Read Story: SEASON 1 EPISODE 13

I came face to face with Baba and my heart flew into my mouth..

“Ba.ba…!” I stammered and he smiled suspiciously.

“And where is the great one going, gorgeously dressed?” He asked laughing at my uneasiness.

“I..uhm… Am going to… My.. One of my friends is sick and I thought to visit her” I lied and even though it was very obvious that I was lying, I maintain a bold face indicating that I must not be stopped from going out. He swallowed hard, looked at me with a sad face and said,

“Omaojo” he called me, he called me by that name each time He’s displeased by my attitude and he knew I didn’t like that name, owing to the fact that ‘Ojo’ which means ‘God’ was attached to it.

Omaojo actually means, ‘God’s child’ and I was already making plans once i get the university to change my sure name from Omaojo to ‘Ojima’ which was the short form my father’s name.

“When the devil wants to destroy a person, he uses that same person for her own destruction” he continued, “you don’t have to lie. If you lose your glory, who suffers it? ” he asked rhetorically and walked past with a word which made me began to see Baba as an old witch or better still a wizard.

“Greet him, tell him I sent my regards” he said and I turned in shock, looking at him as he opened the back door and disappeared from my sight.

“How did he know I was going to see a man?” I asked nobody but myself yet like a blindfolded bird, determined to go down to the grave, I stubbornly ignored all the danger signals and went out to meet Greg.

I arrived at their house, knocked at the gate twice and in no time, the gate opened as Greg all filled with excitement on seeing me, ended the call he was making and opened his arms for me in a hug as I entered the large gate.

Well, who wouldn’t want to hug a handsome, promising guy from a wealthy family? I melted into his arms and the scent of his Cologne filled my nose and for the next few minutes which seemed like a year, I remained lost in his arms as he caressed my hair with his soft hands.

“Oops! Forgive my manners for keeping you standing outside here. Do come inside the house with me, while I get dressed for our sight seeing” he said rubbing his hair gently.

I followed him as he led and the interiors of the house was extremely beautiful and expensive more than I imagined. While I stylishly, observed the house with the corners of my eyes to avoid, acting like a village girl, he spoke up.

“What do I offer the beauty Queen?” He asked sitting close to me and smiling seductively.

“Nothing” I said trying to act in contentment.

“Of course you know that’s not possible!” He said moving back with displeasure in his eyes.

“OK..ay! Water or a soft drink will do” I said trying not to get him angry and he started laughing as he went up to the wine stand and came back with a pack of Hollandia Yoghurt and two glass cups.

” I know you will like this, because women likes yoghurts a lot..” He said laughing and truly, I liked yoghurt so I joined him with an affirmative smile as he served me a glass of the drink.

” Alright! Let me go get dressed for our outing… Or am I good to go this way?” He said and stood to his feet with his hands wide spread for my criticism. He was on a red polo with a a rugged black Jean trouser which was sagged a little to reveal his blue boxers.

I found myself melting as I sat down there smiling and nodding my head indicating that he was good to go and he picked up bunch of keys with a left hand and held my hand up with his right hand and off we left the beautiful house.

We walked round the village and I also took him to a nearby river and he was so excited at the beauty of nature, after which we sat down on a fallen tree somewhere to talk as it was already getting dark.

” Zee, my Dad and I traveled back to Lagos two weeks ago, but I insisted on returning back to this village because I couldn’t stop thinking about you and here we are together ” he said and I felt like I was in heaven because of the way he called me and how he explained himself with care.

After talking for a while, he cleared his throat and said, “Let me tell you a little about my family” he said and I gave him my ears with all concentrations.

“My dad’s from this village but my mom is an American woman and I was born and brought up in the UK” he said I nodded with interest.

“We are just two, myself and my younger sister who is presently out of the country for her studies. And myself, just graduated from the Oxford University last year…”

He continued and by the time he was done talking about himself and his family, it was already dark and he noticed my discomfort then paused and took my hands for us to leave and he walked me down with our hands lucked in each other…
