Enita's POV

I got to my place of work and parked my car in the garage and came down from the car.

It’s better, no one should look for my trouble. Am still angry at that idiot that was speaking incantations.

I walk in the hallway to my office, I wore the lab coat and my stethoscope on my neck and went out again.

I got to each ward to check on the patients in there. And I was happy they are recovering.

I saw a familiar figure at the entrance of a ward opposite where I was staying. My eyes beamed when I saw who it was.

Am not angry anymore. Not when have seen sugar. I took a quick glance at the patient behind me and walk out.

I was smiling like someone that just got initiated into witchcraft. Just I was about calling her. I heard my name.

Enemy of progress. They followed me here to London again. They came in form of a white man and dressed like a doctor.

I turned and saw the doctor, he was with a straight face, no smiling. Am sure the patients will surely be afraid of him.

“Yes, how may I help you?” I groaned.

My eyes caught with Mimi’s and she rolled her eyes while I grinned and at the same time groaned when I saw that it was this doctor that spoilt everything.

“Hmm… A surgery is about to take place in the next one hour and you will be the one assisting me with some few nurses.” He answered.

“Oh! Am coming, I just need to see someone, I will be quick.” I replied and turned but the devil called me back.

“You need to get ready before that hour!” He snapped at me and I turned to him.

“Do you have to yell? Okay, fine I will be there before that hour. I just need to see someone.” I said, sharply.

He’s getting on my nerves. He doesn’t want me to see sugar. I won’t waste time to kick that small carrot between his legs.

“Must you see Mimi? You’re not allowed to see or even call anyone, an hour to a surgery. That’s the rule.

You should have done that before. So let’s go. I will go call the nurses.” He replied, rudely.

“You want to go call the nurses. I thought you forgot about the rule you just delivered to me seconds ago. You aren’t calling any nurses.

You should have done that before. If you have to call the nurses then I need to see Mimi. Good bye.” I jerk his hand from mine and walk away.

He’s not serious at all.

“Wait, the surgery is taking place in theatre room 3. And this question I really need to ask. Who are you to Mimi?” He asked.

I chuckled and answered. “You wanna know? She’s my girlfriend, so stay away from her. Meet you at the theatre room.” I replied, hoarsely.

She’s my girlfriend? What the heck?

I got to the ward Mimi entered and saw him checking a boy up. She changed his drip. She was always putting on a smiling face.

I sighed and went inside fully. I tapped her so she could notice me. She flinched and turned but her face turned into a frown immediately.

“Must you follow me here? as you can see, am working. Let me concentrate please.” She rolled her eyes.

“Just gonna help you with the boy. And yes, who’s that doctor that was all over outside. I told him I wanted to see you but he was angry. Are you sure he doesn’t have feelings for you?” I asked and her eyes widened.

“Feelings? Are you talking about doctor Nelson? Cause me and him were transferred here today. And am confused with what you are saying” Her face look puzzled.

“Don’t worry, I already told him am your boyfriend and he should stay away from you. I want to be the only boy around you.” I pouted.

“Seriously Enita, you’ve killed me. When did we start dating? You know I can’t date you. You aren’t my type of man. Just get lost!” She snarled and storm out of the ward.

I shrugged and followed her out too. I just don’t want anyone around her. Especially, some crazy idiots like that doctor Nelson or what’s his name.

I left Mimi alone and got to the theatre room where the surgery I going to take place.

I entered, no one was in yet. You see, am even the early bird here. Few minutes, some nurses came him and stared at me with no expression before placing the surgery tools on the table.

Soon, they were mumbling. “He’s African but he’s still cute anyway.” I heard one say.

I smiled at the compliment and they wowed.

“OMG! He’s cute when smiling!” Another whispers to the other.

The devil came in and the surgery started. He kept glancing at me and I keep glaring at him back.

His head like crayfish.

“Can you face what you’re doing and stop staring at me please? Or you want the patient to die?” I retorted.

He gulped and nodded. Now I see, he’s been giving me that look since I told to him about Mimi been my girlfriend.

Yeah. Mimi is my Girl – friend. We aren’t dating.

The surgery was about a little girl who swallowed a pin and had it hooked on her lungs.

It wasn’t easy but we tried our best to make remove the pin and make her stay alive. Fortunately, we were able to.

I removed the gloves and washed my hands. I cleaned them with a napkin and turned to leave the room.

Once again, the devil called me back.

“Are you guys dating for long now or you just started?” The question was rhetorical to me.

A question I can’t answer. Of course, I can answer it but I don’t answer stupid questions.

“We’ve been dating fifteen years. Yes, fifteen. A long relationship. Do you have feelings for her?”

“Me? Hell no! I don’t” He answered and I nodded.

Good.

“okay, I need to go now. See you later, doctor Nelson.” I waved and quicken my steps.

My direction is to sir McDonalds’ office. Yes. To confirm the stupid rules doctor Nelson gave me.

I knocked on the door and entered when I was asked to.

“Good morning sir.” I greeted.

He raised his head and beamed when he saw me. Wow! It like he love seeing me.

“Good morning Eni…” He didn’t know my name properly.

“Enita sir, I came ask if one of this rules is in the rules and regulations of this hospital. You have a surgery to take care of, must you be there an hour to the time it what?” I asked.

“Well no, who said that? Cause the only rule I set about surgeries is; you mustn’t get there late.

You must be there at the right time. I didn’t say you should be there an hour to the time. You can do that, if it pleases you.” He answered.

You see. You get to know when your enemy is at work.

“Thank you sir, that’s the question I wanted to ask.” I bowed and he shook his head.

I was still grinning when I saw Mimi again. I always see her anywhere. Abi she’s a spirit?

“Sugar” I called and she turned.

Hmm. She already knows her nickname.

“What is it?” She spoke harshly.

I stared at her perfect lips.

“Calm down, your lips is driving me crazy today. Can I.. Kiss it?” I smiled at my silliness.

“What?! You dare not! That burnt lips of yours, I don’t wanna make it touch mine.” She fumed.
