Chapter : Road to Infidelity

(Sandra)

Two years later, my life had taken a hellish path ever since I found out, I was pregnant for Samuel and after that b---h Carol threatened me, I knew there was no way I could ever have Alex, not to mention How the truth was already found out.

So I had one option left, and that was to look for Samuel, I asked people who knew him and even went to places where we usually had dates to see if he was there. It took my a week before I located where he lived.

So one Saturday morning, I went to his house, as I arrived, there he was outside washing his clothes, He was responsible for this, and I can’t raise this baby on my own, he also has to take responsibility.

As soon as I approached him, I decided to look like I was sad and remorseful, so he wouldn’t send me away.

As he saw me, he was shocked and angry, he left what he was doing, I came towards me with haste.

Sandra Hi, Samuel.

Samuel What are you doing here? Didn’t I tell you to stay away from me? What do you want?

Sandra Please can’t we go inside and talk its urgent!

He stood looking at me for a while before he agreed, as we entered the room, he sat opposite me, looking at me straight in the face, there was rage written all over his face!

I had to use my feminine charms and sweetness if I was going to win him over, I’ve lost a man already and I’m not losing this one.

Samuel What are you doing here Sandra?

Sandra Look, Samuel I know I messed up, and I’m here to apologize! What I had with other guy was nothing, its you I love.

Samuel Don’t take me for a fool, you’ve been having secret affairs and you think k wouldn’t know, and in the process you got pregnant, and you’re trying to pin it on me.

A month later, We got married, it was quite a ceremony and it was okay, everyone was happy but I wasn’t, to be honest the only reason why I went back to Samuel was because that b---h stole Alex from me, the man of my life, before our wedding, I had to watch and listen with rage and jealousy as Alex got married to Carol, their wedding was all over the news and radio, in fact it was a very big event, people from far and wide came to see their wedding.

If only things hadn’t gone so wrong, I should have been the one married to Alex but no that rich b---h stole him from me and made him her own, and that’s what the rich always do, take away anything they set their eyes on.

A week after our marriage, Samuel and I moved out of Abuja and traveled back to Jos, cause he was transferred, Life wasn’t bad with him either, he provided for me, to the best of his ability and did his job as a good husband. I tried to apply for a teaching job here in Jos but due to my pregnancy, I couldn’t so I decided to stay until I had given birth.

My pregnancy had reached its peak and it could give birth at any given time, and I had become a little bit chubby, due to my excessive eating, Samuel had brought his cousin, Patricia to help me out with tidying of the house, she was of good help but she and I don’t see eye to eye.

For some reason, she doesn’t like me and I didn’t care about what she thought of me.

One Sunday night, as I was in bed with Samuel, my water broke and the baby was on the way, I told Samuel about it and he quickly got dressed and drove me to the hospital, the doctor wasn’t around, so we had to wait, I was in pain and agony and my belly was on fire, the baby was just inching to be pulled out, we had to wait for minutes before the doctor came.

Hours later, I had given birth to a baby boy and Samuel was happy about it, our relatives filled the hospital, celebrating with joy and happiness. I felt like that life would Samuel wouldn’t be too bad after all but little did I know, it was about to change for the worst.

Two years later, Samuel got fired from his job, and as I later found out, the girl whom he was banging back in Abuja was his employers niece and she gave birth to a child and claimed it was Samuel’s, Samuel denied the allegation and the child but as a result of that, it cost him his job.

Being in the early stage of his fatherhood, Samuel did all he could to provide for us, it wasn’t easy but he did his best. By this time, I was already working as a lecturer in the university here in Jos, the pay was nice but it wasn’t enough to cover the cuts at home, I barely even spare enough to pay for my son’s school fees.

Despite these hardships we were going through, Samuel didn’t waver and took things slow and steady waiting for God to bless our fortunes but I was tired waiting for God’s time, so I decided to look for a way to get my own happiness.

One Thursday morning, I was in my office, talking to my colleague and friend, Antonia, She was those type of women that loved living the good life and hated mingling with the less fortunate, I was discussing with her about the issues in the house before I went for my lecturing class which was due in an hour.

Antonia Things must be bad at home huh?

Sandra Yes o!

Antonia Well, if I were you I would find another means to get extra money.

Sandra My sister I have tried, but nothing works.

Antonia What have you tried?

Sandra Well, I’ve tried a lot of things like, selling second hand clothes, rearing chickens, stuff like that.

As soon as I said that, She started laughing, she laughed so hard, that she almost fell on the ground, besides what’s so funny? Finally she stopped laughing and told me her mind.

Antonia Sandra? Sandra? Is that what you call making money? Are you from the 1970s, babe this is the twenty first century and we’re in 2000s, modern age, computer age, You need to get on with the flow, be in the zone, Haba.

Sandra So what do you suggest I do?

Antonia Well, I’ll tell you but are you prepared for it?

Sandra Well….. Yes…. Sort of.

Antonia Good listen well and good, Here in this university, female lecturers get money, either from the male lecturers or the male students.

Sandra How?

Antonia Simple now! Spread your f-----g legs.

Antonia Please hold it right there, don’t bring Jesus into this.

See almost all women do this, and as far as I know there are lot of lecturers and students that want to pound you silly.

Sandra Are you suggesting, I cheat on my husband?

Antonia Look, I do it as well but for fun and the money but as for you, there’s a reason for you to do this, things aren’t well at home, your husband doesn’t have enough and your son will probably get kicked out of school because of school fees, think about it.

Sandra I don’t think I can….

Antonia Haba, don’t be like this…. Haven’t you heard about the gateman that married his rich boss, Caroline Lovette. Now see as they’re enjoying themselves, traveling around the world.

Sandra Don’t ever mention, that b---h’s name again!! Ever!

Antonia Chill, did she do something to you?

Sandra You wouldn’t understand!

With a heavy heart, I told Antonia everything that happened between Alex and I and how that b---h stole him away from me, Antonia listened with astonishment and surprise.

I left my office and went to class, I thought about what Antonia said and she could be right, anything can happen and I won’t let that happen, And I remembered what she said about Alex and that b---h traveling all over the world, made me very angry, I wish there was a way to make that b---h suffer and pay for what she did to me, it was because of her I’m in this struggling and bitter life, i hate you Carol, I hate you.
