I was from a wealthy home… My father is Mr. Williams a wealthy business tycoon that deals with food products, He owns most of major farms in Nigeria, after the crops are being harvested, they’re processed and then sold some are also being shipped abroad.. But despite his fame and wealthy, I was his only daughter… My mom had died after giving birth to my baby brother, the little guy didn’t make it afterwards.

So my dad married Penelope, in order to have a male heir to inherit his empire.. But nothing happened… Penelope was a widow when dad married her, she had a male child Emeka… A reckless and unserious p---k, My dad didn’t want him to inherit his business empire because he wasn’t his and the boy wouldn’t manage it well… So he decided to hand over everything to me, I was to be his successor… I brought in more business deals than my father ever did and he was proud of me… I was serious and determined but he only regret was that I was a female..

So he decided to pair me up with his Business partner’s son, Gabriel.. A real buffoon… How could I marry someone I don’t know just like that… We don’t know anything about each other, we haven’t talked or done anything mutual… How can I marry someone I don’t even know anything about… I don’t even love him… This wasn’t marriage, it was a trade. And I’m supposed to keep quiet and go like that… I’m a free and independent woman, I decide who I marry and who I want to be with.

And that was when the trouble started, my dad didn’t care about my feelings, he just wanted me to go ahead with the marriage… Just because he’s my father doesn’t mean I should obey him when he makes a ridiculous request…

Penelope my wicked Step mom seeing this as an opportunity begins to fill my dad’s ear with lies…. Poisoning his heart against me… God I hate that woman… But despite all that, my dad never listened to her…

A few days before the deadline of my forced marriage, I traveled here to Kano to meet a meet a business client.. But before I could reach my destination… I had a terrible car accident… I thought I was dead.. But some how I made it out alive without any serious injury…. I came out of the car walking aimlessly.. I had no idea where I was going or how long I was walking… Then finally i collapsed and passed out….. That was the place Steven found me… My memory I had lost, came pouring back into my head like a heavy rain fall.

Now that I know what fate befalls me. If I go back… I’ve decided to stay with Steven, I’m not interesting in been found… Here I have everything I’ve never got to have back home.. Love, respect, and freedom to do what I want.

I’m never going back… Life might not be stylist as the one back home but here is better than going back to that prison…

Steven don’t worry… It must have been a memory… I’ll try my best to make sure I find where you belong.

Monica No!! Stop Steven… You’ve done more than enough to help me and I’m grateful..

Steven. But…

Monica No.. I want to stay here with you… If you don’t mind… I’m willing to embrace my fate… Can I stay in your house?

Steven Well, I don’t mind.. But is this what you really want?

Monica Absolutely…

Steven was surprised by my answer but he said nothing after that.. He stood up and left the room..

I felt bad for not telling him that my memory was back but it was for best… For both of us..

In that moment, there was a knock on the door, I stood up and went to check who it was, but Steven had already gone and opened the door… There was an elderly woman standing in front of the door, I later found out she was his mother!

Steven Mama! Good morning, why are you here?

Vivian Steven… I heard that you’re harboring a prostitute in this house? Is this true?

Steven Prostitute? No…

Vivian Then who’s that lady standing behind you?

Steven oh that’s Monica, she’s my guest…

Vivian Guest? That woman doesn’t look like a guest to me… She looks like those high class lady that do nothing but milk men dry… Steven she must leave this house…. Uzoma is the right woman for you…

Steven Mama, this isn’t your house and you have no business in telling me who to allow into my house… Monica is my guest and that’s final…

Vivian Is that so? I see she has charmed you but not for long.. What do you even know about her… What if she’s a thief?

Steven Mama, if you have nothing to do here.. I kindly suggest you leave… Right now

Vivian Steven! You’re telling me to leave? Don’t worry… As for you Ashawo lady… Your charms won’t last on my boy… You’ll see.

After that Steven’s mom left the house… Steven closed the door and came towards me.. Seeing how worried I was, he assured me not worry.

Monica Steven I’m sorry.. I didn’t mean for this to happen.. If it’s going to cause any problem… I’ll leave..

Steven Don’t mind my mom… Uzoma must have filled her ears with lies… Don’t worry about a thing.. You can stay here as long as you like… I don’t mind and I’m not complaining… Just take things easy okay?

Monica thank you Steven…

Steven No problem… So are you hungry?
