buddy.”, he said. “Sure, I’m ready.”, I replied. “Great, I’m pulling into your driveway now.”, he said and hung up. I walked out and Alex got out of his car. He stared at me for a couple of seconds, before he looked worried. “What’s wrong?”, I asked nervously. “I’m gonna have to fight off every male in the party.”, he groaned. I laughed, “I’m sure there are much more prettier girls at this party, so don’t worry.” He opened my door, “I doubt it.” I shook my head and sat down. Alex went around and got into the driver’s seat. Once we were on the road, Alex began talking again. “How are you doing BooBoo?”, he asked, concerned. “I’m alright.”, I replied. “No one has been talking to Andrew properly, after that night”, he said angrily, “I have to restrain myself from beating up the bastard.” “Alex, you guys are overreacting. I should have seen this coming, Andrew has never been loving towards me.”, I told him. “You’re our baby sister! How can he say those things so-so heartlessly?”, he practically yelled. “Can we discuss this later? I want to get this night over with.”, I pleaded. His face softened and he nodded. Once we got there the valet took the car keys, and we both walked toward the hotel, where the party was being hosted. The paparazzi, however, was making it hard to get through. “Mrs. Solace, how come Mr. Solace isn’t here?”, two reporters asked, at the same time. I ignored the reporters and kept walking through the flashing lights. We were safe from them once we got inside. I took Alex’s arm and we walked into the ballroom.

There were so many people. I saw my parents and Andrew standing to the side, talking to some business associates and their friends. “Heather!”, my mom squealed. Yes, my mom likes to squeal like a teenager sometimes. “Hi Mom! You look absolutely stunning.”, I kissed her cheek. I hugged my dad and he kissed my forehead. “You look beautiful, sweetheart.”, he said. “Thanks, dad.”, I grinned. I turned to Andrew, and he was staring at me with disgust in his eyes. “Andrew.”, I said curtly.

“Heather.”, he said frowning, “I think you got the wrong party, this is a BUSINESS party, not a frat party.”
